Offering all-day insulation for cold weather fishing, our Nano Puff® Pants are made with low-bulk, 100% polyester (55% recycled) 60-g PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco for a wading experience described by one of our field testers as “floating in toasty, puffy warmth.” Perhaps just as important, the Nano Puffs maintain their warmth even when wet—a critical factor in any under-wader insulation. The lightweight 100% recycled polyester shell fabric has a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, and the reinforced seat, zip fly and handy front slash pockets—meaning they work just as well outside of waders as in. Which means, if you’re like us, you’ll keep wearing them in camp or around town long after you’ve hung your waders up to dry.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

We use PrimaLoft® insulation inside insulated garments for its warmth, compressibility, and soft comfort. While the human body uses energy to stay warm, PrimaLoft insulation uses a patented microfiber structure to help the body retain warmth and conserve energy.

The proprietary ultra-fine fibers of PrimaLoft insulation form a tight collection of air pockets that trap heat from your body and keep the cold out, providing an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. When insulation gets wet, it loses these air pockets and consequently, its insulating properties. PrimaLoft ultra-fine fibers were developed to be water resistant so your insulation stays drier and maintains its insulating properties even when wet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nano Puff Pants are top Notch!! The Patagonia Nano puff Pants are the real deal! Perfect complement to the Nano Puff jacket. Warm, light and comfortable. Wore these for 2 weeks on a expedition. Retains their warmth when wet. Great pants for wearing under waders when out fishing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lucky Hubby! Need some warmth for women too! I just ordered these for my husband.... I have a pair of Montbell down pants that have worn out. I was so excited to see these nanopuff pants and was ready to order some as a replacement for my worn out pants BUT only for my husband (sad face). If you made them for women, I would definitely buy a pair! I wear them in the winter over my scrubs while going to/from work, hiking, to yoga class, camping, under my ski bibs and they are amazing. I'd love to see a few color options and a woman's fit because I'll definitely buy some. I think Patagonia makes quality products but I'd love to see some options for this product. ps. One of your employees suggested writing a review to provide this feedback...I'll be not so patiently waiting!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Winter Wading Must These pants are a must have in your arsenal for winter wading. I was out the other day the air temp was 29° degrees in the water temp was 36°.I had my R1 pants as a base over these and was toasty all day. The features are great they have a back zip pocket for your wallet (Feature the R1 pants lack). The elastic waist band is a plus giving a little extra room to tuck Layers in so they don’t ride up when you’re wading. I had small pin hole leak in my right leg nothing major the DWR coating prevented by base layers from getting wet.The fact they stay warm when wet is a life saver in winter conditions. If your a winter steelheader or just chasing fish cold conditions these pants are a must have !

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Really great for short people If these actually fit me I would rate them 5 stars. I am 6' tall with a 30 inch waist and all of my Patagonia pants, baselayers, and boxers have always been size S and fit perfectly. These seem to fit well at first but due to lack of stretch, when I sit down or raise my legs to go up any steps or steep incline, they rise up more than 6 inches. Seriously, more than 6 inches! I have no idea why these are effectively so much shorter than any other pants I have ever owned, and I especially cannot figure out why they testers did not view this as a huge problem since these are designed for warmth. If you are 5' 6" or less, or wear a L or XL, then these will most likely fit perfectly and be amazing pants, but for me they just don't work. One more gripe is that the back zippered pocket entry is quite small and my hand, (glove size L/XL) does not fit. I would love to see these re-worked with enough stretch to combat the rise and some zippers added to the side pockets for security when using them as an outer layer. Some cuffs at the bottom might be nice too! I really hope that a future version will fit me because these pants seem great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would love to see side zips! These pants would be awesome if they had side zippers that ran along the entire pantleg - this way they could be put on without taking off ski boots and crampons. Will definitely purchase a pair when this happens!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The bomb These pants are so comfy. Weather at home watching TV or out at the bars in the winter or in my waders in the winter and spring. They are designed like a normal pare of pants and I would advise any buyer to wear them like one. You will always be comfortable they are like a fancy pair of sweat pants.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too short!! I've had them for a few months now. I'm 5'11" and weight 165. The small fits my waist perfectly 31 inch waist. The length is too short though. When I sit down they turn into capris and I have seven inches of exposed leg..... brrrrr!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great design. Wore them and stood in thigh deep 40 degree water for over three hours. Total comfort. After fishing can slip off waders and go to the store without looking like an idiot.
