Over alpine switchbacks and under redwood canopies, wherever spectacular trails lead, the Striders follow. Our Strider Pro Shorts carry what you need for a full day of mountain running, thanks to four overlapping, stretchy-mesh back hip pockets (two on each side). A card-sized center-back pocket closes securely with a zipper. The pockets lie flat and won’t flap when empty, but expand generously to hold everything from energy gels to a Houdini® Jacket. A fast-drying 50-denier 100% polyester micro dobby forms the body while the thigh panels use a nonchafing 100% polyester (50% recycled) airflow mesh. Side splits promote airflow and a lightweight open-knit 100% polyester crepe liner enhances breathability and includes Polygiene® permanent odor control. Brushed elastic lines the waistband and the sturdy drawcord’s routing allows for internal or external tying. With a reflective logo on the left hem and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. 5" inseam with 2" split.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Odor Resistant

Polygiene® odor control permanently protects your garments from smelling like a middle school locker room. Sweat itself is odorless, but it creates the conditions that bacteria need to multiply, and some of those bacteria produce odors. Polygiene permanent odor control stops the growth of odor-causing bacteria on fabrics, so you can wear more and wash less.

Active only on the fabric surface, Polygiene permanent odor control does not interfere with perspiration or with the skin’s natural bacterial flora. Polygiene particles are more than 100 times larger than nanoparticles and therefore are too large to penetrate to the skin’s barrier. Polygiene-treated fabrics have received Medical Class 1 approval in Europe, the same class that includes bandages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My goto race shorts. Great running shorts. Fits my houdini jacket perfect. Wished the back zipper pocket was little bit bigger.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great short! Make it in a short/split shor please! Great long short day - have two pairs. Critique: This short would be perfect if it came in a 2.5-3" split short version. 5" is a bit of an odd length - probably too short for someone who wants lots of coverage, but too long for someone who wants a real running short. Please Patagonia - make this awesome pocket short in a real runners split short version! I'm cutting mine off. The plus: Comfy, snug (fit is tight - but good), chaff free. Pockets work well for holding things snug - if you remove the seam between tow of them you can fit and iPhone in sideways, or if you really work at it you can get it in one pocket the tall way. Shorts seem a little over engineered at first, but it all works awesome. Great for a long day without a vest/pack or a race short. Just make them in a short version!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for long distance running. I bought these to run marathons. They function perfectly that way, trail as well. The zip pocket for my ID and the other 4 pockets for snacks and their trash. The fabric is very nice, dries fast and does not chafe. I also like to wear running shorts when I backpack. These are not so good for that. The extra 4 pockets get bound up with my waist belt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but could be better I run anywhere between 30 and 50 miles a week, so I was looking for another part of running shorts to cut down on laundry. I love all of my other pieces of patagonia apparel, so I decided to give these a try. Overall, they are good shorts. The outer material is moderately breathable and the length is perfect for running long distances. The waist pockets are some of the best I've seen actually, as the big one can fit a whole smartphone in addition to whatever power bars or gels you might be carrying out on the trail. My one reservation is the inner insert. The seams along the insert can chafe the inner thigh, and the material itself is not very elastic which can sometimes limit mobility. For this reason, these shorts get a 4/5. I now use these shorts for shorter to medium length runs, but nothing over 8-10 miles, as well as cross training in the gym.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing running shorts Bought this I think six months to a year ago. I've ran distance from 2 ~ 14 miles in these in rain, shine, and 30F to 70F weather. These are amazing shorts that don't stick, unnoticeable, and blocks wind.
