In storm-racked regions, clothing is crucial equipment and a reliable hard shell is mandatory. When the skies unleash, stay the course in the Super Cell Jacket—a light, sleek and durable emergency hard shell that virtually disappears in your pack. It features a GORE-TEX® waterproof/windproof and breathable membrane and Paclite® Technology, with a protective inner layer that makes a separate lining unnecessary. The helmet-compatible, 2-way-adjustable hood with laminated visor offers good visibility in bad conditions, the Touch Point System™ embedded cord locks in the hood and hem allow for quick adjustments, and gusseted underarm panels let you reach without lift. Low-bulk, laminated, watertight zippers close the pit zips and harness-compatible pockets; microfleece-lined neck and wind flap are soft on the skin; low-profile hook-and-loop tabs close the cuffs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by wildtroutchaser from Versatile, Light, Great for Many Different Needs I bought this shell as a replacement for a sub-par shell I previously owned, and so far it has been worth every penny. It packs down super small into my fly-fishing bag and daypack, yet is durable enough to take a beating when scrambling above the tree line or through scrub brush when chasing trout. It breathed well and blocked wind when tested on fast, high output day hikes in the White Mountains of NH and Katahdin in Maine (really loved the pit-zips for venting!), and I was happy to have it when I got caught in a hard rain shower out in the coastal flats with no cover. I am looking forward to testing out as the temperatures drop this winter... Would recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a breathable shell durable enough for everyday use, that also packs down great for emergency use. Pros: Durable for light weight, blocks wind, sheds water Cons: Cords on hem and hood somewhat hard to adjust, but hoping they will operate more smoothly with more use * I am 6'0", 182 lbs and the L fits me well, enough space to comfortably layer an R1and light insulation piece underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Barjavel from My everyday jacket. Since I bought mine, I can't go a day without it. Well almost... Last winter coupled with my ultralight down hoody, or just last week as a light jacket to keep me from the morning mist, rain and other. It adapts to many types of weather, thanks to the underarm zippers and light fabric. Would have love an inside chest pocket to fit my phone. But other than that, it's simply the best jacket I've ever had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bgflounder from Truly ultimate all-purpose shell Got this shell to replace my loved-out Rain Shadow, and it's fantastic. Great design on pocket placement, hood adjustment pulls, and zippers. Light enough for warmer wet weather, but sturdy enough for a snowy climb in high wind on Mt. Washington this March. Kind of miss the Fitzroy logo, but this jacket has simple, clean lines and performs great. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Goon from Super Dry I've been in the rain twice so far, and the Super Cell has been great. I stayed completely dry and comfortable. I hope it rains again soon, so I can wear my Super Cell again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BigAl from Great Jacket I got this jacket for climbing as well as everyday use. Thus far, it has been put through snow, rain, and everything in between. Perfect shell for approach hiking, as well as use on the route. I have also used it for dawn patrol, in which case the pit zips came in handy. The only downside to the jacket is that it isn't super breathable, but it still does a pretty good job of venting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SkiBoston from Great Jacket I purchased this jacket to be a windproof, waterproof outer layer while skiing. I'm into my 2nd season with this set up and so far it has been awesome. On most days I'll layer a t-shirt , then a thin down shirt from LLBean , then this jacket over it. For colder days I will add a fleece or something under the down. I'm 6'2", 175 lbs. and the large fits great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by runprerun from Solid Shell I've had this jacket for a couple years now and have been very impressed. I'm 6'2 and 175lbs and the large is a little loose all on its own, but layers very well. This jacket goes everywhere with me: school, backpacking, climbing and anywhere else I might end up. It's light enough to not have to think twice about taking it and it is very durable. After having its fare share of scraping against rocks it doesn't show any signs of wear. The hood fits well and cinches down tight in windy conditions. Probably the only thing I wouldn't recommend it for is a warm, humid climate. The pit zips help with breathability but not enough to make it comfortable. Otherwise it's a great jacket for its intended uses. Would buy again.
