At frigid belays and during breaks in mid-winter ski tours, remember, first things first: stay warm. Our new Fitz Roy Down Jacket uses 100% Traceable Down (800-fill-power goose down that can be traced back to birds that were never force-fed, never live-plucked) in a high-loft quilting design – larger, loftier chambers trap your heat inside the 100% nylon shell (with snow-shedding DWR (durable water repellent) finish, which utilizes a special high-sheen fabric construction atop the shoulders for enhanced moisture resistance. Underarm gussets improve range of motion and the center-front zipper has an internal storm flap and a soft, kissing-welt zipper garage with a micro-fleece-lined chin-flap for next-to-skin comfort. A drawcorded hem seals-in warmth and cinches from inside the two zippered handwarmer pockets (another zippered pocket sits on the outer left chest). Soft, low profile, internal elastic-bound cuffs push-up easily, and the included stuff sack has a built-in clip-in loop.
  • Lightweight and durable 100% nylon Pertex Quantum® fabrics throughout; a high-sheen Pertex Quantum® Y yarn fabric on the shoulders has interlocking Y-shaped nylon fibers to enhance DWR (durable water repellent) performance; fabrics have a DWR finish
  • 800-fill-power 100% Traceable Down (European goose down that can be traced back to birds that were never force-fed, never live-plucked); high-loft quilted construction provides exceptional warmth
  • Center-front Vislon® zipper backed with internal storm flap and soft, kissing-welt zipper garage and chin flap with microfleece for next-to-skin comfort
  • Two handwarmer pockets and exterior left chest pocket with DWR-coated zippers and garages
  • Underarm gusset improves range of motion
  • Elasticized, low-profile cuffs sit soft on the arm and easily push up and out of the way
  • Hem adjusts by pulling cord in handwarmer pockets and releases with cord locks at front hem; self-fabric stuffsack included
  • Main Shell and lining: 1.1-oz 20-denier 100% nylon Pertex Quantum® fabric with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Reinforcement shell: 1.1-oz 20-denier 100% nylon Pertex Quantum® Y yarn fabric with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Insulation: 800-fill-power 100% Traceable Down (European goose down that can be traced back to birds that were never force-fed, never live-plucked)

Water Resistant

(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Women's Fitz Roy Down Jacket is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty Warm This jacket has enough down loft to be really warm and cosy. I tried a Columbia down jacket, and it seemed like there was no down. It was returned. This jacket seems to fit a little large, but I always wear layers when it is really cold, so it works. The phone pocket is perfect. My last jacket had a pocket inside for the phone. I had to unzip the jacket to access my phone. This works much better. The elastic at the bottom of the sleeves is perfect, too. It is easy to push the sleeves up, and they stay up when I am washing my hands. No more damp sleeves. I bought the silver color. I didn't know what to expect, but I like it a lot. The jacket is puffy, but that is ok with me for winter weather. The weight is amazing. It weighs just a few ounces. The is the best feature. It is light in weight but toasty warm. I'm looking forward to traveling with this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best! I bought the jacket on sale! Half price but still a classic! You pay for quality and the name!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very light weight but warm. I bought this coat a month ago and love the fact that it is warm but very light weight. I was pleasantly surprised when I wore it on a very cold day in Chicago and was comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great warmth to weight ratio! I've had this jacket for 3-4 months and thrilled to wear it when the temps get to around freezing or below. Lightweight, packable and warm. Only dislike is that the material seems to stain very easily, so now I have a bunch of spots, splotches, etc on the front and near the cuffs- makes me feel slobbish. Tried using warm water with a little dish soap but to no avail. Maybe black is a better color choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, warm and comfortable I love this coat and get many compliments on it. It is warm and great at blocking wind. I love the soft lightweight material. Generally I don't like wearing a coat, even in winter, but never leave home without this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best winter jacket I know you read the title but it truly is the best winter jacket...for me. I live in Seattle and we don't typically have harsh winters, although, we do dip down to the 20s or high teens. I've worn this jacket with only a plain t-shirt or something light underneath while running errands or to work and I have yet to say I was ever cold. I've also taken it up sledding and never once felt the breezy winter weather. I bought a size Large and was layered up when I went up the mountains and still had plenty of room. I don't like to be restricted and like to have options for layering so I tend to buy one size larger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent coat for value! I bought this for my 15-year old daughter who wanted a black sweater-down jacket. I thought I would trade her my sweater-down for this jacket, but after trying this on there was no way she will trade me, darn it! Great fit. The extra water protection on the shoulders is a wonderful idea. She wore it (non-stop) over Christmas break...from 65 degree weather in Palm Desert visiting grandparents to 28 degree weather in Big Bear after skiing. Also of interest is that she's been 'allergic' to down in the past (down comforters make her congested) but hasn't had any problem with this jacket. I'm wondering if it's something in the process--a chemical--that usually bothers her that isn't used by Patagonia, or if the weave in the jacket somehow contains the down better? Job well done, Patagonia!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! It's perfect! I especially love the pocket on the front, so much easier to pull my phone in and out
