Efficiency in the alpine means simulclimbing, speedy belay transitions and, of course, exceptional insulation. Our Fitz Roy Down Jacket uses 800-fill-power Traceable Down (European goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked). It’s baffled in the core, with high-loft quilting in the arms, allowing the down to trap your heat inside the 100% nylon shell. A tall collar adds warmth, and the redesigned patterning creates a sleeker silhouette. Underarm gussets improve range of motion and the center-front zipper (now 2-way) has an internal storm flap and a soft, kissing-welt zipper garage with a microfleece-lined chin flap for next-to-skin comfort. A drawcorded hem seals in warmth, and the handwarmer pockets close with zippers. An interior chest pocket stashes smaller items, and a large, internal, drop-in stretch-mesh pocket warms frozen gloves. Soft, low-profile, internal elastic-bound cuffs push up easily, and the included stuffsack has a built-in clip-in loop. The DWR (durable water repellent) finish helps shed snow.
  • Lightweight and durable 100% nylon Pertex Quantum® fabric is soft to the touch and has a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to fend off moisture

  • Redesigned patterning creates a sleek silhouette; a 2-way center-front Vislon® zipper backed with internal storm flap and soft kissing-welt zipper garage and chin flap with microfleece creates next-to-skin comfort

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Traceable Down Insulation

All Patagonia virgin down is certified to the Advanced Global Traceable Down standard by NSF International. The Advanced certification level means our down suppliers conducted audits all the way back to the parent farms to ensure there was no live-plucking and that broader humane animal welfare standards were faithfully observed throughout the supply chain. Women's Fitz Roy Down Jacket is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fatal flaw! I was so excited to receive this jacket and the navy color, fabric and warmth of fill were all perfect. Most of all I was really pleased about the two-way zipper but, unfortunately, that was the source of the problem. To be completely clear, the zipper itself worked great but the down-containing baffles or storm flaps next to the zip were way too puffy and caused the fabric to become snagged every time I tried to pull the zipper from the bottom towards the top of the jacket. This happened on both the small and medium sizes. Please, please fix this awesome jacket. Bring back an option with a hood and also add a little bit more room at the base / sweep of the garment so us shorter folks don’t have to size up as the jacket hits a slightly wider part of the body. Thank you Patagonia!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO Toasty Warm!!! This jacket keeps me warm no matter what the temperature is outside. It is super light weight(which I love) and the cut is flattering. If there is a hooded version next year, I would buy another one. It's my everyday go to jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super Warm But Not Super Durable I've had this jacket for upwards of three years (the old version, with a hood), and I love it. I'm a Cross Country skier, and the Fitz Roy is perfect for standing around in the cold while waiting for a race start. I've also used it for downhill skiing, and I usually wear it for my day-to-day life. I can honestly say that I've never been cold while wearing this jacket! I really like the huge internal pocket (designed for skins, but also perfect for sneaking burritos into movie theaters). The reason that I didn't give this jacket five stars is durability. It's meant to be incredibly lightweight and packable (and I appreciate that--it's my warmest jacket, and also takes up the least space when traveling) but that means the material is relatively thin. It feels like any sort of snag could rip a gaping hole. The other day, I looked at my sleeve and it had such a rip. I was able to repair it with Tenacious Tape, but the durability of the outer shell is my main complaint about this jacket. After I bought my Fitz Roy, two of my friends and my sister also bought their own. It's certainly an excellent jacket, and if you're not too hard on your gear (or if you don't mind a little tape), you should be fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back the hood! It's ridiculous that men have a hooded option but women don't. If I'm buying a jacket that is intended to be this warm, there is no way I'm buying it without a hood - it's completely impractical. Please bring back the hood!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just needs a hood!!!!! This is a great jacket, no doubt. It's toasty warm. But it doesn't hold a candle to the women's Fitz Roy Down Parka (the version with a hood), which doesn't seem to exist for women anymore, even though a men's version does. If you're going to climb mountains, you need an insulated hood, so this jacket just won't cut it. For that matter, if you're going to walk your dog during polar vortex season in Chicago, you need an insulated hood!! Please, please, please bring back the parka. Women spend time in seriously cold conditions too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FITZ ROY PARKA The version of this parka with the hood is the BEST WARMEST AWESOMEST jacket ever! Please go back to making the women's Fitz Roy with a hood. I have several women friends who live in this jacket and wouldn't buy the non hooded version. This jacket is comfortable alone or on really cold days beneath a shell, or tooling around town in the evenings. Super warm. Super comfortable. It's a must-own piece!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a light, warm, beautiful jacket! I bought this jacket about a month ago. Have been enjoying wearing it everyday. Love this jacket! It keeps me warm and comfortable on cold winter days in Colorado. I have a navy blue one which is a beautiful color! I absolutely recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Warm! If you want a light but very, very warm jacket, this jacket is a great choice! I think that it runs a little large. I ordered the XS...I am 5'6" and 120lbs. It is roomy, but snug at the hips/thigh. Love the navy blue color!!!
