For those among us who are not pinnipeds (but simulate them), we offer the new Nanogrip Sunset Swell One-Piece Swimsuit—our highest-performance one-piece surf suit. Featuring a blended Nanogrip lining in the bodice for increased grip in turbulent water, the suit is made of soft, stretchy and durable 83% recycled nylon/17% spandex (solids) or 83% recycled polyester/17% spandex (prints) body fabric. With full coverage and a supportive design for larger bust sizes, it has a V-neck front and double straps that rest away from the neck for comfort and freedom of movement while surfing, swimming or paddling. Reinforced back detailing provides additional support, and the adjustable back ties can be cinched down tight for a secure, customized fit. Soft, removable side-entry cups for modesty; moderate coverage in the seat. Fair Trade Certified™ sewn.

Recycled Nylon

Although we’ve been using recycled polyester in our garments for 20 years, for some reason locked deep in polymer chemistry, nylon is more difficult to recycle than polyester. After years of research, development, and testing, we’re finally finding some recycled nylon fibers that are suitable for apparel.

Some of the recycled nylon we use comes from post-industrial waste fiber, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into reusable nylon fiber.

We’re diligently searching for a success story with recycled nylon. The challenge lies ahead of us, and we’re committed to discovering the best methods to recycle nylon fiber, but it appears this evolution will take many years.
