I have worn these 500 times
This is the only online clothing review I have ever written but I need everyone to know how great these pants are. I have 3 pairs and have worn each pair 500 times. I wear them on set for 12+ hours a day, I wear them traveling, I dress them up, I dress them down, I love love love these pants. Worth every penny!
Love the cuff, hate the pockets
Brought back the best feature which was the soft stretchy cuff, but changed the interior fabric of pockets to mesh... I cannot do mesh pockets, it's a texture thing for me. Sad because these are my favorite pants and I can't wear the new ones. Will wear my previous seasons till they deteriorate.
Must have pants
I know these are a little speedy, but my goodness are they worth it. The old style was great, but they ran so large it was hard to buy a good fit online. This new style is much more accurate. If you are between, go down. If you are a true size, stick with it. The legs are spacious, the waist has a ton of give with a yoga band. Smaller waisted ladie... Read Mores may want to go down a size. The pockets do have a little flare on the hip but I don’t mind them at all. These pants are thin, stretchy, quick dry, lint and wrinkle resistant, moveable and don’t shrink. The cuff at the ankle is perfect for my 5’6” height and the cuff material is a little thicker but also stretchy. I love these pants more than any other I’ve tried. I’m a little thick in the middle, 190# and the XL fits great. I have a 39/40” waist, 45/46” hip. Go by hip measurement over the waist for sizing.
Perfect travel/hiking pant
Getting ready to go on a big trip where I knew I would be walking and hiking a lot, I ordered five different brands of pants. These won hands down. Fit like a glove. Didnt droop or fall down or lose shape. Good looking. COMFY. I bought five pair. Worked excellent in Switzerland going all over the Alps, paragliding, even wore them in the airplane.
I ended up sizing down from a M to a S, I'm 5'3" and wear a size 29 / 8. I do see the pocket lining but everywhere else fits fine and the length is better for me. The front pocket does hold my phone and the back pockets has 1 open and one w a zipper, all great for dog walking. Please consider making petite length pants.
Great overall fit in this years design, awkward pocket design
These pants are great except for the pockets. I agree with other reviewers that the pockets are designed in a way where the inner mesh pocket liner is oddly exposed/visible when moving or sitting (or just standing if you have wider hips), which is not flattering and exposes a meshy fabric around the hip area. This was a deal breaker for me so I ret... Read Moreurned. However, I love the rest of the design for these pants and would purchase in a heartbeat if the pocket design was fixed. The rest of the pants design is much more comfortable and flattering than the designs of the past several years IMO. The colors are great, the slimmer pant fit is flattering, and the length is great. The waist band is also a better fit than prior years. I hope to see this same design with revised pockets in the future.
Best Pants Ever
I cannot say enough good things about these pants. I bought them for sailing lessons because of the light fabric while still giving my legs some protection from sun and the elements. For function they have give but do not stretch out and I felt like I could easily move around tight spaces with ease. Is there a winter version of these? I might need them. 10/10 recommend!

Pockets not right
I wanted to love these pants. The fabric, weight and style of pant is great! Unfortunately, the front pockets gap open, especially when sitting or moving. It feels like they are not placed correctly. Design changes ruined these pants!!
Dude - why did they mess around with a great design!??? I have two older pairs that are WAY better of this same pant. The front pockets have been majorly changed in a bad way. Perfect Hiking, Casual Pant
Just purchased a second pair. I love these pants for backpacking / hiking, travel, and even casual wear. It fits snug but doesn't bind anywhere. Same with the ankles - they stay up if you pull them up, but don't bind. Plenty of big pockets - I can *just* squeeze my iphone into the zip pocket on the leg, but mostly carry in my back pocket. I have always worn convertible pants until I tried these. Though I might hesitate to wear these if it was SUPER hot and humid outside as these aren't going to make it past your knees for sure, but I think they are great for most hikes and backpack trips I would do and they are my go to for plane travel as well now. They also seemed to do a fair job of keeping away the bug bites on my last backpack trip in Pukaskwa. I was worried the length might be too short, but they are just perfect. I am 5'4" and have a shorter torso and longer legs and they hit right at the bottom of my ankle. I am normally a size small / 6 and the small fit perfectly.
Happy Hike & Bike
I use these pants almost exclusively for mountain biking. I prefer them to MTB specific pants because the fabric is stretchy and more lightweight / breathable-- perfect for steep CA climbs. Love the updated version even more!
Ok, I loved the old version of these pants, so I hesitated to try the updated version based on comments. I finally tried them. The fit is slightly different, but they stretch out a bit during wear and the cuffs are much more comfortable that the previous version. They are great!
Thoughts on the new version (SP22)
What's good about this version (SP22) -- The cuffs are easier to pull up and the mesh pockets are nice for breathability. Overall I think they're better for adventuring than the previous design. The new fit is slimmer, but sizing up worked for me. The waistband and fabric are still great, please don't change them. What's bad --... Read More The thigh pocket has been pretty useless. The logo placement is better and more subtle on the new version, but why make it a flap? It looks cheap compared to the patch. The new cuffs and pockets are not as clean-looking. The previous deign was better a better crossover piece for everyday wear. I think the problem with this pant is that Patagonia is asking too much of one design. Maybe split it into two products -- make the previous design the Studio and this version can be the Adventure or something? Remove the thigh pocket, maybe add a zippered compartment behind one of the hip pockets. Use the patch logo on both (no flaps!!). For the previous design, relax the ankle cuff elastic a bit and maybe offer a long option. The current version could use a bit more fabric (an inch?) in the hips and butt for a more feminine fit. I'm 5ft5in 135lbs, 34in belly and 38in hips. The small is snug on my waist and butt, relaxed in the legs, with cuffs about 3in above my ankles and waistband at my belly button. The medium is baggy throughout, with cuffs at my ankles and waistband at my hips. I prefer the medium for being active and the small for casual wear. Since this version has a less casual look, I only kept the medium.
I'm 5'1" with a 27" inseam so I was pleased to see these pants had an inseam that would fit me. The side pocket is so small it might as well not be there, it won't fit anything besides a small keyring. And all pockets are very thin and will bulge showing the exact shape of whatever you put into them. The pants overall are quite comfortable and easy to move around in. I have a 27" waist and 37" hips and the XS fit well. So these are good pants if you're always carrying a backpack or purse and never use your pockets, but they didn't suit my needs.

Super comfortable, could do with mid/low rise
Would've given these 5 stars but I'm not a fan of high rise. That aside, these pants are extremely comfortable and I actually love the cuffs, despite seeing comments wanting to bring back the old style. Hard to please everyone, but new style works for me :)

The size chart was much more accurate than the interactive guide where you enter age, etc. That guide said to order a Medium but I ordered a Small and it fits good - maybe even a little roomy. Material is very thin but seems wind and water resistant so I think will be perfect for hiking and golfing. Love them.
Wish They Fit
Patagonia still cant figure out larger sizing. These pants fit great in the hip but very large in the waist so they fall down and gap at the waist, which is wild bc the waistband is stretchy. This is an updated review since trying my size in the old style - S. 53 130. For me the new style is not different in size. The waist of the 'new' small was well over an inch narrower than the old pair - and that's on a flat surface. The pant legs are probably about a half inch narrower. What a disappointment, especially since the color I want is already sold out in almost all sizes so I can't even exchange them for a Medium. I hope to find these someplace where I can try them on, as I don't even trust that the Medium would fit at this point. The newer version is lovely and well made with a couple of improvements - a small zip pocket on the side big enough for keys or a credit card, and one of the back pockets zips shut as well. Great pants, but I'm disappointed at the inconsistency in fit compared to prior years.
Good casual pant
Ive been eyeing these for a while and got them on sale, Im satisfied! I got them for running, biking, hiking and I will probably wear them in clinic with a nicer top. They are lightweight and the ink black is a dark grey color. Im 54/115lbs/0-2 and the extra small fits perfectly without being too tight.
I love Happy Hike pants.
I have seven pairs of these pants and they are wonderful. I ordered this pair as soon as I saw the color. Sadly the back of these are very small compared to all others. I am returning these and hoping they will come out with other great colors. I can wear them everywhere.

Runs small if you're not slender
I love the Happy Hike pants and have used my older pair for years. The newly designed pants are small and pull at the pockets if you are not slender. I used to have a size small (that ran a little big) and recently ordered a Medium and they are smaller than the size Small in the older design (confusing!!). If you're slender with no extra weigh... Read Moret they should be fine, but if not they'll be too small.
