Excellent Quality - Seems to run a little large
I have never been disappointed with Patagonia products. This vest seems to run a little larger than I expected, but I have not yet decided whether to try a smaller size, so I have not been wearing it. This isn't truly a product review, but I'm offering my feedback, for what it's worth. Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback on this "regular" fit vest, Michael! Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Service team for an exchange or return. We'll be happy to [help](https://help.patagonia.com/s/)!
Warm and comfortable
This purchase is intended to replace my old synchilla vest (old as when Patagonia was putting their logo under the left pocket by the hem!). This vest is warmer and cozier than the old one. My only complaint is this vest unlike my old one has no binding, drawcord or stretchy material at the hem to keep the wind out. Other than the open hem, I recom... Read Moremend this item
A Classic Performer
This is simply the best! Simple, straight forward, functional, and looks great in any situation! True warm, easy to pack, everyone should have a synchilla vest in their bag as a basic, must have. I wear mine mostly casually, but it functions well running, hiking, and fishing. It's a great value!
I bought this synchilla vest to replace one Id bought in the same color many yrs ago. This vest runs in the small side. Im a size 6-8 and originally purchased the medium. I returned the medium for a large. The large was way too big on the top half but I figured I could take it in and make it work. Ive had to buy size large in everything Ive bought ... Excellent layer for cool Florida mornings
I have been buying Patagonia products for years, always reliable and well worth the money in my opinion because they last. This synchilla vest feels different than the one I left up North, but I just had to have one to layer for those cool Florida mornings on the golf course. Other reviews said the material pills, haven't seen that yet, but ha... Read Moreven't worn it a while lot yet...thus far it is excellent!!!
The best available.
This product is just like all of the 9 fleece and down products that I have. It is well made, performs as it should and looks good. I look forward and dread getting emails from Patagonia showing their products. I am running out of hangers but am so attracted to your products.
Lightweight and warm
I bought this in oat for work and evening walks with my wife. It is very soft, lightweight and does not compromise in warmth. I am 62 200 lbs and I got an XL. I definitely should have gotten an L for a better fit but because it is a little roomy I am able to wear hoodies underneath it. If you are just trying to wear flannels or tee shirts underneat... too much volume for the length
This vest is a luxurious and very warm fabric, and I know from past experience that it is also very durable. The cut is designed for people with big bellies, so for tall and slender people (like me) a pillow could fit inside the vest with me. Since Patagonia makes such a huge product line, why not include some "tall" sizes for popular pr... Read Moreoducts? Many users of Patagonia products are very fit outdoors types who do not have big bellies, and would appreciate a more slender design.
A high-quality vest!
This Patagonia vest has exceeded all my expectations for a light, warm, and weather resistant vest for hiking in Colorado in several climates. It is light, yet warm when needed, and extremely comfortable! I like the many pockets, even having pockets inside for small items and making it extra versatile. Highly recommended!
Recently recieved this vest as a Christmas present. Looks cheap. Fits cheap. I hope they didnt pay more than 5 dollars for it. If they did they spent too much.
Hi Deborah, thanks for taking the time to write us a review! We're really sorry to hear about the disappointment with the vest. Your satisfaction is always guaranteed so you're welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html).
Great vest. Warm and stylish
I love this vest and I wear it often in the fall and winter. It's one of my favorites. But I'm disappointed because it's pilling already. Otherwise it seems to be made very well.
Hi Joshua, thanks for taking the time to write us a review! We're stoked to hear that it's been keeping your warm but we're sorry about the pilling. Your satisfaction is always guaranteed so you're welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html#searchterm=return).
Nice vest quality construction but after 3 washes it still sheds black fibers onto shirts.
Thanks for your feedback, Sean and sorry to hear about the pilling. To prevent pilling, we recommend washing it either by hand in cool to cold water, or separately in your washing machine on the gentle cycle. It's best to lay it flat to dry rather than place it in the dryer where the fabric can easily get upbraided. To remove pilling that has already occurred, a sweater shaver or sweater stone is an excellent tool and can help the vest look brand new again.
Synchilla Vest is an essential layer item
I still have my first Synchilla Vest that I bought back in the late 90s... The original was well made and Im expecting the same from the new Classic. I use the vest as a second insulation la... Read Moreyer for many of my jackets. To me, its an essential layer to own... I was looking for an inexpensive light (no bulk) vest that looks good and is easily worn under a jacket or coat. The Synchilla vest met all my requirements. Fleece vest hard to find this one is good!
Positives: good fit, nice and long. I usually fit an XL and my fit on this was L. Other comments: I could not find a rating, but this seems like a 100 and I would have preferred 200 thickness. But still a nice vest.
Hi Chris! Thanks so much for the feedback regarding the weight of the fleece. For our more causal fleece products, we do not rate the temperature/weight. None the less, we are happy to give you our advice based off your specific needs. Additionally, we do rate our more technical fleece and those will be labeled on a scale of lightweight, midweight, to thermal weight. If it turns out that you need something a little warmer we'd suggest taking a look at the [Men's Retro Pile Fleece Vest](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-retro-pile-fleece-vest/22821.html).
Incredibly comfortable and durable
I have enjoyed the the class synchilla vest quite a bit since I have purchased it. It is the perfect New England fall vest because it does not make you run warm, but since provides a lot of warmth during those chilly mornings. It feels durable and it quite comfortable as well.
Ok, Patagonia could really do a better job with their fit descriptions. Both the better sweater vest and the synchilla vest are labeled "Regular Fit" on the website. My husband loves this vest! It's perfect, not a huge commitment meaning it's not thick and bulky, yet gives you that extra bit of warmth on chilly winter days.
