I bought this as a long sleeve to wear in the hospital. I believe it is the perfect long sleeve for hospital use. Keeps me cool when Im moving, but warm when things slow down.
I loved the short sleeve Capilene Cool Trail. Excellent fit, nice weight and torso length. The long sleeved version seems to be a little lighter, and the grey version is especially prone to show underarm stains after repeated use. Would be an excellent 5 star choice if it were still available in black.

Sizing issues
Large shirts I purchased in the past fit well. Now the large size is too large and baggy and the medium size is too small and tight. I miss the old sizing. Frustrating.
Thank you for this feedback on the new design of this shirt, John. We're sorry neither size fit you well! Please feel free to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) anything that isn't going to work for you.

Comfort and Look are Outstanding
I have a closet full of these capilene shirts and they are the best. The colors, cut, quality and feel are exceptional.
A Trailblazing Gem - My Take on the Patagonia Men's Long-Sleeved Capilene® Cool Trail Shirt
Alright, folks, let me tell you about the Patagonia Men's Long-Sleeved Capilene® Cool Trail Shirt it's a game-changer! Now, here's the real deal: comfort and performance. The fabric is something else lightweight and airy, so even when I'm working up a sweat, I don't feel like I'm trapped in a sauna. I've tackled some serious hikes, and this shirt just moves with you. No weird bunching or annoying chafing it's like a second skin.
But the real hero is the sweat game. I mean, seriously, this shirt's got magical moisture-wicking powers. I've been on some tough treks, and I never felt like I was swimming in my own sweat. It's like the shirt whisks away moisture before I even notice it. And let's talk about those scorching days this shirt kept me cool and collected, no matter how hot it got out there.
Now, here's a little nugget that some of you might find gold if you're dealing with those pesky night sweats, this shirt could be your new best friend. I've worn it during some restless nights, and it actually helps keep me dry and comfortable. Who knew a trail shirt could pull double duty?
Oh, and can we talk about Patagonia's green game? This shirt is made from recycled stuff, which is a big thumbs-up in my book. Knowing that I'm doing my bit for the planet while rocking some top-notch gear feels pretty darn good.
Durability is no joke either. I've put this shirt through the wringer muddy trails, accidental spills, you name it. After all that, it's still holding up strong. That's the Patagonia quality right there.
Summing it up, the Patagonia Men's Long-Sleeved Capilene® Cool Trail Shirt is the real deal. Whether you're scaling mountains or just taking a leisurely walk, this shirt is your sidekick. Super comfy, crazy good at handling sweat, eco-friendly, and tough as nails what more could you ask for?

So, do yourself a favor and snag the Patagonia Men's Long-Sleeved Capilene® Cool Trail Shirt. Your outdoor game is about to go up a few notches, my friends! And hey, it might just save you from those nighttime sweats too!
This shirt travels with me for work for outdoor exploration, hiking and does not look out of place before or after in a more urban environment and restaurants. It is "dressy enough" and functional. I have used this on trail runs, under a dry suit for 5 days in a row, hiking for 3 days of cold, hot, cold weather. It is simply the best light weight layer I have owned. The stink factor never really started, which surprised me. It dried really fast as well which I expected but still really appreciated. All in all, it simply is a great piece.
These Cool Trail shirts are my go-to for mountain biking, solid nice fitting t's without a bunch of logos all over. The fit and sizing are consistent throughout the *Cool Trail shirt offering. Will definitely purchase it again when new colors become available.
My favorite long sleeve casual shirt. Even tho it says trail shirt in the name I wear it casually and thats something I don't do with the regular Capilene cool daily shirts because they're a little revealing. I have worn capilene for decades primarily as a base layer during the colder months or for sun and insect protection during the warmer months, but I recently purchased two more for a trip to Costa Rica. When everyone else was commenting or complaining about the heat, I was cool and very comfortable and never felt overheated. I may never wear a t-shirt on a hot tropical hike again. A+ Patagonia!
Material is nice. It has a good weight to it, feeling durable and comfortable but still lightweight and wicking. It looks good casually and performs well.

Shirt feels significant over the everyday shirt, but not too heavy. Feels and looks more like a cotton shirt too, which may be what some are looking for. My only complaints are the color not being a shade of Navy I like (tends to get washed out with any grey pants), and the hem in the back, but otherwise, a great overall shirt.
My only complaint is it runs really large. I have a 42" chest but a 32" waist. It's certainly wearable but I really "swim" in it. Guess I'll try to size down on my next one.

Sheer Fabric
Was planning on using this piece as both a technical baselayer and casual top, however the "Sisu Brown" fabric is quite sheer / transparent and shows off a bit too much to wear without a layer underneath. Will be returning. Otherwise fit is great and fabric feels nice against the skin.

Using the pullover for canoe trip and physical therapy. Best pullover of this type that I have had. Planning to buy a second one.

Great fit
I just love these long sleeved capilenes. They are so thin and so easy to pack half a dozen and travel with!
I use this as a base layer in Florida winters. It goes from 40 degrees to high 70s in a day without issue. Good for hotter weather as well! Wonderfully soft material and good sizing
The sleeve length is quite short. When arms are extended, it rides up about 4 inches above my wrists. It does not fit at all like the Mens Capilene Midweight Longsleve Crew Shirt. The selves of this shirt are much shorter.

Hi Donald, thank you for sharing this review. We're so sorry to hear these shirts weren't what you were expecting! Itchy tags
The material used for the tags sewn into the left side seam (fabric materials, washing instructions, etc.) are now a scratchy paper or tyvek material, rather than the soft fabric used in previous versions. Material not as good as the last version
The cut of the shirt is fine but the last versions jersey style material was much more comfortable. If the company sticks with this material I would suggest adding more stretch to the material. I won't be buying any more of these unless the fabric changes. Also, please add thumb loops
Patagonia is one of the few companies I can think of that doesn't put thumb loops or holes in its long sleeve garments. Especially confusing considering my old stuff (2004-2010) had them? I really like the capilene cool trail fabric, but I would not describe it as just something for hotter temperatures. It does do a great job of not retaining moisture, so it is good in high humidity. I love Patagonia's base layers - I still have a merino base layer from almost 6 years ago of daily wearing. It's freyed and almost too old to use. Capilene cool trail shirt journey
The shirts were bought for my husband who traveled to 3 different countries recently...Beirut, Istanbul & Tel Aviv. He loved the feel and comfort!
Makes a good base layer for moderate-effort fall exercising, ie. hiking, mountain biking, and running. Makes an equally adept casual piece with the incredibly soft material. Soft colors look fantastic.
Autumn temps have cooled down enough to really enjoy the Capilene Cool Trail. At about 12c found it had just the right amount of heat retention on a trail run, while breathing and not overheating. I think it will be a great piece on its own (a single base layer) for alpine/ cross country skiing under a top layer depending on temps and humidity. When the temps are around 0c and there’s a wet snow falling, I think it’s going to be awesome!
