It's like I'm not Wearing Shorts at All
My friend recommended these shorts to me after we met up for the day and suggested I get a size up. I'm usually a small in shorts, but the mediums I fit perfectly and feel like I'm not even wearing them. I can move freely, they breathe well and I look forward to wearing them.
Liner elastic was stretched out
I got these in the mail today. Was super psyched until I noticed that the elastic on the liner leg holes were all stretched out. There is no elasticity at all. Why would the elastic be stretched out? The shorts fit great, but the liner looks like saggy underpants. Tried them on a run and kept getting wedgies.
Hi Natalie, thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We're really sorry to hear about the disappointment with the liner. We appreciate this feedback as its how we improve things for future seasons. Your satisfaction is always guaranteed so you're welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) the shorts to us.
Prefer the older version!
The length is fine, but the internal elastic makes these super snug. I have XS in the previous version a few years back. Those ones are a perfect fit. The current version I have XS and they are almost uncomfortable - especially if I tuck in a base layer top. I definitely recommend they either make the internal elastic looser so the fit is the same ... Read Moreas previous version. OR go back to the tie waist. The one plus with the internal elastic is less bulk and smaller to pack. But I much prefer a happy tummy! Otherwise - great short, super light weight and breathable.
Smalls are a little large; extra-smalls a little small
I love these shorts, and will keep the size small I originally ordered. However, for long-distance runners w/my body type (5'8"; 120lbs), they run a bit big. I love the light fabric and the short inseam, though, so I plan to run them into the ground. (FYI: If you sweat a lot [like I do], try to remember [like I forgot to do] that the colo... I love Baggies but These are Better!
I think I bought these 2 weeks ago, they have been washed twice and I have worn them every day. They wash really well, they have become my go-to short. I workout in them (no restrictions while doing a squat), I backpack in them (great under a backpacking waistbelt and don't ride up), I garden in them (they stay put). These shorts are extremely... Read More comfy. One other thing, I don't run but I do walk and hike, when I am doing a neighborhood walk of a couple miles I am able to store my iphone 10 (in a clunky, Lifeproof case) upright in the back pocket, no problem. I am walking or hiking without a pack for 3-4 miles at a time, my shorts don't move and neither does my phone.
I love these!
Overall these shorts are good. I am always looking for shorts that won't ride up while on short runs (~ 2miles) or long hikes. These generally stay where they should during short runs and while walking, however they do run just a tad small I think. I wear a size 6 shorts and sometimes an 8, so I got the medium - I wouldn't say they'r... Read Moree too small, but I certainly wouldn't recommend going down a size. They fit a little more snug in the crotch than I was hoping. Overall, they don't ride up too badly so I can avoid thigh chaffing and they look nice.
Love the fit!
These shorts fit like a glove. The cut and style of this shorts waistband is the best. No drawstring needed! On long walks or long runs, they stay nicely in place. The liner is light and airy, and while these are short shorts, I never feel like anything but my legs are showing. Im a little modest so yup, I checked to make sure no cheeks or any othe... I am 56, 120 lbs and I usually wear a size small. I ordered these thinking they would be great for running and hiking in the summer, but when I received them in the mail, they were enormous. Too short, yet way too baggy. They looked like balloon shorts. I did like the material and design though. However, they justdidnt work for me, sadly I will hav... Read Moree to be returning these. Distance runner's dream
Currently on my third pair. I'm a marathon runner who trains year-round. 5'3", 125lbs with muscular legs. I adore these shorts. The BEST pair of Shorts!!!
I exercise everyday by walking a long distance. I got the black shorts. They are very LIGHT and COOL. After washing the shorts in cold water, I laid them to dry. The Best Shorts in the World.
I exercise a lot and needed a pair of shorts for HOT Oklahoma Summer. I wear this pair of shorts for walking. These shorts are very LIGHT and COOL. I have other shorts of different brands but this pair of shorts from Patagonia is the best. I recommend others to buy this pair of shorts. Thank you patagonia.com and the excellent customer service.
Best shorts Ive found
Love these shorts so much for hot Texas weather. I spend a lot of time outdoors and these shorts are perfect. Dry quickly, fit well (loose on me but thats how I like them - 58 about 150lbs), and the pocket in the back fits small essentials like keys and chapstick. I have three pairs already and cant wait for more colors!
I'm 5'7 and 135lbs and I normally order a size small in shorts/pants. I got a medium in these and I'm glad I did. perfect running shorts
These are my favorite running shorts! I used to only wear lululemon shorts (comparable size 2 lululemon to xxs patagonia) and then I got these shorts and they are now my favorite and have been wearing them for 6 months. Great pair of workout shorts
Very comfortable and attractive. Wide waist band keeps them in place. Short length is flattering and allows free movement during physical activity. Fitted around waist and upper hips and loose fit at bottom. I'm 5'3 and 122 lbs (usually size 2-4) with slightly wider hips and curvy bottom and XS was way too tight. Small is perfect.
Easily my favorite running shorts
These are the shorts I reach for first- in a drawer filled with many others. Why? They are light, dry fast, and never cling, chafe or ride up. I am in-between a size small and medium, and went for the medium- they are ever so slightly large which is perfect and comfortable. Good waistband, nice styling and all around great running short. Cute & Comfortable
My go to shorts. I have them in three different colors. Im 123 lbs. I have a bubble butt so some of Patagonias stuff doesnt always fit me back there. The fit on these is perfect and they look adorable. Also perfect for days when Im in and out of the water, they dry very quickly.
Needs more/better pockets
Love the feel and fit of these shorts for running and I wear them all the time (though I might get an XS next time). My only complaint is the pocket system, which is a little sketchy. I have worn many items from Patagonia, and I feel these were the worst. If you have any butt at all, they will not fit. I even ordered a size up and they were so small and rather uncomfortable. I find that your clothes are increasingly being made for those without any shape.
Hi Beth, thank you so much for your review. We're so sorry the fit didn't work out. In the future we're always happy to provide the exact garment measurements so you can feel confident in your purchase.
The perfect active shorts for this Mum!
I have these shorts in 4 colours, would buy more if available! I wear them bike riding and hiking, and they keep me cool and comfortable. Shortest shorts I have ever owned, but still flattering. Great running short but...
I LOVE these running shorts. They are super lightweight and comfortable. My only critique is that the liner in the shorts fits like bikini underwear and is kind of tight for me so it rides up a bit when I run. Just didnt do it for me
The shorts looked better on the model than in real life. They sat much lower on the hips than I expected and the slit also seemed more forward-facing in real life. Love the colors
I got the red shorts, and I really like the color contrast. They have a lot of stretch which is nice. The first downside is that the line... Read Morer is pretty skimpy, so I don't feel very covered in them; I wouldn't do any crazy stretches in public wearing these. And the second negative is that the pocket in the waistband does not have a zipper. I often drive somewhere to run and like to have a zippered pocket so I know I won't lose my key. If these had a little more liner coverage and a zippered pocket they would be perfect. I did have to return and size up one size and customer service was great.

I specifically bought these shorts for a vacation to Texas in the summer. I wanted a lightweight, durable short that could dry easily if got wet from the water park or ocean. I love the lilac color! Short and light
It can be hard for me to tell if I should get the XS or S in Patagonia's clothes. I went with XS and probably should've sized up to S. Good, but weird cut
So, these shorts are comfy as heck as soon as you’ve worn them once. They fit snugly, but not too tight. However, they look a lot shorter than your typical 3.5 shirts due to the way they’re cut. Like wearing nothing
These shorts feel like you are not wearing anything when on. I prefer to wear these for hiking and not so much running, because it seems like they are built for ladies with smaller butts. Personally, the lining doesn't stay in place; not to a point where it gives a wedgie but enough for it to be awkward. Despite this, I really love them!
Cute Pattern, But Different Design Than 2017
I love the pattern of these shorts, but there are a couple things to note. 1) The pocket on the older design had a zip closure. New model, No new features
This shorts runs really small compared to the last model. Additionally, the fit is more like lululemon speed up short. The leg are really form fitting, and not as comfortable as the last model. Most distressing is the new pocket design; not zippered and on the waist band. This is my first pair of non-baggie/barely baggie shorts from Patagonia. I love the color of the lavender/grey short- and the length is what I expected.
