I purchased one of these pullovers 7 years ago for my then-teenage granddaughter as a special treat for her prior to a major surgery, and liked it so much that I bought one for myself as soon as hers was delivered! It has been my go-to pullover at home all these years; I still wear it almost everyday. I decided to splurge and order a second pullove... Read Morer for variety (and was prepared to order a 3rd!), and am extremely disappointed. I have to agree with the other negative reviews. I went ahead and placed my order despite these reviews, thinking/hoping that my experience would be different. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The fabric of new one is thinner and lighter-weight, and the cut is different than the old one. Less importantly for me, the new one doesn't have the nice color contrast edging at the hem and the bottom edges of the sleeves. I am sad to be returning this item. Please bring the old version back!

I love how warm this pullover is, BUT
I very much enjoy these pullovers. I own three of them and love how warm and soft and cozy they are. But man the sizing leaves much to be desired. I am a solid Large with everything Patagonia, but for whatever reason the large on this pullover is small. I don't have long arms at all, but the sleeves are super short - if I lift my arms above my... Read More head, the sleeves come almost halfway down my forearm. The neck is also very tight, and I cant button it all the way without feeling like Im being choked. I tried getting an XL, and thats too big; definitely defeats the slim fit.
Its a great layering piece, but every time I wear it, Im reminded all day of how small it feels on. If you're not at all bulky, this might fit you well. But if you're in between sizes, this may not be the best pullover.
Warm, soft and comfortable. It's probably too warm to wear on a run even in typical northeastern winter weather.
I bought my normal size and there is room for layering.
The quality of the fabric and the construction of the seams is not good enough. I am disappointed and will return. I don't think this fleece has the coziness and durability like the one I've had for years
We're sorry to hear that this version of our Re-Tool has been disappointing. We're glad you were able to return it to the Patagonia-owned store near you. You might prefer the cozy feel of our [Los Gatos, Retro Pile or Lightweight Synchilla fleece](https://www.patagonia.com/shop/womens-fleece). Thanks for your review, Lisa!

Comfy and perfect
This is my second Re-Tool Snap-T Fleece pullover. I loved my first one so much I needed another in a different color. I love the slim fit because it looks tidy and it is so warm. I wear it to work on cold days and for outdoor activities. Its lack of bulkiness allows it to fit well under vests and jackets.
I have an older version of this fleece from a few years ago, and it's one of my favorites. I bought a new one to get a different color, and it's awful. The fabric is scratchy, not soft, but the worst part is that it leaves lint everywhere. The shirt I wore when I tried it on is absolutely covered in lint, and the sweatshirt left a lint tr... My favorite fleece out of all from all manufacturers
The Retool Pullover is very warm and I wear them (I have several) all winter and sometimes camping/hiking in the Sierras in warmer months. It tends to run a bit small(for me anyway) so I go up a size
the re-tool snap t pull over fits true to size. i don't feel constricted in movement when i am wearing it with one or two thinner layers underneath. however my patagonia puffer jacket (also size large) is a little tight when i wear it over the pullover. i recently wore the pullover on a sunny, 50 degree hike and it was the only layer i needed ... This is my 2nd retool sweater. The first one I bought was 10 years ago when I was still a college student. Even after 10 years, my old retool sweater is still thicker, fluffier, and standding up to the rest of time. The new retool is definitely thinner and not as fluffy. I weighed both sweaters on my kitchen scale. The old retool weighs 476 grams. ... Read MoreThe new retool only weighs 430 grams. Patagonia is a reputable company, so it's quite disappointing to see this happening.
I was worried the small would be too snug, and this is definitely a close-fitted fleece. Its a little tight in the shoulders but ultimately I think a medium would be too small. As is, its perfect; I can wear it by itself or under a jacket and its not too hot or too thin. Im happy with it!
I bought this as a gift for my adult daughter. She is an extremely active person who never stops moving: paddle boarding, diving, hiking and climbing mountains, exercise of any kind. When she opened her present her reaction was like a little kid. She screamed with joy, held it to her, and ran into the bathroom to put it on. It stayed on her the ent... Hands down my favorite pullover ever and I have LOTS of Patagonia pullovers. Warm, stylish, and versatile. Also, wash after wash it still looks perfect! My only hope is that the colors will find some life again, they have seemed very subdued the last couple years.
I feel cold all winter in NC. This in the only thing that keeps me warm without making me sweaty both indoors and outdoors. They've lasted years and years with frequent washes for a good 4-5 months of the year. Softness is just like when they were new. Amazing product!
Warmer than other fleece 1/4 zips. Fleecy/fuzzy on the inside and out, so it feels warmer. Fitted (ie, not baggy or sloppy looking) but not too tight, so a base layer underneath also fits. For a middle aged woman who is always cold, this keeps me warm inside and outdoors on 35 degree days without needing to break out my Canada Goose jacket intended... Read More for sub-zero temps.
I love how warm this jacket is, and the overall fit is great for layering. However, I am long and slender, and I find that this jacket sleeves are too short by more than 5 inches when I bend my elbows. If I purchased it any larger, the 1 or 2 inch gain in sleeve length would not be worth it I'll fitting everywhere else.
This is my second color of the Retool pullover. The arms are long. It looks like it would be thin as colored undershirts can be seen through, but it is plenty warm for "always cold" me I would probably fit a medium better but appreciate the extra room for layering. Am 5'11" 140# and ordered a large.
For me, this is a perfect fit. I'm 5'5 and flux between 115-125. I'm cozy in it with a light tee under. Soft and functional. Since this is the first brand new to me pullover, i want to live in it! It's silly how happy I am about it! I know I'll own it for a long long time. The quality is amazing and I'm in love with the fit, feel and color! Patagonia , you go, stepping it up on the color pallets! ️
I bought the exact/similar style a few years ago and fell in love with it. I wore it day in, day out. The pullover was super comfy and soft and made of high quality material. Except for the expected worn look because I washed it so many times, however, the shape etc. remain almost the same! So when I saw they have it in stock again, this time I loa... Read Mored up on a couple more even though it's a bit more pricier (inflation). The inside is still soft, but the exterior feels a bit more rough than previously. Also, the material seems thinner this time around. I feel the quality is not the same as before. This was a disappointment. But I'll keep it and see how it feels after multiple washes.
I have two of these and they are my absolute favorite when things start to get chilly. Super warm and comfortable! (Only bummer is they stopped making them for men and my husband loves them too!)
My second color in this wonderfully soft and cozy pullover. Love the snaps and front pockets to keep hands warm. It runs true to size, but I sized up to a large for extra room and relaxed fit. I got this fleece for my sister and she absolutely loves it! She says it is very soft and comfortable to wear. It was a bit more fitted than expected, so consider sizing up if you are on the fence between sizes.
I HAVE 25 of the retool pullover in different colors. Did like the old style where the bottom of the shirt had a soft border around the cuff and bottom. Would recommend the shirt.
Love this pullover. It is super soft, and warm, but not too warm. Good for everyday wear in colder months. I originally ordered one size up because the description mentioned slim fit. For a "slim fit" this does not grab anywhere which is why I love it. Gentle curves but not clingy. Ordered in two colors because I liked it so much.
I have several of the Snap-T pullovers and wear them throughout the colder months. They look great with jeans and are quite warm. The dark blue is a particularly useful color.
This is my favorite go-to pullover. I liked the first one I got so much I ordered another... and have my eye on navy now. I'm 5'8", 130 and find this to be roomy for layering. I have worn under my ski coat for extra warmth and it wasn't too bulky.
Redesigned with a little more room at the bottom, which is perfect for me. Very cozy and comfortable. My only complaint is that it doesn't come in more colors. Hot pink and more pastels, please!
Love this jacket and kangaroo pocket. Jacket has a slim fit, so went up a size and fits well. My only complaint is at the wrist. The sleeves need a little bit of an elastic band or stretch to maintain shape. The end of the sleeves get all stretched out after wearing.
Ive literally had this jacket for 12 years and its still in impeccable condition, so I figured Id circle back and report that this is a wise purchase. This may be the oldest thing in my wardrobe actually. Im 28 for reference. I dont wash it that often, but its not necessary to do so in my opinion.
This is my second re-tool jacket and this one is not as soft or as comfy as the old style. The cuffs and bottom cuff of the jacket is different and just fits less nice (almost too widely now). I love the jacket, but wish you hadn't made the changes to the design. It's unfortunate that I didn't realize before I took the tags off. Othe... My 12 yr. Granddaughter had this on her wishlist for Christmas. She absolutely was so surprised & delighted when she opened her package. I too was delighted!
As I expected from Patagonia, the fleece is so very nice and this pullover is well made. A great layer piece for winter sports.
I ordered pullover for my Granddaughter. Received an email saying it was delivered. I waited till next day still no package. I called your customer service and the woman was very kind and assured me I would have a new one the next day. This was December 23rd. They saved Christmas!
Both of the zip jackets I bought this year are hard to get on and off. Once on they are snug but all right. The zipper on the first jacket is sooo long. I like the fabric on both products.
I purchased this top because it was so soft, lightweight, nice looking and would give me the winter warmth I need. It washed really well. I like the deep blue color and might order another of this same style. Thank you! I am pleased!
This is very comfy, cute, and just the right amount of warm. But its the second sweater/fleece I have gotten from Patagonia with too-short sleeves. Hear me out
The place I work at has a lost and found section and this was there for a good year. I got the okay to look through a bag of used clothes and found this bad boy!! I was so excited! I love Patagonia for it's mission and how it's made to last so I love finding them thrifted. In the better sweater I am a true size small so I was worried this... Read More wouldn't fit since the one I found is a size medium, but it fits so well! It's not too oversized and I am not swimming in it. I think even if you go a size, up it shouldn't be too bad.
The Patagonia Retool fleece is the most well made, cozy and comfortable fleece! Great next to skin feel! Would love to see Patagonia make the Retool Fleece as a jacket again (only with zipper pockets this time)
Also I would really love to see Patagonia make the Retool Fleece Pullover in Marble Pink with Electric Blue or Teal accent trim !!!
This is my third Re-Tool fleece, and I love it. I started with the Large because my full zip fleece is tight in the arms, but found I was swimming in it. I exchanged for a medium, and am much happier.
This is a little bulky and I like that about it. It has a great pocket in front for hands and is long enough with a looser-type bottom to fit comfortably at the hips.
This is my favorite product from Patagonia. I received one as a gift many years ago and its still good as new. I bought this one because I liked the color. These wash beautifully and are so very warm and comfortable. I would recommend buying in every color
Love the softness and light weight warmth but if you want to wear over anything but a very light T-shirt and you want to be comfortable, definitely size up. Not sure why these are cut so slim!
This is my favorite Patagonia product and I buy one or two every season. I am 5'1, 140 lb and the small fits perfectly, even the sleeves are not too long. Really warm and comfy when there is no wind. Highly recommended.
I bought this in an XS knowing I would wear it as a fitted layer- over a thin tshirt or base layer and under a jacket if needed. I'm 5'4 and weight 123 lb and I bought a M based on the reviews, and I'm glad I did. I think S would have fit me but I wanted it to be more comfortable and be able to wear a thin long sleeve inside. Also I have wide shoulders.
Love this fleece! After buying several for my kids over the years, I bit the bullet and treated myself to this. It is perfect for walking the dog in all kinds of weather and fits under my winter coat. In the warmer weather I will wear it instead of a jacket. Great quality and well worth it!

COZY
This was my first patagonia clothing. I am typically a medium. My husband had ordered a medium and we had to exchange because the sleeves were too short. The large fits me great, I am 5'9 its soft but not too soft and very warm.
I have not had a chance to wear this yet however I own three others. These are wonderful last forever look fabulous over very lightweight yet extremely warm. My absolute Patagonia favorite pull over.
I have wanted one of these forever. I'm 5'10, 175 lbs - size 12. I have always thought patagonia ran a bit small/short - so I've been scared to spend the money. I'm so glad I did! The xl fits with some room which I love - It is so soft, the pockets are deep and amazing and it's warm. I want ten more. TY Patagonia!
I already have two of these fleeces. One of them I have washed for years and actually looks almost exactly the same as my new one. I liked them so much this Christmas I purchased one for a friend and bought 3 more for myself. They are warm, comfortable, soft, love the front pocket and the colors available are all very pretty and that is why I bough... Read Moret 3 more......beige, taupe and grey.
When it comes to women's sizing I am all over the place. I have a very disproportional chest (34i) compared to the rest of my body (5'3 140lbs), which makes top shopping of any kind a nightmare. With that being said, I am typically a medium and after reading other reviews I decided to go with my usual size. Because it is more fitted/tailo... Read Morered, as is common with women's outerwear, I ended up needing to size up the large and now it is slightly oversized, which is what I wanted, and SUPER cozy. I absolutely think it is worth the money and I love my fleece a lot, but if you're in-between sizes I would definitely say that you should size up!
This was a gift for my daughter, and a repeat of a smaller size she had in the past. She loves it. Medium is a bit roomy on her as she's very slender, but 5'4 and still growing.
Purchased for daughter for Christmas. She is a sophomore in college and asked for this specifically. She loves it, the color, the fit, says its perfect. It is definitely a fitted top, and looks good. Its a warm top, good for layering on top of leggings or jeans. This is a good staple.
I bought a medium, as most reviews say it runs sort of small. I should have gotten a small. I have a short/medium length torso, so it was too long along with baggy. On the bright side, just a thin long sleeve underneath will provide enough heat for 20-30 degrees.
Bought this for my daughter and bought xxl because thats what was left in the color she wanted. It fits her perfectly and she wears 8/10. These jackets run small but are nice and seem warm.
Have worn it this fall in 30 to 40° weather while hiking. Comfortable and if you are going to layer a lot underneath may want a size up. I wore a long sleeve wool t-shirt underneath.
If you loved the old version(s) Don't Buy This One. The quality and cut are different. I have 6 of these that I live in - hiking, working from home, even sleeping. They were the best, bought 2 more, but now:
-- sleeves run long -- cuffs are loose -- material is thinner -- neck/collar is stiff. Not the awesome cozy quality of Patagonia, sadly.
We are so sorry to hear that the revisions on this are no longer working for you and we are thankful for that feedback. Please feel free to [send](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) the new ones back if you decide you don't want to hang onto them.

Second time buying same pullover
Bought a size M a few years ago and it was always a bit small for me. After 2 little kids I ended up getting a size L. Fits much more comfortable
I am 81 years old and being warm on cold days can be a challenge when Im not outside being active. The re tool keeps me very comfortable in my house of 65 degrees.
My daughter loves her new fleece! It keeps her warm during her school day and transitions right to the outdoors. It is a not boxy but not too tight either. Beautiful blue color!!
I absolutely love my re-tool. I have a couple of them now and I wear them all the time. Im 54 and 140lbs and usually wear a size small or medium. I got a large because I wanted it to be loose. I would totally recommend this to anyone.
In the previous design of this I always had to buy a large because the arms were so short- with the new design a medium-my normal sweatshirt size- would be perfect! This new design is a lot less boxy as well!
Just for reference- Im 52 - 26 waist, 35 hips, 140#- normally wear a small in tee shirt and medium sweatshirt.
As a first-time Patagonia buyer, I did not know what to expect from the sizing and fabric. I am small in all shirts/sweatshirts and assumed I would be the same for this. I am also 5'3 and 115 lbs. I found it hard to get over my head and was a bit disappointed when realizing the little chest pocket does not actually open. The pocket near the be... It is also the perfect arm length and torso length. I ordered on a Friday and received on a Wednesday and it has kept me warm throughout the mid-40-degree weather.
I returned a Synchilla snap T pullover and chose this instead and am happy with the switch. The snap T felt bulky even in an extra S and was not as soft and cozy as this one. I love my pullover! Soft, warm and the color is beautiful. Only drawback is sizing. I usually wear a medium and had to size up to an XL and I still can't wear it with leggings because of how short it is. I would definitely recommend, just size up!
Love this fleece. Its my second retool snap t pullover because I loved the first one so much! Love that they changed the hip seam so it lies flat, way more flattering fit now compared to the old style. My cat loves snuggling in it too!
I love this product, but it is longer and slimmer than years past. I like the old style better any chance you could have 2 different fits? Slim and Casual.

Really miss the old version of this pullover!
I do not like this new version of the re-tool pullover. First, it's longer and more slim fitting than the original, and the cuffs have no gathering or elastic. Sure wish you would bring back the original, Patagonia!!! This new version is just not up to snuff!!

Perfect for fall in Alaska!
I recently ordered one of these pullovers and they are fantastic! I frequently wear it while walking my dogs and it keeps me nice and warm on chilly Alaska evenings!
Got this for my wife she said it was snug but cozy. Very soft and warm. She loves that she can wear when relaxing casual or a little more dressy. Looks fantastic
I have three of these! Theyre that great. Recently, Patagonia redid their sizing as Ive always been a medium, but this time had to reorder a small, which is how the medium used to fit, but they are offering free exchanges. Same quality as expected. Great layering piece. I live in them!
I really like this sweatshirt, it's warm and soft but it's a little bigger than I had expected. Love this fleece. So cozy for Fall nights on the ocean and early morning hikes. Im usually a small in Patagonia but would recommend sizing up in this if you want room to layer.
I have a few of these pullovers and love them. Tried a Medium this time because large sizing is 10-12. I am normally a 6. The medium is way too snug. Just uncomfortable. Back to the Large.
I bought this for my daughter in law. It runs small but otherwise looks great! I bought this a couple of sizes larger than she normally wears and the larger size looks great.
I bought this pullover on a whim after purchasing other Patagonia products and it did not disappoint! The colors are true to the pictures and the fit is perfect for me. I am able to wear a T- Shirt or even long sleeve shirt under it easily. Im excited for cooler weather to be able to wear this even more!
I love this fleece, itll be a staple this winter. It fits great (doesnt cling anywhere like some fleece do) and is long enough. The collar kind of sticks up, but I think with wear it will lay down.
Great to wear during the cold summer nights and perfect for any winter skiing or snowboarding. The quality is worth the money and the lifetime of the product is outstanding.
I ordered the grey and coral colored fleece and I am in love! It manages to feel extremely soft and warm while not being bulky. I'm so excited to wear this around the campfire or on chilly morning/evening walks as fall gets close.

If I preferred a slim/more form-fitting fleece I feel like I could have still ordered a small but I like a little room in my sweaters unless they are a base layer.
Absolutely love this fleece & it washes/dries so well unlike some other fleeces. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because like many Patagonia products, the sleeves run short which can be unideal in the cold weather months.

Please bring back the full zip!
I have this fleece in the full zip version and love it! It is really warm and comfortable. I'm sad to see that you haven't brought the full zip version back this season. While I like a pullover, I like to wear this to work in the fall/spring and pulling something over my head isn't ideal. I hope you consider bringing it back again!
I love the Re-Tool fleece pullovers, and purchase a new one every year or so. I wear them all the time for work, hiking, snow shoeing, etc. My only complaint about the purchase is that the color is not true to the color shown. I bought the Elwood green that looks more sage on the website, but its more of a dark sea foam.
I love this fleece. Its super comfy and soft and I have pretty much lived in it since it arrived. I do wish it were a little bit more wind resistant, but otherwise, Im really pleased with this purchase!
This sweater seemed like it was half as thick as my other re-tool pullover. I wanted something earlier, so I sent it back. The color was pretty, though!
I bought this jacket in the feather grey. The cut of this fleece is fitted. I golfed 9 holes in a misty rain and this fleece kept me warm and dry. Its not constricting and allows me to move comfortably. This fleece has replaced almost every sweater and spring jacket that I own.
I love these Re-tool Fleece Pullovers! This is about the fifth one I've bought! These are the perfect amount of warmth and comfort! I love the hand warmer kangaroo pouch too! So many beautiful colors to choose from! You can't go wrong with these!
My favorite Patagonia Ive had!!! I ordered a Large since the last one I owned was a little snug and a Medium. So much more comfortable!! Recommend sizing up!!
I'm also a tall lady (5'9") so buying online is always uncertain. I was a small in their jacks so I thought a small would fit as nicely. It's a little snug, which is fine. But I am sort of curious if the medium would have fit better.
Hi Rachel, please feel free to make an exchange if you need to size up. You're welcome to begin your return here, https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html.
