This fits exactly as I wanted, with room for layers. I am 5.1 and 108 lbs and can wear a vest or big sweater under it which is perfect for being in snow country. I wish the side pockets had zippers instead of a snap. The inside pocket does have a zipper but it is not as deep as my previous Patagonia parka, which also had deeper, zippered side pocke... This one does have snaps in addition to the heavy zipper, which my old one does not have, so thats nice!

I really like this coat!
I really like this coat! Its so soft and pleasant to touch! I am 5 ft 7 inches, 130 lb and I bought size S. It fits well on me and is a little spacious so I could wear a sweater or hoodie underneath.
This works so well to keep me warm on the sub-zero days. It very light and easy to carry indoors. I was concerned it would be too long on me but the length is perfect for keeping the cold out. Pockets are great for hands, phones, glasses, keys... I love not having to carry a purse! Great for travel.
I purchased the silent down shorter jacket and while the fit was not right on me, I really liked the fabric. I saw the long version and I'm in love. It's so soft, great quality and well designed. Read Morey snow boots so I'm very warm when it's really cold out. I walk the dog daily and having a long warm coat as an option is key - I also love the old school look. Being able to zip, snap and have it opened or closed is great as we're walking. A medium fit but was snug in the body. The arms were way too short though. The large fits really well with a little extra room. It's actually very flattering for a long down coat - sliming - even in the large size. Worth every penny.
This coat is beautiful, feels so luxurious to wear. Warm, light. I ordered large because I have sometimes found the fit between the shoulder and sleeve to be tight on Patagonia tops and I don't like that tightness. So my coat is a little big but feels great and will be great for layering.
I wanted a dog walking coat for the really frigid days. This coat is it! It is so warm I don't need to layer under it the way I have had to under other coats. Now I almost want it to be 20 degrees in the morning so I have an excuse to wear it.
I bought the silent down long parka to keep me warm on walks. The 2 way zipper is helpful for getting in and out of wearing it in the car. Love the snaps down the front ,also. Very soft, very warm and the brown color is beautiful. Medium was a good fit. I wear size 8/10.
This coat is lightweight, but super warm! I wear it for walking around nyc on extra cold and windy days. It helps get me to my early morning workouts. I'm 5'3" 125lbs and debated between the XS and S but preferred the XS for a tighter fit.
I love this coat! I wanted a coat for these cold MN winters that was longer and would help keep my legs warm. This is perfect and has the bottom zipper which is a necessity w coat this long. And its light weight. Its spendy and worth the investment.
I have been wearing this coat in the negative temperatures that come with Minnesota winter and it's everything I wanted. The length leaves very little of my legs exposed when I wear boots and the hood keeps my head warm. It's insulating, soft and warm without being heavy. Absolutely worth it.
This is my second Silent Down Coat. I loved my last one, and would wear it most of the winter, as it was light, warm and very comfortable, as well as flattering. I had hoped to get a navy or dark brown onethis time but those colors were not available. Although I don't love the colors this season, which is geared more for blondes, than brunette... minus 5 here in wisconsin, winds blowing so hard its hard to think straight outside. I have tried other comparable brands and have not been satisfied. When I discovered this coat in my local Patagonia store I was instantly sold. Its super warm (I live in Maine, warmth is a must), lightweight and doesnt look like Im wearing a sleeping bag. I am thrilled with my purchase.
This coat is very comfortable and lightweight and pretty attractive for a puffer. I love that it is reused down and the company ethical standards. But I dont find it that warm which is disappointing. At 25-30 degrees I was marginally warm. For the price and description, expected it to be warm down to zero. I will probably return it.

Best Jacket Ever!
Hands down the best jacket for the cold weather states. Paired mine with some tall Bog Boots and together they keep all the cold off of me! 10/10 would recommend this jacket.
Great coat for cold winters. I do not have to wear many layers underneath to keep warm even in freezing temperatures. I am good with this coat and a t-shirt underneath even in 20 degree weather. It is very windproof, which is good for Chicago winters. It covers my knees for extra warmth, too
Love it so far, we have not had temps in the 30's yet so not sure if it will be warm enough but so far has been exactly what I was looking for, the length, comfort, quality

To get the top to right correctly I am a size large. The belly around this coat is BIG and bell shaped. I would have expected a more feminine shape or a draw string. But, I'm going to keep it - so so comfortable!!
Buying this coat was a splurge, and I'm happy to say I have zero regrets. This coat is so unbelievably soft and toasty warm. I'm a teacher in upstate NY, were we take winter seriously. The extra length of this coat is perfect for recess duty, running errand in big wind chill, and outdoor winter parties.

Like wearing a comforter
The best softest lightest fluffier jacket I have ever owned. Great purchase! Nice big pockets and a perfect fitting hood. Maybe a tad long but a keeper!
I was worried I ordered a size too small due to other reviews, but this jacket is true to size and you can definitely layer underneath. This is the best item I've ever bought from Patagonia. It's so soft, I feel like I'm wearing a down blanket or sleeping bag.
While I LOVE this coat, there are a few random things about it I'd like to change. I wish that the exterior hand pockets zipped closed rather than a single button snap closure. That's not very secure so when I'm sitting in the stands watching hockey I fear losing my keys into the abyss below. But there is an interior zip chest pocket... I am 5"8" 135lb and I find that I needed the medium only because of the sleeve length. The sleeves are too short in the small, like so short. So the coat isn't as fitted if you size up to accommodate the sleeve length issue. Medium the sleeve length is great, and I suppose now I just have more room for a big layer underneath.
Otherwise I am so in love with this coat. It is warm, and the entire reason I wanted it is due to the length- it hits me mid calf. It has been -22 ° in Montana and I walk around comfortably in this coat, it's awesome.
I always love the way Patagonia improve and strive to be ecologically correct with their products. Not only so warm and light weight, this product in my mind, one of the best ! I'm a little petite and was afraid that the length would be too long all around. To my very happy surprise it was perfect. The arms were a great length and I love where it hits at my shins.

Having pockets that zip is extremely important. Every large winter coat I've had- even from Patagonia has zippered pockets. But this is a single, extremely cheap looking single snap in the middle. I am contemplating returning it but I really need it. Very frustrating.

This coat is very warm, material is soft. The zipper is very sturdy, I feel like zippers can be a weak point in a jacket. I really love that much of the coat comes from recycled materials. Love the length! It hits me at about mid-shin. There's enough room that I can wear a thicker layer underneath. It's SO WARM! The inner cuff is nice, but wouldn't mind an extended cuff with a thumb hole. Pockets are deep too, nothing is falling out of those.
I traded in my glacier parka for this jacket and am very glad -- living in NYC, the length and warmth have been excellent to get me through the worst of winter. I wish Patagonia would make more jackets with an extended hood that better protects your face during high wind/snow/rain. This hood doesn't do that, but it is fitted around your head a... This is the warmest coat, by far, that I have ever owned. I am 5'2 and its right at midshin. Not super body contouring but I love it. It is my favorite winter coat. It is super soft, creamy, fluffly, and withstands Chicago winters.
I was a but skeptical about ordering the jacket without trying it on but man oh man. So cozy! Feels like a cute sleeping bag I ordered medium I'm 5.5 +130. Now my jacket did have a tiny hole so I mailed it back but I received a new one less than a week later no questions asked. For reference I live in Seattle, WA.
We purchased this for my wife after moving to the Midwest and it has been perfect. She went with the medium normal fit so it could be layered for extra warmth in the single to negative degrees.

This jacket has a looser fit. It fits just slightly bigger on me than the Dusty Mesa Parka, which I have in the same size. I think the fit is very flattering though, and it leaves room for a sweater underneath the jacket. For a calf length parka, it is one of the cutest options I have seen on.
