These pants are incredible for snowshoeing. I went up a size to large so I could layer easier than with the medium. Love all the zippers with pockets and for breathability. I love the elastic waist because I have another pair of Patagonia snowpants that button and when I gain a few lbs they become annoying. YAY for elastic waist. NOW the only drawb... Read Moreack is if you are short these will be long. Please please Patagonia make more of the snow pants with a "short" version. Thank you!

Almost the perfect touring softshell...
The pants held up well on a sloppy, somewhat wet PNW ski tour, performing well & keeping me dry in snow to sleet. Pockets are appropriate size and location and the fabric provides ease of movement.
Two improvements would make these pants better: Make the elastic waistband wider, like a yoga waistband. The elastic tends to roll over itself, whi... Read Morech is annoying.
In the leg pocket, please add a clip for avalanche beacon! C'mon, these are touring pants!
We appreciate your feedback, Kathleen! Beacons are intended to be worn at the chest harness, so our pant pockets will never be designated for this purpose. Very comfortable for skate skiing and back country skiing!
The pants are very comfortable. A little chilly on chairlifts in the Tetons. Pants work really well for skate skiing and in the back country.
I wanted to love these pants, but they were a miss for me.
Pros:
- Light and stretchy fabric
- Super comfortable waist
- A couple of color options that aren't boring
Cons:
- Huge baggy cut in the rear/upper legs (and this is from someone with a soccer booty)
- Inner gaiter didn't fit over my beefier ski boots when in tour mode
- Only o... Read Morene side pocket instead of two
When softshell pants have vents, I use them, but I think the placement on these pants contributes to the poor fit. Why can't they be on the inner thighs where they'd more effectively dump heat as well? My hope is that Patagonia reworks these into a winner for next season!
Hey Hannah, we appreciate the feedback and are sorry that these aren't working out for you. If you're looking for something to replace them you might find that the [Women's SnowDrifter Bibs](https://www.patagonia.com/product/womens-snowdrifter-ski-snowboard-bibs/30080.html?dwvar_30080_color=SMDB&cgid=root) make a good alternative.

Love these pants. The elastic
Love these pants. The elastic waist isn't the prettiest, but really makes a difference in holding them up and requires no belt. Very breathable, good stretch and block the wind. Great for cross country skiing and even alpine on warmer days.
Lighter weight, nice stretchy material, definitely more breathable, and less windproof than a hard shell but that was the idea. I have a small waist and muscular thighs and normally wear an S in Patagonia ski pants but this year the slim fit trend limited my choices in hard shell pants for women. However, these pants seemed to work primarily due to... Read More the stretch of the fabric. I was also still able to wear a layer underneath which I was concerned about.
A great weight for a soft shell ski pant. toured up hill in sleeting snow and stayed dry. A little funny bunchy around the waist/crouch but the weight is so great I dont mind.
