Alaska Needs You
More mining and drilling in America's Arctic will push us away from a livable Earth and further into climate chaos. Right now, you can help protect our climate, local communities and biodiversity by asking our government to stop extraction in three areas under threat in Alaska.

I'm 6'2" and 175 lbs with a 32" waist and the mediums were just too big around the waist. I had to have it on the farthest tightness which causes the pants to crinkle in an odd way and irritate my sides. The pants are heavy so you definitely want them snugged around the waist. Bummed because I typically only love Patagonia gear ... Read Morebut I think they need to re-evaluate the sizing for their pants.
Hello Wesley, thank you for your review of the Men's Storm Shift Pants. We are sorry to hear you are disappointed in the fit. We continuously work on improving our products, and your feedback will undoubtedly help us in that process. In the meantime, please feel free to take advantage of a warranty return, as this would fall under our [Ironclad Guarantee](https://help.patagonia.com/s/article/Ironclad-Guarantee).
Men's Stormshift Pants
The pants fit well, true to size with adequate waist adjustment. Length is right. I am concerned that the pants will run hot with the liner, but especially with the relatively short thigh zipper vent. A longer zipper vent that extends from hip to knee would be better for truly venting, making the pants suitable for alpine, telemarking, skinning and... Read More late fall, winter and spring time hiking. A full side-zip pant (an older version of these pants) without a liner makes for a more versatile garment, allowing one to alter base layer weight to match the temperature range.
We appreciate your feedback, William! Please note that the mesh liner is not for any warmth, but rather to wick moisture and prevent feeling the slick backing of the Gore-Tex fabric against your skin. We encourage you to take a look at the other [Men's Ski & Snowboard Pants](https://www.patagonia.com/shop/sport/skiing-snowboarding/mens/snow-pants) like the Mountain Utility Pants or the Stormstride Pants, which have longer vents on the legs. Medium is too tight, Large too loose
6', 180lbs, 34" waist. I originally bought these in a Large and had to return them because they were too loose in the waist and too baggy for my liking. Even with the velcro tabs on the waist adjusted all the way tight you could easily pants me, they would slide right down with a gentle tug. So I returned them and bought a Medium. These ... Read Moreare too snug in the leg and the waist. With the velcro tabs all the way loose, essentially disconnected, the pants are too tight. Great quality pant with solid features, just wish they fit me. I will have to return and try another model ski pant.
We're sorry neither of these pairs fit you well! Thank you for your feedback on the fit of these pants, Jake. Of course, you can absolutely [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) them for a refund. I have a pair of Patagonia pants I have used for the past 6 years. I probably have over 300 days of hard skiing on them. They have held up great but are finally getting worn out so I decided to replace them with the Storm Shift. I have a 31" waist and my current Patagonia pant is a medium so that's what I initially ordered. I pulled the s... Read Moreide tabs in as far as I could but the pants were still too loose and wouldn't stay up. So I returned the medium and got a small. The small was way too tight even with the side tabs all the way out. There's a serious sizing problem if I don't fit in one of these sizes. If your waist is 28"-30" the small will work for you. Don't get the medium unless your waist is 33"-35". If you're in the 31"-32" zone, find another pant.
This an excellent ski shell
This an excellent ski shell pant. I have skied in a variety of conditions from extremely wet to frigid. These pants will keep you dry and warm with the proper layering. In mild temperatures, 20 degrees and up, a base layer is not necessary as the pants are warm enough. Plus, there is venting if you get too warm. In frigid conditions, 20 to below 0,... Read More the addition of an appropriate base layer makes the pant more than comfortable. I like the regular fit because the additional room allows me to go to a heavier base layer depending on conditions. Great pants and well built.
Feels like home
I strayed from the fold for a bit tried some other brands caught the bib fanboy wave and none of it works like this. Bomber Patagonia pants fit amazing and you can dial them in. Tough as nails but still light enough for tours. Stretchy fabric would be a nice touch but with the fit not necessary.
Dear Patagonia, I love the the design. Ive been using your clothing equipment for many many years. From surfing, fly fishing, skiing etc. Ive tried to find the right ski pants for weeks now. Awesome pant but curiously too big
In contrast to a couple other reviewers who said they needed to size up, I am returning my size Large because these pants are too loose and baggy on my 34" waist. (6'0", 178lbs) I like the material and features, just wish they were a bit snugger.

Runs small in waist and backside... I am a 34" inch waist so I bought a medium. The sizing guide is not super helpful. It states a medium is 33, and large is 36. What about the sizes in between those? Having a range listed would be better.
Hi Mac, thank you for sharing your experience with these Ski/Snowboard Pants. We're sorry the Medium didn't work for you, and glad to see you got set up with a size that will work better for you. We will pass along your feedback about the sizing information.
Just what I wanted
Perfect for resort skiing. Goretex keeps out the wind and the wet. Elastic/velcro waist adjustment plus belt loops make the waist fit easy. My phone needs to stay warm and dry, which it does in the handwarmer pockets. The Regular length and snow cuffs provide excellent compatibility with alpine ski boots.
New ski pants for '23
Haven't spent any days on the hill yet. Had to go up a size from usual in these pants. Usually wear a L in Patagonia pants but had to go to XL to get them to fit. The L fit well everywhere except the waist. The Xl fits the waist but is a bit baggy on me through everything else. They seem like great pants and they're Gore-Tex so I know how...
