Not sure what all the complaints are about the tags. They easily tear off with just a little tug. 🤷♀️
I have several pairs of these briefs, and wear them for everything from outdoor activities to nights out on the town. But the stitching on the inside of the waistband has come loose on some of them. They are still functional and you can't see this from the outside. But I wonder how long they will last.
I bought my older versions about 4-5 years ago. Wear like iron. Perfect. Newer style is smaller, less comfortable, itchy, and not the same. Also, why can't we have good old beige? Why do companies always change tried and true styles?

Tiny bit too large
I bought these for long days of work outside. My sizing is all over the place with Patagonia. I wear medium swim bottoms, small bra tops, medium tank tops, large better sweater, medium short sleeve shirts.... and virtually no jackets fit me (I must be right in the middle of a medium and a large for jackets). Several years ago, I ordered these and LOVED them. I still have and wear those pairs all the time. I recently bought several new pairs, to replace all other brands of underwear. Perfect Fit
These are the only underwear I have been buying for 20 years! Perfect in fit, design, texture and weight of fabric. I do have one question though, why the giant tag now? Expensive
Might be my last one. I’ve been buying these for over 2 decades. I love the quality and fit however the price is ridiculous.
These have been my go-to undies and historically, I've loved them. But this order came with SUPER annoying tags in the back waistband seam and when I cut them out, they leave little bits of white "tag" that pokes me. It's incredibly annoying.
These went from all-time favorite to the donation bin. The new fabric is less stretchy and slippier, making them slide. The tag is a monstrosity. The fit is off. Please bring back the old version!

bring back the old fit and styling
I SO love the old style and fabric with the 2 inch smooth waistband. I have had mine for years.... and I would really like to buy a number of pairs of the same style and fit, but the new fit and fabric and style just doesn't cut it and nobody out there makes anything close to the old style. PLEASE bring them back!And NO tags please!
These underwear are ok, but what is with all the tags Patagonia put on them? 3 or 4 long tags that of course can't be cut off all the way so there's a scratchy little piece left to irritate. I also would like to see a cotton liner in the crotch.

Theres a Tag
Love the underwear - ordered two pairs. But give three starts because there is a tag and it scratches- and cutting it out does not stop the scratch. Im now wearing the underwear inside out. A great product improvement would be to not sew in underwear tags.

Disappointed!!
I have been buying Patagonia underwear forEVER!!! At least 15 years. they are comfy and cute, fun colors and designs, practical for recreating, and they last a long time! Although the colors and designs have become less interesting over the years, Patagonia is still my go to place to buy my undies. But WHAT is UP with the tags? They are just utter ... Not as advertised
These are not briefs, they are bikini style underwear - very skimpy for what I wanted. I feel that calling these briefs is misleading, and I resent paying the $5.00 return fee for false advertising.

Comfortable
These are comfortable but not something I would buy again. The waistband hits low in the front. I would like them about an inch higher for comfort and fit. Also, with all the tags you have to cut them out and then they are super scratchy unless you can get it cut super close to material without cutting the product, which I am working on.

Great fit
These are my go to underwear. They fit just right, keep me covered but not too much. They stay in place whatever I'm doing.
These are so comfortable and feel good on my skin. The only negative thing is the large and long labels sewed in seams were very hard to remove. I ended up ripping out the stitching a little damaging the pants. Very upsetting! Patagonia please stop sewing the huge labels. No one wants them sewed inside the underwear.

Love the fit, comfy and cute
I love Patagonia underwear including these. They are very comfortable and cute, and great for working out in. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is the tags in the back. They are long (3 very long tags and one short one) and irritate my skin. I have to flip the tags out of the top of the undies when wearing but it gets annoying. Please... I wear these every day for work with my grama pants. They are comfortable and flexible. I have bought this brief for years, and though they added the annoying tag, it's easy to get out with a seam ripper.

I love everything but the label
These are great, except for the label which requires surgical precision to remove without damaging the clothing. Would be nice if the label was printed instead of sewn on and made of scratchy plastic material. Even if it was sewn to the outside?

Originally bought a couple pair of these for a hiking trip and fell in love with them, they are now my go to undies. I prefer the active briefs for day to day wear and hiking.
They fit true to size, stay in place in heavy activity and wash/dry easily at home or on the road.

Perfect
Worn them for many years. Full coverage and comfortable to wear. Perfect!Just bought a new round of them and the quality is the same! My one issue is the tags sew on them that I had to remove to wear-hard to do without damaging them. They have a string tag also so not sure why they need two tags..

Best every day panties!
The fit is amazing and the fabric is stretchy and thin - perfect for wearing with work-out attire or for work under dress trousers - they aren't advertised as such, but they fit so well that they do not show through my work bottoms - basically seamless. Loved these so much that I ordered two more pair.
While the cut and fit of this is almost perfect, I don't understand why a pair of underwear has a 4 tags attached to it, 3 of which are 4 inches long! When I cut off the tags close to the seam, it left a piece still attached that rubbed on my lower back. When I used a seam ripper to remove the tags, it opened the back seam as well because the ... Just when I thought Patagonia broke the barrier in seamless undies, they just got better- better fit, just a tad higher cut for hip and leg, no ride up in undisclosed areas.. and if you have the princess and the pea syndrome, no seams are now your best friend and this garment will never let you down or wear out- the best

Good fit
This brand and style are theonly ones that fit. Fit is great, I do not get the water blisters that I do with other brands. As I am a disabled person, 62 years old, any skin issuescan get to be bad.
I was hoping the design had been retooled to be more like the active briefs available a few years ago. The previous design was fabulous. The current design tends to roll down in the front and ride up in the back. I ordered up a size hoping that would help but was still a poor fit.

I ordered these in search for the perfect panties. I ordered a pair a few years ago from Patagonia and theyre my all time fav! These fit perfect and are oh so comfy!!! What is up with the ridiculous tags?
I bought several pairs of these underwear 4 years ago. Even then, people were complaining about the tags. WTF, Patagonia!! Women have been complaining about the tags in these underwear for, literally, years, and you respond by making them bigger and more difficult to remove?!! Why are you not listening to your female customers?? If you choose to respond to my review, please do not tell me you are passing along my complaint. Just fix the problem. Instead, please respond with a step-by-step guide for completely removing your ridiculous tags without destroying the underwear in the process.
I was so excited to get my Patagonia underwear a few months ago. I was so disappointed when they were constantly slipping. I really hope they decide to bring back the old ones, because they were amazing!! I finally have to replace my two 10 year old pairs and hope I can find something just as good!
Im trying these again but like the reviews Ive been reading for at least three years, these dont rise to the fit,feel,quality of the old ones. Stays in place.
Wore these under tights for a 3 hour run. Stayed in place and no underwear lines. Washed and still fit the same.
made me chuckle to see what people complain about, i.e. tags (!) just cut them off if they bother! these panties are adorable and fit (me) perfectly ! i know and appreciate how Patagonia products are fair trade produced.
Briefs that cover all the bases namely quick dry, good fit, do not ride up and most importantly cover my bottom unlike bikinis and hipsters. My only complaint is that they are very often out of stock or worse, are substituted with recycled but flimsy material briefs
Nothing like the superb design, fit and comfort of the older briefs. These will not stay down on one's cheeks -- they ride up constantly, just even on a simple hike. The old ones were great bought for 15y , but after 2 sets, I've given up. Bad design.

Bring back old fit from 2017!!!!!
Old ones much better. My favorite underwear for years prior to changing fit. New design rides up and "wedgie". Several years ago same comments but as yet no change back. I'd buy 10 pairs if did. Keep trying and returning. And loved the old ones didn't have the tags that take A LONG TIME to carefully remove.....

These used to be GOT. The new fabric is fine. The old version was a brief cut. This is more like a bikini. I need a brief cut to stay up on my waist. I read the comments on these that all said it ran too small----so instead of M I ordered L and they are same quality and fabric I have been wearing for many years from Patagonia-----they keep their shape after years of laundering and I love them----you should resize them since the new L's are same size as my old Mediums.
These used to be my favorite underwear before they changed the fit. The quality has also gone way downhill. The threading around the waistband came undone on 4 or 5 of them. They are junk and fit like crap. Why would you fix something that wasnt broken?? You ruined them.

Poor fit
Please return to the old style as many others have requested. I have worn Patagonia underwear exclusively for years. Best underwear ever until the redesign. Good and Bad

Yes - I am slowly accumulating my stash of this underwear - it fits amazingly well, stays where it is supposed to stay and is "as advertised" perfect Active Briefs. Invest - you won't regret it.
These are just not cutting it. You had it right and now you dont. I too have pairs from 2014-2016, amazing fit, material, comfort and longevity. The new pairs material is stiffer and there is a bit less material can you please go back in time? Or will have to keep rehabbing my oldies!

I own about 15 pairs of the old version, which means they are all a few years old. I really could use some replacements by now, but the new version is so little and uncomfortable, I will not wear them.

Wouldn't call it a brief style!
So, just like everyone else, I purchased these after my older model version wore out. I read these reviews but told myself to not be swayed and give them a good try. First impression was not a good one as they did fit more like a bikini or hipster style. They are low cut compared to any other brief style I have tried. The material is much lighter w... Read Moreeight and thinner than previous models as well. They did cover my larger butt well, which is surprising because they look so small and insubstantial. But, as I promised I said I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and to my surprise they didn't bug me at all. Like, I literally forgot about them all day. They stayed in place without pulling out wedgies or the waistband rolling down. Keep in mind this is under fitted leggings (pack out tights) so they get help staying in place with tight clothes. I guess the real test will be when I wear a skirt or loose pants. I have a 31" waist and 42" hip so I fall between a medium and large. If I end up buying more I will probably buy a large not because the mediums don't fit but just to see if they might come up a little higher in the front.
This new version is horrible compared to the old ones. There is much less material...the fit is way off. Also, the top band consistently unravels after a couple of wears. I have some from many years ago that are still not unraveled. Sending them back is not a solution. Please just make them good quality and fit!!
I agree with everyone else, I have many pairs of the old style, just perfect. My newer pairs are thinner, smaller, and unraveling. Im joining the chorus because I need new undies! If you bring back the old version, Ill buy 10!

I fell in love with Patagonia underwear awhile back because of the fit. For some reason, the last batch of Patagonia underwear didn't fit as well. The hipsters were cut lower, further below my belly button. They are okay and not as good as the former design. I hope you'll bring the old design back.

Cute and comfy!
These briefs are cute and comfy! I wear them for everything from work to working out to long days in the mountains.
My Patagonia underwear, which used to last forever, now are all fraying, in the elastic around the legs, and also in the crotch. These are just not durable undergarments anymore. This may be because Patagonia switched to using recycled materials, which don't last as long.

Great underwear ruined by tag
These underwear are lightweight, fit well and moisture wicking. They had potential to be my new favorites! Unfortunately there are long tags inside. I cut at the dotted line to lose most of them and now it is scratchy and annoying. This greatly adversely affects their comfort.
I've worn - and loved - Patagonia underwear for decades. It was difficult to order this time - there isn't a way to know how much of the buttocks will be covered or where it will hit on the hips: the Hipster and the Active Brief look essentially the same. I've returned them. I am so disappointed and echo the many other reviewers who have asked for the previous underwear styles to be made available again. I Also Want Them to Bring Back the original Fit and Style
I have been wearing the active briefs for 10 years now and wish they would bring back the wonderful fit and style. The newer runs fall apart sooner and are less comfortable. Why destroy the design and make of a winner?

I am not sure what prompted the change, but please for the love of hiking bring the old underwear back.

These Active Briefs are NOT briefs. I have purchased patagonia briefs in the past--in fact, I LOVE Patagonia underwear better than any other. They are comfy, wicking, and look great under all of my clothes. However, when I think of briefs, I think they should be higher--like maybe an inch or 2 under the navel. Not as good as the briefs of about 12 years ago, which are hanging in there, but aging. But a somewhat ok substitute, but why did they alter a great product? This new one, more lines. And I will bet its not going to last12 years.

One more vote for Bring Back 2015. I am despondent at the loss of the old Active Brief. Like others, I am wearing old pairs until the bands roll up and even considering taking them to a seamstress, which is weird. Please bring back the old style!!!! Ive been buying something *similar* in cut from the Gap, but theyre just not the same!

Count me in as one of the people waiting for the return of the old style and ready to replace a dozen pairs of increasingly embarrassing-looking 2015 underwear that I cant give up!
I am an active 68 year old (hike, climb, canoe, camp etc.) I loved the old style active brief from Patagonia style # 32404. Great style, comfort and wearability. I received a pair of the active hipsters a few years back, which I did not like as they fit lower down on my abdomen, and I simply didn't wear them.
I went to purchase active briefs ... Read Morethis spring and was told 32404 were no longer available and had been replaced with style number 32396 but they were out of stock. I put my name in to purchase them when they came in stock. Meanwhile I was shopping in REI last month and found one pair of the active brief 32396, in my size. Excited, I bought them, only to find when I got them home they were the exact same size as the active hipster. They sit lower on the abdomen and measure a smaller distance from waist band to crotch. Why they say this one is a brief when it appears to be the exact same size as the hipster I don't know. I gave the hipster pair and my newly purchased "briefs" to my daughter. I will not be buying this product 32396 even though it is now back in stock. Please, please bring back the old active brief for women like me. I would happily buy ten pairs or more of the old style right this minute.
My (now 22yr old ) daughter and I have worn the Patagonia Active Briefs since 2015. Each year 2015-2019 we pilgrimage walked 1000+ km with only 3 briefs each. We wear them daily at home. We purchase 10 new briefs a year.
I agree with all the reviewers. Printed Tags ONLY is preferred. I Always remove the Sewn in paper tags.

We have sadly been wearing the black. But would prefer the previous fabrics in lovely thin striped colours: Green, Purple, White, Rose. I prefer the strong colours to the pastels. Less see-thru for traveling and seems to last longer.
The lite Blue thin stripe fabric always seems to wear out rapidly compared to the deeper, stronger colours. Please! Please! I budget a lot of $$ each year to renew our Patagonia Active Briefs drawer. Please just keep making the comfy, non-wedgie, wide waistband, generous butt coverage design in quick dry, light weight, colourful but sturdy fabrics. Thankyou!

Tag scratches
I think of Patagonia often as the tag scratches me! I cut most of the tag off up close to seam. If I try to get the rest of it out I would have to cut stitching and then there would be a hole.
I like these but, GET RID OF THE TAGS!!!

The Active Briefs are perfect for when I want extra coverage and stay-power for when I am doing something super active or just want the extra support. The Active Briefs do show a line under tighter pants, but they are great under my Baggies. I have been wearing them now for several months, and they are held up really well. I wash mine on cool and air dry them, and they are still just like new. Highly recommend both!
