I've been wearing Patagonia underwear for 20 years. The previous version of these lasted me 10 years. It was insane how well they held up. These ones are lucky if they last more than 6 months without getting a hole in them.
We're so sorry to hear these briefs haven't been as durable as they should be! Thank you for this feedback, Danny; we are reaching out to you privately to help.

comfortable fit but material does not hold up
The material as started develop small holes in less than fours months.
I have worn these during the colder months of the year for a few years now. They are super comfortable, generally well built, and help a bit with keeping the cold out. Good and Snug
Underpants are all over the place in terms of snugness and comfort. Most just don't hold your "privates" in place very well, if at all. These are perfect. I'll be buying several more. They're great!
I've tried MANY brands over the years, from those found in big box stores, to specialty, online offerings. These are the best I have found. No rolling of the waistband, and perfect fit. Soft and comfortable.
I waited a bit to see how these would last with actual use. First time wearing they fit well and thought they might last but maybe 2 months later after casual use and one or two HIIT training workouts they already have a rip in one of the leg areas. Waste of money, dont bother they wont last if you are serious about training.

Nice fit / does not last long
Nice fit I have had a number of pairs of these. They always develop holes in the butt after 6 months.
Hi Joel! Thank you for writing us a review. We're really sorry to hear the briefs develop holes after six months of wear. Please note, your satisfaction is always guaranteed so you're welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html).
Im gonna start with I love the fit and comfort of these. But I just cant buy another pair. They just dont last. Every pair Ive bought in the last six months are already in the garbage. Patagonia needs to live up to their marketing here.
Specifically the material in the Inner thigh wears out fast. Its not resilient, and very thin to start.

Super comfortable
Fit is great no bunching or wedgies! Really like the variety of colors and prints
The captioned boxers are fantastic! They are easily the most comfortable briefs Ive owned. They breathe well, and fit just right. I have used them for intensive workouts, hikes, and casually. A bit pricey for sure, but worth it. I usually wear XL briefs, but found they were too loose. I exchanged them for LARGE, and they fit perfect. Try them!
These boxer briefs have a texture that is comforting and a fit that is supportive and, yes, confidence-inspiring. They're ideal for everyday casual wearing and for enough support for athletic pursuits.
Loved these, very comfortable and soft. Only problem is holes started appearing in them after less than 6 months. I have pairs of Mountain Khaki briefs last me several years. I was disappointed in the durability of these. Tough to be environmentally sustainable when you have to buy multiple pairs a year.
I was disappointed to see Patagonia stop offering trad briefs, because my experience with boxer/briefs was dismal - the legs always working their was into my crotch when engaging in athletic activities. Im 6 ft tall and 185lbs, this is my third pair and I love them. Wish they also came in a merino option!

These are the best active underwear on the market. Extremely comfortable and stays in place.

Enjoy the fit and the comfort of these. They're the right length that they don't slip up during normal wear. Good durability after several months. Hope they continue to last!
These are without fail the best boxer briefs I have ever worn, and they are also the worst. Incredibly comfortable, keep me organized and they stay where they are supposed to, around my waist. Amazing
These are the best you can buy for the money. I have 7 pairs and love them. Comfy, elastic, warm, and don't wear down to slowly like some other brands do.
I've tried dozens of boxers and these are the best Ive found. They do not ride up and most importantly they do not wedge into you-know-where. I highly recommend.
Usually run with straight up boxers, some endevours require support. These are great. They keep everything where it is supposed to be, and don't bunch up. Love them and will buy more.
I cannot say enough about these underwear. I purchased four pair almost 12 years ago for my husband who is a truck driver and here those four pairs are still going strong today. Extremely comfortable
I have never been a fan of boxer briefs until now. The Essential Boxer Briefs fit snugly against my body and stay put where they should allowing me to wear work longs days in them with them hiking up my thighs.
I love the fit but I have gone through 6 pair since June. The comfortable thin layer is just not durable. Its a real bummer that the quality doesnt match the Patagonia ethos nor myself for keeping on purchasing these and then throwing away months later. The wear appears on the inner thigh months after purchasing.
I have had a number of these over the past 3-4 years. I love the feel, fit and pattern on them but unfortunately as other reviewers have noted, they are not durable. Good fit, comfortable and an added bonus
This a second time around on these for me. The fit for me is good, they are comfy but the bonus is the wicking. They keep me dry and that is unlike other underwear. So far durability is not a problem and the comfort, durability and bonus are why I wear them. I will stick with these in the future.
I am a boxer brief guy, and these are pretty darn comfortable. With that said I am getting holes all over. The first showed up a few months in. Very comfortable and fit true
Very comfortable and fit true to size. Definitely will order more
These are the most comfortable underwear I own. They feel like I am wearing next to nothing while providing great support. I can wear these to work under dress pants or under shorts for exercise. Would definitely recommend having a few pairs of these.
These are exactly what I was hoping for to replace some of my Hanes. The quality is clearly better, they are more comfortable, and I am going to buy more now that I've tried and appreciated the quality.
Maybe the only thing from Patagonia that I've been disappointed with? Pretty tattered after less than a year of normal wear and tear. Lightweight and love the fit when they're not full of holes, ha.

not of patagonia quality
I ordered 3 pairs and have worn them for ~8 mos. The material is too thin and not durable (not good for biking)

Most coformtable
The comfort is second to none. They are now my favorite underwear. I have been into good briefs for a while now, these definitely top the technical fabric to skin field. Well done. Wished I had bought 3 more pairs!
I love Patagonia products and, as you may know, I have purchased a lot of them over the last 35 years. I have one complaint that has arisen over the last 5 or so years: the sizes keep changing. For the boxer briefs, I used to be a perfect medium (32-33 waist), but now I'm apparently a large, although those are a little big for me. Frustrating. Thanks for listening. David

Really like these--only thing to improve is.......the tags! For something designed to be worn against the skin, 3 sewn-in tags, the longest on one pair was several inches long. Can't for the life of me understand what all those tags are needed for. Oh, and none of them can tell me the size. Kinda useless at that point.
Hey there Charles! Those tags tell us what the item is, where it is made, what material it is made from, and how to wash the garment. Luckily, in the Men’s Essential Boxer Briefs, they are perforated for easy removal. Gently grab the brief’s material behind those white tags and carefully rip them out. Great boxers but they have a short useful life
The essential boxer briefs fit true to size and are a good product except for one flaw: these boxers do NOT last. The material is so thin that it begins to basically decompose and shred within 18 months.
I purchased several pairs in Feb 2020 and today (9/30/21) every single pair is falling apart. The material is too thin. 1.5 years is a short use... Read Moreful life for boxers with this price tag.
These are very comfortable, but they are not very durable. I have purchased several of these in the past 2 years, and also have the sender boxer briefs, purchased 2 years ago. Nice shorts, bad fly
I like everything about the shorts except one thing. The fly is difficult to use! Its hard to locate and constructed in such a way that its hard to get the the connection open. Nice material. Well constructed. Comfortable. But a bad fly negates it all for me.
Hey Mike, thanks for the review on our Essential Boxer Briefs. We're sorry to hear of your disappointment with the fly opening and have passed your feedback along to our design team. If you'd like to return them, please give them a good wash before hand and begin the process [here](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html).

Most Comfortable Underwear Ever, Soft and Perfect Fit
I can't get enough of these, hope Patagonia makes them forever. I beta tested 5 different brands of underwear before concluding it just doesn't get better than these for daily wear. Again, for daily use - you can't buy better underwear, highly recommend!
These boxer briefs are perfect for about 3 months. Then they'll develop holes in the butt guaranteed. I've owned at least 6 pairs and it has happened to each one.
The stitching gave out where material meets elastic band for all pairs I purchased. Same with the stitching around the hemn of leg opening. If you're looking for high quality boxer briefs I'd say keep looking.

Great fit, and cool
Love 'em. These boxer briefs fit great and keep those hot bits cool. Moisture wicks away quickly. Liked so much I bought more!
I loved the softness, but the fabric did not hold up even after a single days use. Patagonia's excellent customer service team took them back. hope they improve the quality on this line as it is the only model with a fly currently in the offering.
Hi Pavan! Thanks for letting us know about the issues with the fabric. We've passed this along to our quality control team.

HANDS DOWN BEST BOXER BRIEFS
The best boxer briefs I have purchased many expensive ramps to see wich one I like and from every one Ive owned the best one are the Patagonia boxer briefs extremely comfortable.
I think these are the best boxers on the planet. I can do anything in them without getting in a bind. I've worn them for years and know they will last, which is why I keep buying more after I do finally wear them out.
I loved these boxer briefs, but after a year of normal use they began wearing holes in the inner thigh and where the fabric meets the elastic waistband. Three of five pairs that I bought are suffering this fate and I can't in good conscience recommend these for the long haul, which is uncharacteristic of Patagonia gear.
Thank you for this feedback, Michael! We're sorry to hear about the lack of durability in the fabric or construction. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us to return the affected pairs under our Ironclad Guarantee. We'll be happy to [help](https://help.patagonia.com/s/)!

Awesome Undies - Recent Durability Issues
I have found Patagonia's underwear to be my favorite choice over the years - historically they have been amazingly comfortable and durable along with solid prints and colors. Unfortunately the recent offerings seem to be lacking in the durability department. I ordered several pairs in 2020 and within a year all of them had worn through the fab... Read Moreric. Comfortable, but did not last.
Unfortunately these boxer briefs did not hold up. I bought two pair & the first pair developed a hole in the seat after 2 wears. The other pair lasted almost a year (~10 times wearing). They were very comfortable so that made me especially sad to see them have such a short life. I wont be buying these boxer briefs again.
Hi Ira, we're sorry to hear that the Men's Essential Boxer Briefs - 6" aren't as durable as expected. Please feel free to begin a return or exchange here, https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html.

My favorite briefs ever
Honestly worth every penny. Love em. Get them on sale if you want to try them out. Definitely recommend!
I have been wearing the mesh Patagonia underwear for years and its by far the best underwear on the market. I decided to give these a try as theyre not mesh and they did not disappoint. Perfect product.
been waring these briefs now for over a year, what a find. The most comfortable brief I've ever worn ,no binding riding up the back side, i hardly know i, wearing anything. I've converted 3 others in my shop, now a happy crew!
I wear a lot of Patagonia products. At any given time Im probably wearing one or two and literally everything except this pair of boxers have been super high quality, which is why Im so disappointed in these. This is not a replacement for the capilene shorts
I have lived in the capilene shorts for years and other than the waste band wearing out they are my go to shorts at any time.
I do not know why Patagonia discontinued the capilene shorts as they did help me stay cool and dry.

Fantastic briefs
I have always worn briefs. I hate buying underwear in general. I figured I would try the briefs of my favorite brand. What do you know, they fit great.
