XL is not XL
I really wanted these to work, but they run exceptionally small. I couldn't even get my hands into them. They've been passed down to my 5ft 7 wife. The XL fits her perfectly.

Great idea on paper, but poor fit and execution
I really wanted to like these gloves. Pretty much any Patagonia article I've bought before was an instant favorite. But not these gloves. In paper, convertible mittens to fingerless gloves are a good idea. But these gloves are not good in any of these configurations. First, the knit is so that wind can easily go thru. So in mitten mode, these... Read More do not keep the chill away at all. Then in fingerless mode, well, you don't have access to your thumb. I see why they designed like this as it would have been difficult to mitten-nize it without an always covered thumb, but because these gloves run very small, the thumb is always constricted. And yes, I did measure my knuckles before ordering, and yes, even after that, I had to exchange Mediums for Larges. I will give these gloves a couple more weeks, but it's hard to image me not returning them for a refund pretty soon.

As a 63 year young woman with arthritic hands these glove/mittens are an absolute blessing. Lost my other pair of these glove and thankfully they still make these. Like the fact that mitten top can be taken down for fingers to show. I use when I'm out and about, driving, shopping, walking. I wore these last night it was about 15 degrees and my hands were numb and red after about 5 minutes. Felt like I had no gloves/mitts on at all. Very disappointed.
Hi Benjamin, the Better Sweater Fleece gloves are a great option, but they are not the warmest in our line. However, our warmest of all are our [Nano Puff Mitts](https://www.patagonia.com/search/?q=nano+puff+mitts&lang=en_US).
I was excited to see Patagonia had a version of these glove/mittens. Great multipurpose glove/mitten
These gloves/mittens have become my favorite this season. I love the ability to slip off the mitten and use my fingers. To make them perfect for me, I would put a piece of leather or something like that on the palm just below the fingers to prove a no slip grab. I like to wear them driving because I am in and out of the vehicle hauling stuff around... Read More, but they slip on my steering wheel so I have to take them off when I drive as one example. Having the thumb covered takes a little getting used to but doesn't hinder the use. Having my fingers free is sufficient. They are warm, but not too warm and haven't had any issues with my hands sweating.
Warm, Good Utility
These gloves are a little loose around the wrists on my but otherwise fit true to size and are significantly more comfortable than any other convertible glove I've tried in the past. The webbing between the fingers is comfortable and allows good range of movement and they are warm when worn as mittens.
Good Idea, but Half Baked & Returned
I wear gloves without finger tips. Hands dry and cracked this year. Perfect solution right? Wrong. Mitten flap is okay closed, but in fingerless position it's poorly restrained. Fingers are impossible tight. Get them on and you can't remove.
Thank you so much for the time you took to write this review and we are very sorry to hear that this purchase led to a return. Please rest assured that we will be passing along this feedback to our Product Designers so they are aware of these fit issues and can start work on getting them corrected. Again, thank you so much!

Great Looking but Runs Small
Read many reviews about how these gloves/mittens run small. So I sized up and still a bit snug but kept them because I love the look. The pull back option is nice too except one had a closure band that was a bit larger than the other & the button kept slipping out so I sewed it a bit tighter and that did the trick.

Great idea for dog walking
Bought these for my wife for a present. Size small and they are kinda tight. She also says the material does not block wind at all. Neat idea, not great warmth.

Bad design on the fingers cuts off circulation
This is the first Patagonia product I've ever bought that was less than thoughtfully designed. The way the fingers are constructed (folded over and hemmed like a teeny tiny pant leg) constricts the size of the finger opening, and eliminates the elastic properties of the fleece. The next effect is that the blood flow to the tips of your fingers... Read More is restricted. You wont notice this in the store, but when your on the water on a fall day, and start to get cold, your body naturally restricts blood flow to the extremities. This design flaw exacerbates this substantially. I don't have huge hands relative to my 6-4 height (ya, ha ha ha) and my fingers are fairly thin. I usually wear a size L but bought an XL, and my fingertips numb within 30 min on the water, and dead-numb-like-somebody-elses-fingers-numb by an hour. Lest you think this was only because I was on the water on a cold day with the fingers exposed, I just experienced the same thing in full mitten mode walking my dogs around the block on a cool dry day (44 and overcast, no rain, no wind).
Thank you for this detailed feedback, Zach. Customer input like this is incredibly helpful to our product designers as they revise future designs. We're sorry the design of the fingers left you so uncomfortable! We will reach out to you about returning this pair.
Buy a size up, otherwise stylish, functional, not super warm
Bought these for winter walks with my dog, but was surprised to discover that the Larges were very small for my hands. Great idea, but kind of clunky
I like the theory of a combo mitten and fingertip-less glove, but the little hems at the end of each finger were too thick and stiff and the gloves aren't as warm as I had hoped.

Dog Walking Gloves
I couldn't be more specific when I say this but I needed gloves for walking my dog and having access to my fingers to clean up her messes. I was given a pair of larges for Christmas and I was stunned because they didn't fit. I returned them and they finally became available in late Feb./early March when I didn't need them as much but... Great multi-use glove/mitten
This is the second pair I've bought because I love them so much (I lost my first pair and was heartbroken). They are super warm, but not suffocating. Save yourself the money and get a pair of gloves that is actually made for winter. Nice, but not very warm
I've had these for a couple weeks and I'm already afraid these aren't going to cut it for Chicago in February. There really is no insulation, so on windy days my hands still get pretty chilly. While it's nice to be able to break out my fingers from the mittens, I wish I could do so with the thumb (to use my phone).

NOT for warmth - wind goes right through them
I bought these for when i walk my dogs - i wore them on a relativly warmish day ( 45 degrees with very slight wind ) - when i say very little, i mean very little warmth to them and the little wind that was out there cut right through the gloves. I love the way these gloves feel. Cozy and warm. So handy to have finger access. I also like button fastener that holds the mitten flap back. Much better than Velcro, in my opinion. I did need to exchange the large for an XL because the fingers were a little snug and the length a little short for my large hands.
Warm and comfortable
These mittens are warm, comfortable and high quality materials. They could be improved by getting rid of the strap and button to keep them open. Well-made but not functional
These gloves were used as in town gloves, hopefully, but what I found is the fit was small, the feel of the glove was a bit unnatural in a little uncomfortable and in general it was one of my lesser favorite gloves. Might work better for a smaller hand just didnt work for me
Good for cold weather.....
But not ideal for sub 32f. The flip top is a single layer of bettersweater and would be warmer if it were two layers or some thin insulation . Warm But Run Small
At first, I was very surprised by how small these gloves run. I typically would order a Large for such an item, but I had to exchange for an XL, which fit much better. The exchange process was easy enough. The gloves are as warm as you would expect. I live in SW Pennsylvania, and the temps have been averaging in the low to mid 20s this winter, and ... Read Morethese are keeping my hands plenty warm for short walks with my dog around the neighborhood. Nice Gloves for "cool" and "cold" weather
We are in the Seattle area and walk daily. We like these fingerless gloves with the cap on them so that when it is not quite so cold the cap can come off and when it is colder, the cap can cover the fingers. My husband and I both are usually medium glove size but purchased the large and they fit nicely with a tad extra room in the palms.
Warm and practical
Because of my poor circulation, gloves don't work for me (I actually end up feeling colder in my hands with gloves on than without and in my pockets). These Gloves/Mittens finally did the trick.
