Fits great, really comfortable, never gets too hot and I tend to run warm. Perfect for travel, from overly air conditioned planes to walking or stuffy trains. I liked it so much, I bought another one in a different color.
This is such an awesome next-to-skin layer for any winter or shoulder season activity - it's so light and so warm. Resists stank really well thanks to the wool content and integrates well into a bunch of different layering scenarios. Love the way the hood functions as a neck gaiter, the only thing it's missing is thumb holes.
Purchased this after my R1 finally fell apart and pleasantly surprised since first look I didnt think it would be warm or work. I have worn it skiing five times under a parka but most recently put it to the test while skinning during a storm just as a layer with no other top for the climb and have to say it breathed well, stayed dry which was shock... I wore this and the matching bottoms on a ski trip last weekend in the NE when temps were dropping to -40 with wind chill. These plus the usual layers on top made it feel like any other ski day. The hood kept my head and face warm all day. These are the only liners you'll ever need.
I have now bought two of these capilene air hoodies and have been very satisfied with my purchases. They are very comfortable and when layered properly have been able to keep me warm and dry while skiing in the coldest MN temperatures. The hood is nice too as it can replace a balaclava in a pinch and does keep your neck warm when up or down. It... Read More7;s also long arm friendly. I highly recommend this product.
I've been using this piece for years. It's hands down the best active baselayer for temps below say 15 degrees and also cold / wet condition summer use.
Previous year's the size large had too short sleeves and torso - I lived with it due to the superb properties of the fabric. Upon buying a new one I was ecstatic when I put it on an... Read Mored saw that the torso and sleeve length has been increased. THANK YOU PATAGONIA! It's perfect now!
This is an amazing piece of clothing: its warm when you want it to be, but also breathable when you want it to be. The air-blasted wool is thin but very lofty. If it is has a wind barrier on top of it, it is actually warmer than other heavier, denser wool weaves. But if you remove the wind barrier, wind will cut right through it -- making it highly... Read More breathable, and perfect for cold weather exertion where you sometimes need to vent heat, but other times need to be really warm. It's also extremely cozy and the hood is very functional as a scarf when pulled down. The shirt also dries very quickly, and never smells because of the wool content. In the winter I basically live in this. Love it so much.
This is probably my new favorite base layer. Product fits very snug against your body but is extremely stretchy. Surprisingly warm for how thin it is. Definitely can use this as a base layer as well as walking downtown in the autumn afternoon. Only thing I would be careful about is wearing this on the outside of your body hiking as it may snag on b... Read Moreranches and pull this knitting loose. Expensive? Sure. But knowing it comes from a spectacular environmentally driven company and seeing as its merino wool, well worth the money. Highly recommend.
