I wear this jacket when it is 50-60 degrees or so, and layer up or down for the temperature. I like the full zipper, to modulate heat as I walk or hike. Pockets are great. They fit a cell phone well.
I purchased the R1 layering jacket to wear at the gym, and when I need a lightweight jacket outside or inside the house. I own three Patagonia R1 tops and love them so decided to try the jacket. The R1 is incredibly comfortable and soft with a fleece lining. The R1 tops and jacket are my top choices to wear almost every day.
I work remotely from home in a sunroom of a 100+ year old building in Chicago. It gets cool in there and this jacket is my go to. I have been enjoying this jacket. It is a good length, covers my hips and backside. Its soft and lightweight, and dries quickly after being out in the rain. I spent a bit more than I would have liked but have been wearing frequently and feel like I got good quality for the price.
I wear this jacket daily at work. It is the perfect thickness for an office environment. I have a size small and purchased size medium this time just for a little extra room. These jackets still look new after years of everyday wear. They do not pile and hold their shape every well. Will continue purchasing this style.
This is a nice, flattering and warm jacket. The fabric is soft and good quality. I took it on African safari and it was a perfect choice for chilly morning game drives.

I got one of these jackets in black previously and I love it. This blue is a beautiful subtle tone.
Got this recently (August) on sale. Not cool enough yet to wear but I know I’ll soon get lots of use out of it. I wanted a cardigan for ease of removal. The slim fit will layer well. I can use it for travel as well as everyday. I’m 5’2” and 125 lbs. The medium is a good fit for me as I have somewhat broad shoulders and prefer a relaxed fit.
I wear these jackets almost every day! They are my favorite. I put them on after work. They are soft and just the right weight for over air conditioned environments and cool evenings. I have one in large and its a little big. The medium is more fitted. For reference, I am 5 foot 7 and 145 pounds.

Super warm
This jacket is my go to for work. Its stylish, and it keep me warm. I love the color and fit.
I bought this for my wife for her birthday to replace a 10 year old Patagonia that finally wore out. She loves it - soft, comfortable and perfect for early spring hikes.
Exactly what I was looking for. Warm, soft, technical but not too "technical-looking" so I can wear it hiking/skiing and more casually. Feels like a sweater but is warm enough to be a jacket, plus it's breast feeding friendly, which is surprisingly hard to find!
This is the perfect transition jacket for days that range from 40s - 50s. It is very light and thin, but kept me warm with just a tee shirt underneath. I like the feminine fit, with a bit of stretch. Very happy with this jacket!
Love this jacket, but the extra length is not necessary, and makes a great fitting jacket up top very difficult to fit on the lower half. It is either too small for anyone with hips and butt (I'm an athletic build, so nothing out of the ordinary) or it has to be unzipped or scrunched up at the waist. Design team: take note please and maybe I'll replace this one with a shorter (or wider at the hip, but prefer shorter) and sell this one back in the future.
It was just too snug in the body. I wasn't looking for a fitted style. The weight was very nice, sleeves were plenty long, the body was long too...just too fitted through the body for my liking. Great jacket if it fit.
I love this piece so much. Its thin but warm, soft on the inside, not super technical looking. I love wearing it out and about when running errands. The cut is good for me, and I really appreciated the longer length. It's a slim fit so sized up and can easily layer it under a coat. Overall a big win
I like this jacket, and it fits nearly true to size, but as most of the products I buy from Patagonia lately, its very tight in the shoulder/under the armpit. Still, it works. I am slender with wider shoulders, though, not out of the ordinary- just have more of an athletic build. I tried on the size Med and it was way too baggy, long and bulky.

Super comfortable and warm
Absolutely Love it! Warm and comfy, washes well and just perfect for cool windy conditions.
I ordered a medium at first, knowing this R1 was a slim fit. My old R2 jackets are all mediums. The R1 I ordered was to big, sort of draped over me. I then ordered a small and though its form fitting I like this look better.
I tried this jacket on at an REI store and bought it immediately. It was so soft and warm but not restrictive. I thought I would use it for running. I have ended up wearing this jacket everyday. I am 5 ft 3 in and the sleeves and torso are too long for me. I do like that the jacket is thin but the material is just ok. Not my favorite Patagonia piece. I would return it but it's too late.

Amazing Quality and Material!
This was my first purchase from Pantagonia and it was the best purchase. The material is so incredibly soft and the coat is thin enough to wear in the heat, but enough to also keep you warm in a very cold office. This is exactly what I was looking for. Definitely well worth it and I am now a dedicated customer to the Pantagonia line!
Jacket was really really thin and I am short but this jacket is very long and so are the arms. Normally everything fits me a tiny bit big but this was overly big in all areas on the length.

My stay-at-home mom "uniform" used to be the old version of the R1 jacket, but over the years it became straight, unflattering and uncomfortable so I stopped buying it. I purchased this jacket as a warm layer under my Torrentshell rain jacket. I like that it doesn't have a hood and a full zip for this purpose. It also fits nicely under my jacket. Poor zipper
The zipper is plastic and doesnt fit together to zip it up. Sending it back and hoping its just this jacket, not an overall design flaw.

So cozy and soft
I was really hesitant about this jacket because of the glossy finish that made it look like it could be like one of those plasticky adidas track suit jackets. It is none of that. I purchased a jacket for a Christmas present for a friend from a local store that has this product for same price. She has worn it a handful of times and the sleeves material is knotting up as well as across the front. Not even 30days after purchase. The color black is fading some, a little costly for this to be an issue already
I bought this jacket in black and navy blue. It is very comfortable. Perfect if you need warm jacket but don't want to get too hot. I am in love with my purchase.
