Alaska Needs You
More mining and drilling in America's Arctic will push us away from a livable Earth and further into climate chaos. Right now, you can help protect our climate, local communities and biodiversity by asking our government to stop extraction in three areas under threat in Alaska.

I bought this shirt when I was visiting Colorado over Memorial Day. We had several small hikes planned, and on the first hike I realized that wearing sunscreen only was not going to be enough. We stopped in a local outdoor store, and this was the shirt I picked out. Unlike a reviewer above, even though the fabric feels a little heavy, I find that t... Read Morehe shirt is actually pretty cool. I was not hot on any of my remaining Colorado hikes. Since returning to the steamy heat of North Carolina, I have worn it riding horses. I typically wear another type of shirt with long sleeves and mesh on the underside of the sleeves but this shirt is actually cooler than those. An added bonus is the very flattering cut. I like it so well, that I plan to order a few more.
Material is too warm
I am a flyfishing guide in the high altitude of South Park, Colorado. I need a long sleeved sun shirt with a hood and SPF. The material on this shirt is soft but it is too warm for the summer months. The colors(I bought blue and green) would be good for ocean fishing but I wish Patagonia(or anyone!) would make sunshirts for women in browns and neut... Hi Frances, thank you for sharing this feedback! We are passing along your notes about more earth-toned colors to our design team. In the meantime, if the warmth of this Hoody is too uncomfortable to be practical for your needs please remember you are welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) it if you wish. If you'd prefer a lighter option you might also check out our Capilene Cool Daily Hoody.
Super comfy and soft
I am 160# and ordered a large. Depending on the fit, I can be a medium, large, or x large. It fit perfectly for me which is a little on the looser side. I use it for sun and insect protection while hiking, walking, or at the beach. It is such a lovely shirt and launders so well, I will likely wear it to work as well. I like it so much that I have t... Read Morewo in pink and two in blue. I love the soft colors and soft fabric as much as the great fit.
We appreciate your feedback on the fit, comfort, fabric and performance! This particular hoody has a relaxed fit design, so customers may size down if they prefer a more streamlined fit. Great for Gardening
Well, it's wonderful. I wore it weeding gardens recently and was fully protected from the sun. Did not need any sunscreen, which I don't use much of anymore. Fit is good. It kept me cool, I did not overheat in it, even though it was in the high 70's and sunny. I have no suggestions for improvement, sorry! I like that it can compress ... Like it, but could use improvements
So, I love the sun protection, longer sleeves and body and the secure hood. The verdict on the weight is still out as it is a little thicker, but I did not like the side zipper at all - which could use some major changes. First, while the description mentions the side zipper there are zero photos of it, so I assumed it was a small seam pocket towa... Read Morerds the bottom with a low-profile zipper. It is not. It is on the right side of the shirt below the armpit, zipper just above where the band of a sports bra would fall, and the zipper itself is large and protrudes. You can really only put a credit card and ID in it at best because anything else would be too intrusive. I could feel the cards hitting my skin constantly as I ran/hiked - I didn't even try to put my key in it. If you wear a pack the shoulder straps fall right over the pocket - so the pocket is useless, and if you did put anything in it, I can't see it being comfortable at all (mine pushed down on the pocket in such a way that it made the card & ID stick outward? so much that I decided to forego a pack for my run). Amazingly the clunky zipper didn't drive me batty, but I can see it rubbing against the sleeve over time and causing wear. I don't know why they didn't use one of their super low-profile zippers like they have on some of their leggings and put the zipper towards the bottom hem - or just get rid of this pocket altogether. On the plus side I love how much longer the sleeves are than their Capilene Cool line, I appreciate the level of sun protection, I love how the hood does not come off - even when not buttoned and with some wind, and I love that the shirt is longer than other styles. The weight was a bit heavier than I would like, but it is still tolerable and as I'm guessing it is part of the sun protection piece - I'm okay with the tradeoff. Overall, I still like the shirt, I'm just hoping they make some edits to the style for the next edition.
Comfortable, but hold stains
I bought this shirt for sun protection during field work in the desert. It was very comfortable in 90F+ and didn't hold odor the way synthetic fabrics do. However, I have found it impossible to remove mud stains from this fabric. I hoped it would be more versatile, but with the stains I won't be wearing it for anything but work.
Hi Marlene, thank you for submitting this review. We're sorry to hear it's been so difficult to remove those stains! You might take a look at our [Product Care page](https://www.patagonia.com/repairs/#product-care) for help, and if those steps don't work you can reach out to our Customer Service Team for help.
What I was looking for!
Ive been on the hunt for a good sun shirt that checks all my boxes and this seems to be it! The hood is actually large enough to cover my face from the sun, or extend over the brim of a hat. Which I found other brands to always miss the mark on such as OR. It also has two options for thumb holes and the sleeves are long enough to cover my hands wit... Read Morehout pulling and being uncomfortable. I spend a lot of time in the desert sun for work and play so these functions are super important to me. I also really like the fabric, almost bamboo like. It is slightly heavier than others, such as OR, which is super light but seems more durable long term. I dont know how it actually does long term, such as odor and durability but I have high hopes! Will be purchasing another more likely for this field season. Patagonia offer more colors please!
Perfect fabric for a lightweight sun shirt
I think Patagonia really struck gold with the fabric used in the Natural Tropic Comfort line. The other Tropic Comfort shirts were a bit too thick for me, making it hard to wear in the summer when it was warm out. The fit is also really good, not too loose, not too tight. I'm usually in between a small and a medium and the small fits. I will b... Read Moree convincing my friends to upgrade to the natural tropic comfort shirts! Also one more thing - one review says "super warm" but that's not really what this shirt is for Sure it'll keep you warm on a brisk summer morning, but only because it's an extra layer. The shirt feels more like a layer that's cooling, that's about it.
