Great product; material and workmanship are excellent. Patagonia doesn't mess with a good thing, I have purchased this base layer several times over last 10year and I know I am always going to get a great fit, superb fabric and perfectly useful base layer
It's lightweight, warm, but a little itchy. The design is great. I love the ribbed sleeve ends. The sizing is little off. The sleeves are really long for an XL and I should know, because I own a lot of Patagonia gear. This XL runs long in the sleeves.
I have walked/run in (hot/cold) this shirt 6 miles a day for the last 2 1/2 years and washed this shirt daily in cold water, hung to dry and it worked great. I noticed a few holes, took it into the Patagonia store and received a replacement. Unbelievable service!
Took a few try-ons in the store to get the right fit. Wore this on an all day hike in the Eagles Nest Wilderness and it was perfect. Not too hot, wicked away the sweat, dried fast. At first I thought it was a little pricey, now I wish I'd gotten two.
I'm 5'10" and 165 and reasonably fit. The medium fits perfectly. And, it's a nice tailored fit that is flattering. It's also very comfortable and soft. Huge fan. I only wish there were more color options!
I wear this shirt often as a thin base layer when its colder and its comfortable, stays reasonably warm for such a thin fabric, and wicks well. The only issue is its very short. Im smaller and generally Patagonia xs fits me well, but this one is so short that it cant tuck in at all, though the sleeves fit.
The merino piece I recently purchased has out performed my needs. Perfect warm factor but also so comfortable. Just in time for our sub zero xmas super cold temps .
I wear this shirt daily and nightly! I have nine that I wear in rotation. On its own when it's warmer and at night. As a base layer underneath a sweater when it's colder. I am totally addicted!
It is supremely comfortable, ultra-light and can be comfortably warn for 3 days, two weeks at night without odor buildup. (I use another for exe... Read Morercise). I have so many because they won't last forever and I don't want to stress them. (I machine wash and hand dry).
One request: navy blue! I would buy a half dozen more tomorrow.
I have other Patagonia weights for base layer skiing, etc., and another other brand (Icebreaker 750) which comes in blue (more royal than navy) which I really don't wear. Slightly too heavy and too fitted.
The key to why this shirt works - the Merino Wool blend that regulates body temperature naturally. Merino Wool is a superb insulator, even when wet. Highly recommend this well made shirt.
I wear a dry suit when I sea kayak in water temps south of 65 degrees. I needed a light base layer under my main insulative garment. I had successfully used an old lightweight Patagonia merino LS zip T, but that eventually wore out. I almost went with a 100% Capilene LS shirt, but my experience with Capilene is that it will work, but it also retain... Read Mores an odor, so my selection had to work on a multi-day trip. I came across the shirt which is a merino/capilene bend. Hmmm, may this will work and it did! I now have three of them. It's now my favorite base layer. I would love to see this in a zip-T, but the crew neck does do the job.
This is the best shirt ever made. That sounds hyperbolic, but it's true. Perfect length, true to size, gorgeous skin feel. I bought one as a test (because, let's me honest, they are not cheap). Afterwards, I bought every single color.
The material and colors of this shirt are very nice, however, I felt like the cut of the design was unflattering. If you're working out with this shirt that might not be a consideration, but as a causal shirt not that great (but it could be an amazing casual shirt with a slight athletic cut to the design).

Yet another tremendous piece, along
Yet another tremendous piece, along with any other Patagonia product from Patagonia that says merino or capilene, none of it ever disappoints. Excellent base layer or an excellent shirt across a wide range of temps.
Starting a few years ago, my only running shirts have been light weight wool and of the few brands I've tried, the Cool Merino is the best by far. I have four at this point, but decided to try out the long sleeve as a layer for cooler weather. Given that its summer, I've only worn it a few times, but I couldn't be happier. These are ... I really like this shirt, it is soft and comfortable and mostly fits great. The sleeves are a little bit short so 4 stars otherwise it's a 5 star shirt.
I have enjoyed wearing this shirt, as I walk approximately 6 miles a day. In fact, I wash it after walking and it has held up very well. I have no specific issues with the shirt and would recommend it to others. I feel comfortable even though I have a considerable amount of perspiration. Awesome fabric, super comfortable and love the concept. I would have 3 or 4 if they fit. Received the merino wool shirt. Heard so much about the hype and theyre all true. The shirt is fantastic at wicking moisture as I never felt clammy when I was snowboarding. Kept me feeling dry and warm. Its light enough to be worn just under my jacket. I suggested to many others to try this shirt as compares to other base layers. Love it.
Great shirt. Thin and breathes well. Protects me from the sun during the 70 degree winter days we've had in California this season. Perfect for low 70's rounds on the golf course as well as hiking. Good all round long sleeve.

Really comfortable long sleeve perfect for runs in mid 40s to mid 50s temperature - but also very delicate and easily prone to getting holes in the washer and should be hand washed. I'm on my second shirt.
Yes yes the shirt is great, but what is even better is the customer service I got at the store when I went to exchange the shirt for a better color. The clerk went overboard to find me the right color.
Really loving the feel and cut of this shirt. It works well as a lightweight shirt in the summer or base layer for active winter pursuits. Please keep merino in the lineup Patagonia!
You have to love the easy way this sweater wears; for all situations merino wool is the best in terms of flexibility: for everyday casual, a hike, walk the critters, or a fast ride to do errands. Like it. Wear it as a base layer and by itself. Looks good and feels good. Wish it were slightly more fitted to an athletic build but it's not overly baggy around the mid-section which is my most common complaint.
I had high hopesI have an older version of the merino wool Capilene shirt that I absolutely love and reached out to customer service, this was the recommended replacement. Extra layers
Ive head this item for a limited time and cannot yet determine how it will hold up to repeated washings, hard wear and abuse thats why I can only give it 4 stars.

Fantastic experience. Great service! The shirt itself is a little bit thinner and more delicate than I expected. Does not feel like it will hold up after a few washings, but we will see.

Great as an outer layer
I wear this shirt indoors in winter and a bit outdoors as an outer layer over colored undershirts. I have a similar yellow mango-colored long sleeve shirt that I wear for sun protection in the summer. I am 5'10" and relatively fit (no extra belly weight). [2] If I wear this shirt as one layer without an undershirt, the thin light-colored fabric shows nipples, which my wife declared is not a good look for me as a man. (Although I think would be a lovely natural look for a woman.)
This is an incredible top that works from adventure sports to lounging around the house. The fabric is so soft against the skin and extremely lightweight. This is the perfect shirt. I love long sleeve shirts. This one is really soft and has a bit of stretch to it. It feels great and works great in a large variety of temperatures such as 75-55 degrees. It's so comfortable and looks dang awesome.
Very happy with this layer so far. Most merino layers are rather itchy in my experience, so far so good with this one, its very soft. Would like to see more colors, such as white or off white be made available.

First off I just wanna say I haven't had a bad product from Patagonia (yet). Lets first discuss the pros!!

c) great fit at the top but loose at the waist!
- if you have a longer torso this would be great on you!
- shorter torso may look wonky unless you have a built upper body!
Love this shirt except for the cuffs which I can't pull up much past my wrists. They're just too tight. I have a 44" chest, 34" waist, 16" biceps (relaxed), broad shoulders (50" circumference), 33" sleeves.

I bought and use this shirt for running, where it's nice to have a long sleeve when things get a bit windy and sunny. It feels more fragile but more pleasant on the skin than the Cap Cool Trail Shirt.
The fit is fantastic (much unlike the wonky fit of the capilene cool daily). Very lightweight, very soft and comfortable. Nipples are fairly visible. I will show mine to the world...you couldn't pry this thing off of me.
Bought this for a base layer. Its comfortable against the skin, keeps heat under layers, but sheds heat and moisture as a solo T. Late winter in NorCal now, so thru a day it fits a variety of functions. Im impressed!
Fits just right-does great with reg wash. Has a warm feel but not hot . After wearing the long sleeve version I immediately ordered the short sleeve version. Very satisfied!
Perfect lightweight combination of merino and synthetic; merino keeps it from stinking but it dries almost as quick as synthetics. Quickly became a goto for warmer weather as a stand alone or base layer. Love it.
A merino-capilene blend? The minute I got the email I bought 2. Unfortunately both colors were essentially see through and didn't hang well. Returned for another regular Capilene Cool long sleeve, which is still awesome, and not see through.
The material is very soft and wears well under a middle layer. Does not smell after several days and provides a good amount of warmth. I will use it to layer for an up-coming hiking trip to Iceland.
Normally I feel that Patagonia sizes run large. I am 61 170 lbs and usually find I am a Patagonia medium. This one seems a tad smallish but what you might expect in a great baselayer shirt. This is my first merino light long sleeve from patagonia and its perfect in every way. I have an outdoor voices merino long sleeve and this absolutely trumps it. Thank you patagonia for your attention to detail. Lightweight for fall and spring layer and even in the summer for under 80 temps. Bought two colors just so I could make sure I had enough
I wore this shirt while hiking in the southern Utah desert for 8 miles in 80 degree, sunny weather. This shirt keeper me cool and comfortable. It's super cozy and works well as a warm base layer as well. I'm so glad Patagonia found a way to source wool from a more sustainable method in order to bring merino wool base layers back.
I have a 260 Ice Breaker shirt which is nice in winter but wanted a lighter wool. The Capilene Merino is perfect for spring weather when around the house. Surprising it hold the heat really well while riding my bike, much better then my light weight Castelli wool top which I love too. The Patagonia top is the most versatile of the two.
The shirt is incredibly soft and so light weight that you hardly notice it's on. My wife was so jealous she bought one for herself. It did fit a little more snug than I expected, but not enough that I wanted to size up.
Super comfortable and lightweight. Love the quality and color. I hate to take it off. Money well spent. Cant wait to see how it holds up once the summer comes around. Nice added layer under a jacket and comfy in warmer spring temps with no fuss and discomfort.
This shirt is very soft and very solid for the price point. To be 65% merino and 35% polyester, it has the full capabilities of merino wool (wicking, preventing smell, and temperature regulation) and the lightweight feel of polyester. By clingy I mean it fit real nice. But since it was yellow and thin because it is a base layer it was showing my nipples too much but nevertheless it was not for me
Took a gamble and brought this as my shirt for a 7 day bikepacking trip without testing it prior. It did wonderful in a range of conditions (drizzle/windy/sunny and 30-60F) and performed nicely as a base layer when it got a little too cold/windy for it to be worn alone.

But with that, this is a thin material so if you run cold and/or are in conditions below 25F then youre going to need a heavier base layer. I strongly recommend the cap air in that case.
Oh and no smells :)
Highly recommended as a technical shirt all the way to an around the house shirt.
Purchased expecting weight similar to past season's Nine Trails long-sleeved t-shirt, but is much thinner and stays comfortable into a higher temperature range. Back to the closer fitting collar, which is personally preferred, but not noticeable as the fabric is exceptionally smooth and comfortable. Size was exactly as expected for a medium.
