My go to first layer for wide variety of conditions
Cool merino is my favorite base layer for cool-warm (mid 30s to 70s F) temperatures be it every day wear, walking, hiking,or skiing or snow shoeing. Depending upon the temperature I switch among long sleeve, short sleeve or tank top. One request I have is for Patagonia to offer one or two lighter colors not just bright or dark colors.
I really like the softness of the Capilene layers but I just cant wear synthetic, I sweat too much and its Not great with odor. I was thrilled when I saw they made a merino version! Being anti microbial its so much better and I dont have to wash it as often. Incredibly soft and comfortable.
I want to love this shirt so much! I bought it because I have the short sleeve version and it's light and breathable merino, which is a perfect combo. However, both shirts developed holes within a few months of normal wear. I'm really disappointed in the quality for Patagonia.
We're sorry to hear about the disappointing durability in this merino fabric. We recommend visiting one of our [Patagonia-owned stores](https://www.patagonia.com/store-locator/) with the shirts. They can evaluate the fabric issues in-person, discuss product care and help with a warranty return. We can also help you with a return under warranty from our main service center. Thank you for taking a moment to send us your feedback, Wilson!
Great staple (wish there were more colors).
This is a wonderful shirt. I have one in all 4 colors. I wear it to work (an office downtown), out hiking, and really anywhere. It is lightweight enough for late summer and its also great for layering in colder temps. My only wish is that is came in an off white color and a few (light and dark) gray options. Other than that, its a wonderful shirt.
This Shirt Is the Star Utility Player of My Closet
I purchased this shirt a few weeks ago and have worn it hiking, gardening, and have thrown a blazer over it for work. I travel for my job and it is lightweight, versatile, and so comfortable. I have since purchase several more (wish there were more colors to choose from). I am tall (5ft10 and 140lbs, usually a size 6-8 in tops) and the length is pe... Read Morerfect. The shirt has a nice drape. Its slim but does not hug my torso. It has a nice finish, with slits at the sides of the hem, so it looks great tucked in or untucked. It is a lightweight fabric, but I don't find it too sheer. I am not wearing it as a tight shirt, which may account for the sheerness other reviewers have mentioned. Patagonia hit a home run with this shirt and I look forward to buying more.
Great for Travel.
I first bought this in a short-sleeve T while on a surpise extended stay in NYC in the summer (hot!). To my delight, a quick wash in the sink and it was dry in no time. So now the long sleeve version to take on a long extended trip -on) (with only a carrythat will see summer heat dissipate and lots of cold airports. This is just the thing.
Super comfortable, kinda sheer
I love the color (borealis green), and the feel and comfort of this fabric. Sized down (I am 5 ft 7 in and 140 lb) to a small as I do not like a flowy midsection of fabric). Solid desighn, Alas too small

Very soft, comfortable and flattering
I love this top for its quality, fit and comfort. But I am still trying to figure out its weather profile. I purchased it for hot weather activities but given its weight, I'm thinking it might be best for cooler days as a base layer.
It was designed for summer activities, keeping you covered and cool from the sun. The material is lightweight, wicking and quick-drying. We hope you enjoy the versatility as a base layer all year long, but don't hesitate to reach out to our team with any questions. We'll be happy to [help](https://help.patagonia.com/s/)!
Incredibly perfect for hot summer days. The fabric is soft, thin, and super breathable. I just ordered this in another color and I wish there were even more colors to choose from. I know there is the graphic tees as well, but I love the plain design. Very flattering and comfortable!
Nice fabric - uncomfortable stitching
Unfortunately had to return since the stitching used for under the armpit was terribly irritating . The shirt itself was lovely, soft, nice colors and perfect for under flannel shirts. If they reversed the stitching pattern to where outside was on the inside it would have been perfect!
We're very sorry to hear that this one didn't work out for you, but we appreciate the feedback on that stitching. Please reach out if you need any assistance to return it. We'll be happy to [help](https://help.patagonia.com/s/)!
Good fit, good feel
I have several of these shirts in both long and short sleeves. Some are pretty see-through, depending on the color, but they all fit great--and are a perfect layer under a fleece or sweater. The drape on the shirt is nice and the sleeves are just the right length. I'm 5'5", 135lbs
Very scratchy tags!
Got this as a gift, probably would be better off with the Small, not the Medium, as there is a lot of extra "webbing" under my arms. It's cool and comfortable. But quite thin and sheer, which might be a problem for some people. My biggest gripe is the horrible scratchy tags- one with the Patagonia logo on the lower hem, and a set of ... Read Moreseveral others with washing instructions sewn inside the side hem. I found those unbearable. It took about 45 minutes of very careful clipping with sharp pointed sewing scissors to remove both sets of tags, thankfully without harming the fabric. Hey Liz, we appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback with us. We'll pass the word along about the tags for future consideration. One thing we'd like to mention is that so long as the item was purchased through our website, you're eligible to exchange it out for a different size even if it's a gift. We do ask that the item come back in new condition and since the tags were cut out, we would not be able to accept it back, but something to keep in mind for future.
Lightweight but warm, not form-fitting
I love this top; got it for cool-weather hikes, and an upcoming walking trip in Wales. I love the fit which is a little loose, so that I find I'm wearing it all day as casual wear too. It's warm but very lightweight, so perfect for travel. I just ordered a second one.
All I use for winter running now
I bought one of these this fall and soon had to get a second! On all but the coldest days I wear this shirt under the Houdini jacket for runs and am nice and comfortable. This is simply the best shirt for the outdoors. Please never stop making this shirt!!!!
I love these shirts, use them for everything, everyday in all seasons. They are ideal for layering. The fabric does not hold odors and washes well. I will buy them always. Cute new colors and basics. Dont wait for them to be on clearance, they are worth full price! Love, love, love!
It looks like Patagonia is making its new XL women's gear a bit larger. Overall this will be great. This new LS T is a wool and nylon blend, with wool around 70%. Perfect First (or only) Layer!
I now have 4 of these, 2 short sleeves and 2 long. This is the perfect, not too warm, highly breathable, doesn't get stinky, easily layered piece. Very pretty and useful
I bought an XL because I wanted a loose fit and some room for accidentally shrinking it. The fabric is so lovely it looks great even though it is a little big. I wore this on a weekend to the city- wore it in a bistro and went running later. Layers great with super thin capilene underneath for extra warmth. Havent washed it yet.
I can wear this in both 70 degree weather, then go for a run in the evening at 50 degrees and stay dry. This keeps me the perfect temp all day during the seasons where it is warm during the day and cool at night. Please make more in more neutral colors! White, gray, or beige would be awesome!

Keeps you cool & warm simultaneously
I was hesitant to buy this top because it is a mixture of the capilene and merino wool, but it has performed better than expected. I would love to own more of these shirts, but I can't justify given the price and the fact that the one I do have is disintegrating and I've only owned it for about 5 weeks and run it through a washing machine only once! I really liked this shirt at first, it's lightweight, breathable, soft, and lovely color. I washed/dried it a couple times and now it is way too small. Very lightweight and breathable. The light blue color is extremely sheer and more of a light blue-ish grey. I feel this runs 1-1.5 sizes large. Too loose for my liking, but if I sized down, I'm afraid the arms will be too short for my taste. I wore this while road biking with a vest and I was very comfortable.
