This is my everyday carry and light travel backpack. It will hold whatever is most important and irreplaceable. It is outstanding. I pair this with other Patagonia travel bags, but this one is for the most important stuff.
The Atom Tote 20 L would be excellent for someone needing the removable internal accessory sleeve, which I did not. Got this as a replacement for my old Anacapa 20L that has been long discontinued. Love the extra laptop sleeve with zippered compartment for cords and dongles. Side pockets perfect for water bottles, front zippered compartment holds a lot. Overall very happy.

Small EDC Pack
What you see is what you get with this one. You have to be smart about what you put in the pockets because space is limited and not at all organized. That part is up to you. I like the mesh water bottle holders, but anything smaller than a 32 oz. will sort of float around in them. Compression straps or a draw string would be nice to alleviate that ... Read Moreissue. The grab handle is long and flimsy, and the snap button looks and feels cheap. I would like to see something a little better built, as this backpack is also supposed to function as a tote. Do not buy this bag if you are taller than 5 ft. 8 in. The straps will not work for you.
The Atom Trail Tote is a great all purpose tote. There are enough pockets to evenly distribute the weight of your every day carry items. The detachable sleeve is a great addition and gives you the option to carry either more or less.

Got for day travel/tourism. Works well,size is what I wanted. Two complaints. The outside pockets dont secure a water bottle, they fall out. I had to add a Velcro strap. Second, less important to me, the cross strap is located so that it cuts across my throat if I tried to use it. I want the small size but not straps sized for a child

Perfect size for petites
I love this backpack. Its perfect for my petite frame. Its been a struggle to find a bag that wasnt too big for me since im short but this bag is the best backpack ive ever owned. I got it in black but I cant wait for them to come out with more colors. Patagonia make this in a forest or kelly green next!!!

I put this bag through the wringer on my family vacation! From boats to horses to dune buggys to shoving it in lockers and under air plane seats! Not a sign of wear yet! And passes the personal item test on Frontier! Ill buy more!

Functional, lightweight little pack with good pockets
I got this pack because I wanted something small that could still fit a laptop, with side pockets. This checks those boxes. Somewhere on the Patagonia website there's some guidance regarding day pack capacities/sizes. I read it, and the size chosen turned out perfect for me. And the fabric, construction etc. is superb. I always own my gear for a long time; glad to have this daypack as my little "buddy" for years to come!
Was looking for a tote bag to put laptop plus snacks and other gear at work but could also be used as a backpack. This was one of the only options I could find that fit the bill. Runs slightly small, and wish it had slightly more padding and a few more pockets but otherwise great bag. Fits 14inch MacBook Pro perfectly.
I thought this was designed as a versatile tote and backpack, but the material is awkwardly stiff, despite being nylon or similar.
When a human torso has to conform to a backpack, that's a failed material design.

Great Bag! Almost Perfect.
I love this bag. I carry it everyday. Perfect size. I have a smaller laptop and it fits perfect in this bag the only thing that I wish would change is that the side pockets would be a bit bigger to fit a reusable water bottle better. Thats the only thing the stops me from giving this bag a 5 star rating.
I was looking for a backpack for a long time. With my height I always had to choose if I want one that will fit my corp or if I want a bigger one(that will not fit). With this one I have a perfect fit and plenty of space. The insert for computer is padded enough and conveniently it can be removed and replaced with hydro-sack. There is not much pock... Cons: a few weeks of use and the tote handles at the top have some frayed stitching. Also, personally, I think the logo on the front is a bit disproportional/large for the bag.

Side pockets too small for water/ coffee container. Great colors. Unfortunately whether it was the packaging or bag itself there was a strong odor of perfume or aftershave.

Hi Ecko, the Atom Tote Pack is a unisex pack. It is a compact pack, so it would work best for people with a smaller frame, but it's not a gender-specific design.

Please bring back PAMPAS TAN
Pampas tan needs to be brought back for the restock. It is the best color and sold out very quickly. I want to purchase it so please bring back that color!

Amazing backpack for travel and everyday work essentials
I absolutely love this bag! I use it for everyday use carrying my computer and files around. Recently i used for travel with my kiddo and loved the easy of storage, double mesh water bottle holders and the handy top handle! It made traveling with kiddo solo easier as I could hold her and carry my bag without hitting people on the plane.
I wanted a good commuter bag that could double for hiking and was super lightweight. While my work "laptop" is a surface pro, it's still 7lbs of added weight that can add up with bulkier headphones, Notebooks, and other work related gear. I wanted something that wouldn't add to that weight and the atom bag is perfect for that. I... Read Moret has 2 side pockets for a reusable glass water bottle (sorry haven't tried wider metal bottles) about 2.5-3" in diameter, these also work great with a small foldable umbrella. While it only has one long front pocket, it has a nice matching13" laptop case with a built in front mesh pocket that is perfect for pens and chargers. This has its own laptop divider area and a Velcro "hook" to hold it all in place. All in all its paired down, sleek and sticks to the basics. Perfect if you prefer to not kill your back with tiny pockets that you're bound to over load. Love it! Oh brought it to the drive in too and fit two fleece throw blankets in it plus a trade size book and bug spray. It really can handle a lot! Don't ask my husband though, he wore it during a hike today and I asked him what he thought. He shrugged and said, "idk...it's a bag." Lol!
I actually bought this for my 4'5" seven year old son and am thinking of getting one for myself now (I'm 5'6"). It's so durable and roomy, without being too large, and has great pockets. Of all the backpacks we have in our house across multiple family members, it's easily the best one. Highly recommend!
