This pack is great for all of my gear. The only improvement I would make is perhaps a different zipper or opening profile. It is sometimes difficult to access stuff in the bag.
I purchased this to use for my camera and other items that I wanted to have easy access and stay dry for whitewater rafting. Works perfect, strap down to the frame of the boat and can take off to use as a pack on short hikes. Highly Recommend.
As a fly fishing guide, I use this pack daily in all sorts of conditions. It has remained watertight through snow, sun, rain, hail, mud, stumbles in the river, etc. Well worth the extra price for the watertight submersible bag to save the arsenal of flies I often carry from getting wet and ruined by rust. The zipper is a little tough at first but s... Read Moreeems to "break in" nicely overtime. I would just advise that you pull hard to zip it all the way down and look and ensure that it is completely zipped for the first several uses, otherwise the zipper will stop JUUUST before the watertight end of the zipper, allowing some water in near the bottom of the bag at the zipper's end. The product is great, just user error on my part the first few times!

A hip pack
Good bag. Is waterproof as advertise. Convenient storage organizer. Relatively comfortable to wear. BUT the zipper is tough to open and close. I understand all waterproof zippers are like this, but there is no good handle or way to hold the bag properly to provide functional resistance to make operating the zipper simple. Opening the bag or closing... Read More it requires a good amount of force.
Maybe it will break it with time. Have only used for a few months. It is a good bag other than this one design oversight (in my opinion).
Hi Eric, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. If you ever do experience a failure with the zipper, please feel free to begin a [warranty return or complimentary repair](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html).

Nice bag. Waist runs small
I have an older model that I love but wish it had water bottle holders. This new model has water bottle holders but the waist belt runs small. if you are an xl you will have an issue buckling it , if you are layer up for the cold. Also like the wider straps on older model. But still love the bag
Have not had the opportunity to use the product. I am only writing this review b/c Patagonia has emailed me 3 times to do so. Seems visually constructed well and great warranty.
I love everything about this excerpt that the shoulder strap was too short. Even at it's longest, the bag only came to the middle of my back and nowhere near my hips.

We're sorry that the sizing didn't work for you and we appreciate the feedback for our design team. Thank you for the review, James!

Guide hip Pack
Good quality. I have the backpack and needed something a little less bulky. Works in Salt and fresh water environments. The zippers are awesome and material is rugged. Should be a staple in everyone's quiver.
I just got this as a replacement for my original 10 liter Patagonia Stormfront hip pack. At 9 liters it should only be 10% less voluminous but it feels smaller than that. I have no problems with the zipper mechanism some users dislike. It requires two hands to close/open but it keeps my stuff reliably dry. Just as the two previous generations of th... Read Moreis bag, the quality seems very high. However, as another reviewer has commented, the interior pocket arrangement is not well-designed. The previous design of the interior organizer pocket was much better (easier to open and close, not getting in the way).
I have used this pack sever times for swimming and floating down rivers. It is incredible. Not one drop of water gets inside the pack when fully submersed. Sure the zipper is a little hard to close but no big deal and not too difficult. What else would you expect from a fully waterproof zipper? Thank you Patagonia for revolutionizing my river float... Great pack! I use it mostly for walking to runs. Perfect for carrying extra gear I dont want in my vest while wading and just leaving on the bank while fishing.
4 stars because the belt does slip and loosen after some walking. It feels to be getting better as the webbing softens. I think. Over all, just what I was looking for.
Product is made well and fits well. Looks great. Only issue is that the zipper is very hard to zip open and close. Would suggest a tab or finger loop at either end to hold onto with one hand while the other hand pulls the zipper. Without a grabbing point at the end of Zipper, it is very awkward and difficult to open while standing in water or anywh... Read Moreere while wearing it. Most difficult getting the zipper started at either end since you are pulling up in a vertical direction before you go across.
We appreciate your feedback on all the features of this pack. While the waterproof nature of the zipper is useful, it also may feel difficult to move. We recommend lightly applying a [zipper lubricant](https://www.rei.com/product/152246/gear-aid-zipper-cleaner-lubricant?CAWELAID=120217890006447716&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=100820982696&CATCI=aud-1396942680915:pla-462569364868&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C21700000001700551_1522460001%7C92700053307853702%7CTOF%7C71700000062011430&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhZCVgZ6U-QIVUcLCBB2KEQmDEAQYASABEgJ0Y_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) to that area. Ive used this on a one week bonefish trip so far, and I really like it. It stayed in place, and out of the way while casting and fighting fish. I would appreciate an additional divider, but I will probably add a small zipper pouch to organize smaller items.
Took this to Costa Rica to several tours in rivers and waterfalls. No a single drop or moisture went inside.
Water bottle holds ok, not perfect but ok.
The straps fit good too.
I bought one of these for myself and after using it for a couple of trips, bought one for a good friend. He loves it too. Great pack if you are fishing in conditions when your gear gets wet.
The water proof zipper is hard to close, as a suggestion, have something to hold on to when you zip it up or open. I put some zip ties on it to make it easier to close
Has everything you need and nothing you dont. Love the features (e.g., mess exterior pockets, large main compartment, and interior organizing). The only real downside is the belt, it doesnt feel secure and often slips in tightness when moving the bag around your waist to grab-zip/unzip for items in it. One of the better waterproof bags out there.
The strap is not great- too thin which creates weird pressure points and the cushioned part of the strap is not adjustable. The water bottle holder is worse- barely holds a beer can much less a water bottle of any size. The interior organizer pocket is oddly placed and interferes with storage. Disappointed in the functionality of this bag for fishi... Read Moreng and will be returning it. Had high hopes after using the Stormfront hip pack for years, but this product falls flat for me. Cool color and waterproof zippers are top notch, but thats about it.
