A good bag ruined by a bad strap
All of Patagonia's Black Hole bags and accessories are well made and durable, and this one is no exception. I've had my eye on it for a while since I was looking for a new fanny pack/cross body bag and was super excited to receive it as a gift. However, the strap is much too short (I'm 5'11, 190 lbs w/a 34 inch waist). Since the... Read More strap doesn't detach from the bag, that makes this all but unusable for me. I'm thinking of cutting the strap off and using it as an accessory pouch just so I can get some kind of use out of it. But I'm really disappointed that I can't use it for the purpose I wanted to. Patagonia designers, please consider adding a few inches of strap to this!
Thank you for sharing this feedback, Jay; we suspect a lot of customers would like to be able to wear this pack cross-body and would love a few more inches of strap. We're definitely sharing this suggestion with our design team.

Such a nice bag
I love this bag, very compact and super light. My daily bag

Well made but did not work for me
I bought this for longer runs when I want to carry a few items but it did not work for me and I returned it. The pack flapped around too much and the waist tension loosened in use. For walking or hiking I am sure it would work great.
I'm very pleased with my Mini Hip Pack. It easily holds my wallet, glasses case and keys. It's lightweight and unobtrusive - I hardly know I'm wearing it.
This little Fanny pack was the right size and my son had high hope of using it all summer and in many hikes and trips but unfortunate the seam started to come undone the first few days if use. Will need to get in touch with Patagonia about replacing and hope it was just a fluke.
Hi Sarah! Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We're really sorry to hear the seam started coming undone after a few uses. We'd definitely consider this a warranty issue. We've reached out to you with further assistance.

The perfect travel pack
It's the perfect size for your wallet, phone, and a few other small items. I love it for traveling because I have easy access to everything and I don't have to worry about dropping anything or pickpockets
I wear my mini hip pack everyday for walking, as a shopping wallet, and around the house so I don't misplace my phone or glasses! I bought this new one for a friend who admires mine!
This is my second one and I must say that is the best money spent. A perfect size to carry making accesible what is constantly needed on a hike, climb and every day things. This was a super cute pack I got on sale. I did hope/think it was going to be a bit bigger though. I love how lightweight it is and it can be worn crossbody style which for my 5'2" size works fine. Not sure how that would work on someone taller. But do like the pack.

Small footprint, Big storage
This pack is tiny, yet fits a ton of small gear. Phone, wallet, first aid kit, radio, knives, snacks, etc
I have only used this pack a few times, so far it has held up great! The plan is to wear it during horseback riding so I can keep my essentials with me.
I will edit my review in 6months after its been used all day everyday!
I wanted this bag for the new belt bag trend. The strap all the way out fits me perfectly. It makes quick trips out and about easy without having to carry a purse.
I use it as my everyday purse. It fits all the essentials: keys, wallet, phone, etc. I wear it across my chest when around town. Its also the perfect size for short or long hikes when you want access to chapstick, sunscreen or phone and don't want to take your hydration pack off.
Surprising how much stuff you can pack in here. Nice it can stuff inside itself too. The strap is great to adjust and snap on and off. The design is pretty great, offering organization and simple design with an ease of use. I use them as first aid packs and they're perfect.
I like the multicolored look, and these are so convenient and cute and well priced. ImI like the multicolored look, and these are so convenient and cute and well priced. Im glad that West passed her back. I used to be the only one I knew that would wear them.. Very cute version!
Nice, compact pouch great for phone and keys. Great colors, perfect small gift for people - comes flipped inside out into neat, efficient packaging design.
I bought two. The all black and the yellow/green. Literally perfect little compartments for when I am working out, at an amusement park, or hiking. I highly recommend this product!
Haven't used this yet but the reviewers comments on the size are accurate: it's SMALL. Perfect Waist Pack
This waist pack is ideal for a casual stroll or hike.
Highly recommend.
I have a bunch of slings/waist packs and have been trying to get my wife to try them for a couple years. Finally this Xmas, we went to our local Patagonia store and she loved the Black Hole Mini. Read Moreit longer to allow a crossbody bag; I am not a big person and it doesn't fit over one shoulder without creating an awkward shape. But, it's perfect at doing what it is designed for.
Overall great quality and fit my phone, keys/wallet, and something small like chapstick. The adjustable waist band also made it very easy to maximize comfort and avoid slipping. Make sure you read the dimensions before ordering as it is smaller than others I've seen, but perfect for essentials.
I work with underprivileged people and homeless people. I needed some thing to hold my phone and keys and sunglasses close to me. This fanny pack is just fine for that. I wish it was a tiny bit larger, but until you come out with the little bit larger one, this will do.
I wear this hip pack while xc skiing and it stays put. It can hold a small water bottle and some energy and then some. Its small enough to not be a bother, but can fit a lot.
All of the Black Hole items are great, but I wear this mini hip pack almost daily. It's super light weight so I can wear it when hiking/walking the dog, and even running. It fits my phone and several other necessities. I've purchased as gifts for friends as well. You can't go wrong!
I needed a pack for my phone, wallet and keys when I'm walking the dogs. After working out, Ill go pick up coffee and my workout clothes either have no pockets or very small ones. This pack is perfect for what I need.
I carry an asthma inhaler 24/7. Whenever day hiking, I'm used to stuffing pockets with the inhaler, keys, driver's license, smartphone...the pack is perfect for shorter day hikes, 5 milers when the weather is cool & I don't need to bring H20. Im too chesty to wear this as a sling. The strap is a bit short and is a silky fabric. It requires adjusting frequently. Ive been wearing it around my hips and its been pretty comfortable. I forget Im wearing it. It can also be concealed under a coat or jacket. I actually bought three different colors for variety. I dont miss lugging around unnecessary items or having a strap digging into your shoulder or pulling on your neck. I have long hair. No worries about it getting caught in the strap. I got one for my husband, but he still thinks it looks too much like a purse. Ill continue to try and persuade him. I would definitely recommend this bag being fully aware of the size and strap length.
I love the looks, the color. It feels sturdy and well made. I like the smaller size too, because it's not bulky and I'm able to comfortably fit my phone, wallet, keys, etc. Only thing is, the straps are too short and wearing it as a crossbody bag feels restrictive like it's too close to my head, and worst of all, it's constantly... I got fed up with phone, wallet, keys and more in my pockets. This hip back takes it all and let's me bring it or set it aside in one swoop. Perfect Travel Bag
I bought this pack to carry my phone when Im walking. I will also take it with me when I travel to hold my phone and a small wallet. Its oerfect for carrying the essentials and will not weigh me down.
i have had this bag for only a couple days, but absolutely love it! i was looking for a very small bag, as I don't like the bulky look that a typical crossbody bag has, plus I don't really need much space as I don't have much to put in it, and this is perfect! i put my wallet, keys, chapstick, earbuds, and whatever other smaller thin... Read Moregs in there, and it still has lots of room. i am 5 feet and a pretty small framed woman, so the strap length is fine for me as a crossbody, but I can definitely see how if you're even a little bigger than me, it would be a tight fit (as many of the other reviews have mentioned). i also agreed with reviewers that because the straps are that "shiny" type nylon material, they do not stay put at the length you set them at, and instead slide all the way to the end of the buckle. other than that though, the colors are super cute, its very practical and minimalistic for a nice little purse type bag, and fits me well!
My vacations are almost workouts because Im on the move so much. This is lightweight and holds everything I need: phone, ID, and even a mask or two during Covid. It is the perfect travel companion.
Like the elegant design, practicality, light weight. Wife and I both use them daily. Ive added a small ring to the outside hook, easier to attach/remove keys. Recommend
I like this hip pack a lot - the material, size, and compartments. However, I like to move the hip pack from my front (when I reach inside) to my back (when I am running), and I have found that the straps come loose or are clumsy for this process as compared to other hip packs that hold the strap length better by threading the strap over itself in ... Great little pack
I am really enjoying the ultralight black hole mini hip pack. No more bulging pockets with keys, phone, wallet, etc... Highly recommend.
I do wish there was a little bit more padding at the buckles as it does rub a bit, but a very minor detail in the overall function of the pack.
The small size and light weight is good for a day of sight seeing while traveling; holding basic minimal amount of items. The size of the pack is easily hidden under waist length tops if you want.
However the waist strap tails do not stay in place as the loop slides around. Fix that and it goes from good to very good.
This is my go to for a quick hike, run, or workout. Hold's all my essential's key's, phone, granola bars, etc. It's perfect for camping, on the go hike's and activities, if you don't want to go back to camp so much!
I wore this on vacation and it was the perfect size. It fit everything i needed (phone, wallet, sunglasses, etc) as well as some stuff for other people. Two people I was with loved it so much they said they were going to get their own!
I was looking for something small and lightweight that I can take hiking and traveling to carry the basics, wallet, phone, chapstick etc. This works perfect for a short walk or hike or as a simple substitute for a purse when you don't need all the extra and want to free your hand, plus it's cute!
I had been searching and was glad to find this small hip pack. It is big enough for phone, wallet, keys, chapstick, sunglasses. Good secure strap. I hope it will be shower resistant, tho it would be easy to hide it under a rain jacket. Also useful for quick trips in town, slung over shoulder. Pleased with this purchase.
The strap would not extend enough for me to wear this as a cross body. I gave it to my 13 yo daughter and it is a bit small on her. Quality is great! And the size of the compartment was just what I was looking for, just needed to be able to extend the strap more.

Sleek design
I was looking for something medium sized and low-profile to wear with athletic attire. I like my pockets to be empty. The sleek design and most importantly the ease of opening and closing the zippers with one hand has made this product my #1 choice.
Pros:
.Light. Super light
.packs small af
.well constructed
.convenient clip-on
Cons:
.hard to say b/c its as advertised. I use it as a day trip baggy to put a few necessary items and go. Could even use when I go bike riding.
..if I MUST write a bad thing it would be to improve the plastic clip cuz it feels cheap?
I wanted a waist pack that was not too big, not too small, but just right to hold essentials: keys and critical cards in front pocket, then phone, pen, a few bills, and a hankie in the main pocket. Nothing more. It's perfect. I put it on in morning and take it off at night - that perfect!

Short strap
The size of the bag was what I wanted, but the waist strap is way too short- I think I measured a total length of 34 inches. I like to wear as a cross body- it was practically under my chin. I am a full sized gal- forget about wearing around my hips! Too bad, because they are cute bags. Sent it back.

Great size for around town or short hikes. Fits wallet, phone, keys, sunscreen, and some nutrition just fine. Perfect for those times you could do a hike with your pockets fully loaded..or just wear this!

The mini pack is just the right size for carrying my cell phone and wallet. Its light weight and can easily be worn as either a waist pack or sling. Great product, if you are traveling light.
I love this!
It's very light weight, you just don't feel it when you're wearing it AND it holds my phone safely while I work on farm plus some extra little thing, keys erc. Great
Compact, functional Ultralight Black Hole Mini Hip pack
I purchased the Ultralight Black Hole Mini Hip pack to use when I do landscape maintenance. It is compact but the 2 zippered pockets provide ample space for my cell phone & some other essential items to have close at hand throughout the day. A single webbed, adjustable strap with a clip buckle can be worn over the shoulder and across the back o... Read Morer around the waist. Either use does not get in the way as I work. I chose the golden brown color. I recommend this item.
Love this mini hip pack. Lightweight, not bulky, and I like the colors. Carry dog treats in small front pocket, my phone in larger pocket. Just bought a second one to give as a gift.
These hip packs are oh-so-packable but can also pack a decent amount of things in it. I put my phone, headphones, sunglasses, keys, cards/license, and a snack in this quite easily. Makes for an easy pack to wear while going on casual runs and for short hikes.
I got this for my shorter hiking trips that I don't need to carry my daypack. It was able to fit my phone, keys, sunglasses, and still some room to carry a light snack. 10/10 would recommend
I love this little pack! It's great for wearing around town when you don't want to lug a purse around, and it just as easily works on a trail. I'd recommend this piece to anyone looking for a small, lightweight bag option that isn't too bulky but holds a lot.
I purchased this for a recent road trip to various cities so I wouldn't have to tote my large purse around. I was looking for something just big enough to old essentials without being large & bulky. This one fit the bill and I am now a fanny pack convert! The small exterior pocket was a perfect place to keep my wallet & hotel room key ... Read Moresince it could be clipped in and I didn't have to worry about it falling out. The bigger main compartment was large enough to hold my cell phone, chapstick, readers/sunglasses, snack, tissues, and other random stuff and it never seemed full. Since returning from our trip I have also used it at the gym. I can see this being useful when hiking/backpacking since some of our older packs don't have hip belts. I'm pretty sure I'll find more reasons to use this in the future.
I like this bag but don't understand the benefit to the strap design - when I have the strap fully extended and wear it as a crossbody bag there is no issue - but when I want to wear it at my waist with the straps tight they need to be placed back into the elastic whenever I adjust the placement of the bag.
We're truly sorry to hear of your frustration with our Ultralight Black Hole Mini Hip Pack 1L straps. We have gone ahead and passed your thoughts along to our Design Team. Thank you so much for your feedback.

Essential Carry
Perfect for the phone and a snack at work.
A small pack thats the perfect fit for work.
I bought this bag to duplicate one i already have. Wanted a different color. The color was good. But this bag is a newer model. I was a little sad as the strap is kind of shimmery silky which i didnt like. It is also 2 shorter which was sad as i use this cross body and its a little snug. It is also minus an inner zippered pocket. All in all. Its fi... Read Morene and i would recommend it but i think the improvements were not beneficial. I will still use it every day. Thx.
Purchased this bag mainly for travel as I'm responsible for four passports and corresponding boarding passes and what not! Fits everything I need and more, despite it's size!! Great pack!
I do a lot of city and town walking and was looking for something smaller than my 8L Atom sling. This is perfect for the bare essentials A wallet, phone, and keys is about all it holds. Not even big enough to add my eyeglasses case.. But for a long walk when you want dont want to be tied down with a larger bag its fantastic. Love the interior key c... Read Morelip. Wish the Atom sling had that also.
I always deny and say it sits on the hip but it's still a fanny pack. Great little pack for dog walking, short hikes or rides. New version is missing the previous small zip pocket inside main compartment which I used for key fob/IDs keeping separate from outside pocket for crumbly dog treats. Perfect for phone, keys and other small light items... Read More.
I bought this bag to use while walking my puppy and it's perfect! As the weather is getting warmer I don't always wear a coat and without pockets had no place to put my phone, treats, poop bags, etc. This fits everything I need, is comfortable to wear, and is lightweight.
I use this every week in both work and my off-time. The outside pocket is flat, but has a clip for a key and can also fit multiple IDs/Cards. The main pocket can fit most other things including and iPhone and Wallet. For forest service/military, the main pocket cannot fit a Glock 19, but could fit a Glock 43.
I love these little hip packs - these are perfect for short hikes or outings to the farmer's market. Fits my cell phone, keys and wallet without encumbering you with "stuff".
I use this regularly as a minimalist hiking bag. It holds snacks, phone, lifestraw water filter, and car keys. With women's clothes, you can't count on pockets, and this solves that remarkably. If you plan to carry water, this isn't the bag for you.
For wilderness backpacking, I use this as a daytime bag so I can get to everything e... Read Moreven when I take my pack off. Cards, cash, and car key go in the front pocket, and snacks/bars, pocket knife, phone, and blister tapes in the main compartment.
The item is very small, description didnt really inform about size, thought it would be bigger and kept the item to avoid the hassle of shipping it back. Its small meant for only couple items. Very compact and small.

Mini in the title for a reason
I really like this mini hip pack. I just wish they had an extender strap available. If you are on the bigger side or just large in general I would definitely opt to go to a store that has this to try on. It looks fine on the images that are provided but it def runs small. If there was an extender available I would rate this a 5. It holds everything... Read More well of mine. My phone, wallet, and keys.
I have a toddler and needed something to put my phone, keys, earbuds and maybe a little extra while we get into our adventures. This is perfect size, easy to clean, and does its job!
My family loves this product. We put one on each of our kids and load them up with snacks for all our hikes, backpacking, flights, day trips, and everything else. Love it!
