This sweater is versatile for casual wear or work. I wear a silk liner under it and there is zero itch. Its super warm but breathes well. The fit is flattering.
The weight of this sweater (I purchased Lagom Blue) is perfect for a mid-layer: not too light, not too heavy/bulky. Size S sweater fits perfectly under my size S jackets. Very warm and cozy. I could wear alone on a mild winter day if I was active. Fit is perfect for me. Plenty of room to layer. I'm 5'4" and 120 lbs.
I'm pleased with my purchase.
At first when I bought this sweater I bought it in a size medium and it was a bit too large and just didn't love it (I'm 5'7" and 130 lb). I eventually traded it in for a size small and this has become my absolute favorite sweater. I bought it in another color too. The sweater has a great loose fit but still very shapely and I l... Great 3 seasons sweater. It is a little cumbersome to wash by hand but I wear it many times first (always with a t-shirt underneath) and it doesn't require washing much because it's wool.
Hey Ellie, thank you so much for following up now that you've found the right size. We're so glad you're so happy with your sweater! Please feel free to reach out to us if we can be of any help at all!

Surprisingly Comfortable Wool Sweater
I was prepared to be annoyed with the wool content in this sweater. At some point, folks complain about wool sweaters being itchy. Yes, I do wear a long-sleeve shirt underneath. Yes, I would not want it next to my bare skin for any length of time. But, it is very warm without the weight. The cut is stylishly boxy. Nicely oversized. The quality of t... Read Morehe wool is first-rate. It leaves my closet on a daily basis for just about everything from work to a walk on a cold day.
Thick, high quality wool & beautiful retro knitting.
I'm in love with my retro gray and green, alpine design sweater. The small and extra small were too tight for me so I opted for a medium, which is probably too slouchy for most people but I like it for my casual wear. Get the small if you want to use it as an inside layer. I'm 61, 5'2" and 115 lbs. Wearing this brings me back to... Read More the '70s and '80s and it's a good thing. Bought this mostly for the recycled wool, but very happy with the fit, color and quality. I wear US 18 or 20, so was thrilled that the XL fit at all. The cut is generous enough to wear over long sleeves without being too big to wear under a coat. The arm length is excellent for my longer arms. The sweater hits mid-hip on me. I got the green and cre... Read Moream pattern and it is a very nice color, very true to the pictures. The cut is boxy, but that works for me. This is a good one. I feel like I wont need to buy a winter sweater again for awhile.
I have been wearing this sweater non stop this winter. Around the house, around the ski cabin, under a shell on a walk, it has made its way out and about with me. I have a the patterned natural sapling color and enjoy the diversity it brings to my generally solid color sweater line up. I would say it is slightly more boxy, rather than a slim fittin... Read Moreg sweater, which I understood when I bought it based upon reviews by others. As expected, it wasn't overly boxy for my expectations, but rather met the idea of a comfy, not tight/slim fitting and also not overly big and loose. It is more standard wool, with slight scratchy feel than the recycled cashmere (which I also love), but nothing a shirt beneath doesn't handle. Love it so far.
Overall a nice sweater. I got the patterned one and it was nice and thick and warm, though a tad itchy. I originally bought the XS (my usual size in Patagonia) and it was a smidge too tight in the shoulders/arms. Ordered in the S and found it to fit better in the shoulder and arms, but too wide in the torso (but about the same short length as the X... Read MoreS). Overall, I was not a fan of the boxy torso fit but tight arms/shoulder, and the itchiness. I ended up returning.
To me, this is the perfect, classic wool sweater. I ordered a large which is a bit baggy on my frame (curvy). I wear it under my ski shell jacket (Patagonia Triolet) and it keeps me toasty. It is an ideal fit and just wooly enough to remind you that our ancestors were on the right track when they domesticated sheep.
Its wool so it is little scratchy. An undershirt is a must. But so warm and comfy. I can see this being a go to for cool outdoor activities for years to come. Originally got a medium but my DD did not fit so I sized up.
The yarn is lovely, it's super thick and warm and the pattern is great, but the cut for me was just way too boxy. Boxy is cute, but this was too wide and fit really weird when I moved around. I'm on the slim side with broad shoulders and have trouble fitting Patagonia women's stuff - such a bummer. Returning.
Thank you so much for writing this review Mila! We would also like to extend our sincere apologies to hear that this purchase led to a return due to the fit being too boxy. Please rest assured that we will be passing along this feedback to our Product Designers so they can take a deeper look into the fit of this product.

So great
I can wear it teaching without an under shirt and it doesn't itch and its not too warm. I can wear it outside in the cold with an undershirt and it keeps me so warm! I love the fit- its very cute and flattering.
I bought the blue-green patterned colorway (on a cream background) after seeing it in store. The weight and warmth are a little extra, which is exactly what I was looking for. The fit is slightly cropped; I sized up from a M to a L so I could layer underneath, and that helped me get a little bit more length in the torso. This is my first recycled w... perfect classic wool sweater!
This sweater has the perfect classic crewneck fit that is somehow so hard to find these days. Great layering sweater!
Love this sweater (although my dog managed to snag it with his claws ). It is perfect to wear when there is a chill in the air, but it is also very lightweight.
Wonderful old-school wool sweater that is actually hard to find these days. People have gotten away from wearing wool sweaters in favor of synthetic fleece and it's a shame. Very Versatile
This sweater is a classic. Everyone needs one. It's warm but not hot. Great with a underlayer and pretty much goes with everything. Can be worn casual or dressed up. It is classic pullover fit. This a great sweater that seems like a timeless piece. It's warm and fits well. Need to wear a shirt underneath as it is wool but that is to be expected. Happy about this purchase.
I wish wish wish this had fit. I know u would have worn out all the time. Unfortunately, it was so dang short on the body that it could have been midfriff if I'd washed it.
I wear this sweater all the time. It's very warm and the fit is great, not too bulky and easy to wear under vests and jackets without feeling bulky or weighed down.
I ordered the XL because I wanted it roomy and it is. The wool is a little scratchy but maybe with washing it will soften up. Great color good for cold days.

For me, this is a great wool piece. It's quite a lightweight weave which I like, I have other wool sweaters that are heavier if I want the extra bulk/warmth. Warm and Cozy
I love the recycled wool sweater that I bought, with the pattern around the top. Its a heavy weight, which feels like Im wearing two sweaters, which help me a lot because at my age I get cold very often. Also, it is gray and that is my favorite color.
I'm 5'3", 128 lbs and got the medium. It fits a little looser than I though it would, but I'm happy with it. I think a small would fit me just fine too, just more form fitting. Its super cute and fits nice and light yet warm. Ive had it for less than a month and it already looks worn out, peeling and looks like I may be getting holes in the pit area. Its disappointing considering how much it costs.

Just okay
I purchased the brown and the cable pattern is pretty. I usually like to wear my sweaters oversized and wear an M in Patagonia but this material was too thin to have a cute chunky oversized look so it just looked large and shapeless on me. I wanted to love this so badly because the fit, style, and brown color are all perfect, however, it is EXTREMELY itchy. I tried it on and wore it for about 4 minutes before I had to take it off. 1/5 for the fabric. I was expecting more from Patagonia. I am not at all sensitive to natural fibers, but this sweater was incredibly itchy and irritating just while trying it on. Not soft at all. I wouldn't have made it through the day with any of my skin exposed to the fabric.
I've had this issue with Patagonia wool in the recent past as well. I was really hoping to switch to Patagonia over mall brands for my casual sweaters, but I guess I've learned my lesson to avoid Patagonia wool for the foreseeable future.
