Too thin and color not as vibrant than the photo
The shirt is very thin and lacks any kind of weight and therefore wrinkles easily. The colors are dull and it runs a little slim cut.

Thank you for this review, Shirin. We're sorry to hear this lightweight shirt wasn't quite what you were looking for, and that the color (Jellyfish Flower: Birch White) wasn't what you were expecting. We wouldn't want you to hang on to something you wouldn't be happy with, so thank you for sending it back. We hope we can help you find something that will better meet your needs!
The fabric is too thin
The fabric is too thin for my taste. It would work in a tropical climate, but for most of the mainland its a bit fragile.

We're sorry to hear this one was disappointing. You might prefer our regular fit [Pataloha Shirt](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-pataloha-shirt/52566.html) with a 3.7-ounce organic cotton dobby weave fabric. Please reach out to our Customer Service team if you'd like any assistance to return or exchange. Thanks for your review, Thomas!
Misses the mark 4 me
The review may be a bit low. Its not a bad shirt. Its nice and light weight but almost feels simply like a cheap shirt to me. I brought it along on a tropical vacation and didnt try it in b4 leaving. While my other Patagonia shirts of the same size fit great this did not. Was a waste of suitcase space for me as it was never actually worn. Maybe I c... I love the Pataloha line of shirts and was excited to see them back. I like this particular version because it is lightweight and ideal for the hot and humid summers that I experience where I live. I am on the chunkier side, but even with that the medium is a comfortable fit.
I was excited to receive this shirt in time for a weekend event...so much so that I paid extra for express shipping to get the shirt in time. I was really disappointed in the quality of the fabric. So much so that I will be sending it back before the weekend event. I expected so much more at this price point. Note: I ordered this shirt knowing th... Had to exchange for larger size
I bought the shirt the day I heard Yvon Chouinard will donate the company to fight climate change. A very small contributing gesture on my part, I know. (Too small, had to exchange. Replacement shipped today.) I have other Patagonia items. All WAY GREAT!
i order my shirt large
i order my shirt large and it feels size small which is why I had to exchange for 2xl . The size 2xl fits me well around the arms and chest. It feels perfect. only problem is to baggy now at the bottom.

Thank you so much for writing this review, Milton! The reason this shirt may not fit exactly like the size you purchased is because this is a "slim fit" shirt. If you'd prefer something not so tight and small, we would recommend checking out our "regular fit" [Pataloha Shirt](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-pataloha-shirt/52566.html?dwvar_52566_color=PATS&cgid=root)!
This is my new favorite
This is my new favorite short sleeve shirt. Its extremely light & comfortable and the theme is pretty cool too. Its the perfect shirt for an evening out at the pub, or challenging your friends to an epic corn hole tournament. The dark ink is great vibe.
Surprised by the size
I own many Patagonia shirts of this style. I have been ordering them for years. XXL always fits me. The one I received was too short and very tight. It made me wonder if it was mislabeled. Too bad. I really liked the shirt, nice color and materials. I returned it (easy to do).

Hi Sean! Thank you so much for writing this review. It's possible that this shirt may have been a bit smaller due to the fit. This specific Pataloha shirt is a slim fit so it will be a little tighter in all areas. With that said, we are very sorry this purchase led to a return. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our [Customer Service](https://help.patagonia.com/s/?_gl=1*10ijqyv*_ga*MTQ5ODEyNDA3OS4xNjUyMjExNDc2*_ga_1SYPSJZYJ5*MTY2NTAxNDk0OC44NC4wLjE2NjUwMTQ5NTEuMC4wLjA.) at any time!
Nice fabric. Shirt packed in small plastic bag. Could not wear without first ironing, even after letting it hang for several days. The ironing requirement takes the joy out of new shirt.

We're sorry to hear about the wrinkles. For our 100% organic cotton Malihini Shirt, we recommend machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Hang to let air dry naturally for best results but tumble dry on low heat and/or warm iron if necessary. We hope these product care tips help. You may also wish to take a look at our [Men's Go To Shirt](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-go-to-shirt/52691.html) which has a fabric blend of cotton and polyester. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Service team if you have any additional questions or concerns!
loved the shirt, but I range between a L and XL depending on the shirt. I order in XL and it was tight across the chest unfortunately. I have several 'older' malahini Patagonia shirts in XL and they all fit. These the dimensions seemed to have changed slightly.....or I have....but my other Patagonia Malahini shirts fit fine.....nice shirt... Read More, but tight across the chest for the sizing (XL 46")

Uncomfortable see through cloth
I own a few Pataloha shirts. This year's shirt is the worst I've seen. The cloth is practically see through, it's scratchy on the skin, and won't survive many wash-wear cycles. Actually, I'm shocked that this shirt made the cut at Patagonia. I'm returning both of the shirts I bought. I recommend returning to the soft, ... Hey Christopher, we're sorry to hear that it didn't work out with this shirt and we're grateful for the feedback. We'll make sure our product team is aware of the points you've made in your review. With that said, this shirt was designed to be a lightweight option to our regular Patahola shirt. You can find the regular Men's Pataloha Shirt [here](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-pataloha-shirt/52566.html?dwvar_52566_color=PATS&cgid=root).
Very Feather Weight Fabric
I own and treasure several Pataloha shirts that I bought over the past 10 years ago and was excited that there were new offerings. I ended up buying three Malihini shirts. The designs/patterns and fit are great. The fabric is very feather-weight, much more than I expected. Makes me worried about how it will hold up to use and washing.
Response from PatagoniaSeptember 9, 2022
Thank you for sharing this review. George. For this type of shirt we recommend machine washing on Cold, no bleach, and tumbling dry on Low. Warm iron if needed. If you follow these steps and the fabric doesn't hold up, please get in touch with us about returning it.
Way Too Small
I've worn Patagonia shirts for 35 years, always a medium. I could barely button this shirt. Why would there ever be a 'slim fit' Hawaiian shirt? They're supposed to be loose-fitting. Waiting now for a large.

Hyped but going to have to tailor
Shirt is epic. Shirts in the past have been more slim fit though. I will just have to find a tailor and tighten it up around the belly area. Other than that! I’m a happy camper. I have a blue one with fish on it that line up at all the seams from 2-3 years back that is my all time favorite...it is already tailored as a slim fit and still waiting ... Perhaps the coolest, most beautiful shirt I've ever bought, and it fits perfectly! Cut is on the slim side, but just right (just the right length, and not tight in the shoulders). Malihini is the real Go To!
I own 3 of these and fully concur with others' comments about the superlative feel/weight of the fabric and the excellent fit. That pattern screams "tropical " but is subtle and calming, would make a smashing Malihini and I bet would sell like hotcakes!
My favorite shirt
I’ve accumulated 15 or so Pataloha shirts over the years and my Malihini‘s are easily my favorites. The material, style, and fit are all spot on. I often find regular fit Patagonia tops a bit too baggy, so the slimmer Malihini‘s are perfect for me. I wear them all the time, from work to a night out. This is a perfect Hawaiian shirt if you're into the more modern (not sure if that's the right word) style shirt. The other Pataloha shirts have flat collars and no top button. Super lightweight and soft,as well
First one of these shirts, and the fabric is both lighter weight and softer on the skin than I had expected. perect for warm weather strollong and hanging out,as well as travel. Ok,here's the deal,I retired 82 days ago. The comfort and lightness of this shirt helped me (mentally) make it on thru to the otherside,(retirement) side.
