I am finally leaving a review on these since I now own 3. They are super comfortable and I think they have a few unique color patterns that I get complimented on. The large fits well with sleeves but it is pretty long on the torso. The quality seems top notch. The original 2 I got for myself Dec 2018 still look like brand new even though they get worn regularly. They are fairly warm. I went ATV riding in October in Northern Pennsylvania and a sweatshirt plus this underneath was more than enough for a mid 50 degree ride. Price is a little high but if they continue to hold up like they have it seems like it will have been worth the price.

Size is relative, but not baggy.
Reading the reviews its hard to tell if this is too baggy or slim. Pat's fit chart put it on the extreme end and call it "relaxed". A 15 year old or a hipster walking in Brooklyn might agree. But for older persons, or for those who want to be able to lift their arms with out the buttons popping, this seems on the slim side (especiall... Read Morey since they call it relaxed fit). A "slim fit" , even a "regular fit" version would be nonfunctional. I'm fairly trim and the medium was hugging my chest and abdomen. (6 ft, 160). The large seemed perfect for me and my activity; maybe 1 inch long in sleeves (felt like a medium-large; not as large as some brands). So all of this is relative to what you like, or what Pat calls the "fit". But it is not baggy like some say. Some variation is expected- sadly manufactured in China. So, if your a hipster in Oakland wearing pants you can barely sit in, this may not be the shirt for you. For the rest of us, "rock" on.
Best feel, best comfort... really hard to beat these. My collection is up to 7 different colors/styles of these shirts, with a few duplicate purchases to store in the archive and bust out years down the road. "Regular fit" runs a bit large, so one might want to size down depending on preferences.

It's my 8th one. I feel the need to tell everyone close to me that these are the best flannel shirts money can but. I'm 5'11" 185 and the medium fits like a gloves. Sometimes I wish the colors were a little different but the cut and materials are an absolute home run.

Thick and cozy. Bought the Oak Brown. A lot of yellow in that brown makes it quite mustardy. I would've rolled with it but the medium ran way too big. It's bigger than all the larges in my closet. Of course the small is permanently out of stock so I won't be able to compare sizes.

This is the best purchase I've made this winter. I like the roominess...it makes for a very comfortable winter shirt. If I want to be a little warmer, the fit is right for wearing a long sleeved t shirt underneath. The fabric is nice and soft. I really can't say enough about it. I will probably order another very soon.
Great shirt,sleeves short
Bought this for my husband,he's 6' 155lbs,a small fits him well except for the sleeves which are too short. A medium would be huge on him,so he just rolls the sleeves up. Not ideal, but otherwise he loves the shirt. It's a great layer over capilene and under a coat.

ive been in flannels my whole life and this one takes the cake by far. have had it for a little more than a year, no flaws. it can withstand my abuse in the backwoods, used it as a hot plate multiple times (still soft as the day i bought it), chest pockets can hold a beer while hands are busy telling an awesome story or jamming on the 6 string and ... Like an old friend!
Purchased this shirt in size small as Patagonia shirts are being cut large these days. Normally wear a medium. Fits great and feels like a well-worn warm flannel should right off the bat. This will become a favored wardrobe staple. Order one size down unless you prefer oversize shirts. Silt color is very cool.
Favorite shirt to date!
My favorite shirt that I have purchased from Patagonia to date. I am 6' 180 pounds, and I usually buy medium shirts through Patagonia. But when I got this shirt in medium it was like I was putting on one of my wife's shirts! So I went up to a large and I am extremely happy. I got the comstock heritage color(side note, you could hide in pl... Read Moreain site with this color!)
I have not worn the shirt much yet as it is mid Sept and not that cool yet. When I have its is soft and built to last, I have not seen a flannel this beefy ever. I like it so much I'm gonna buy another one. Can't wait for cooler nights and eventually snowy days! I'll give it 5 stars when its made in the USA!
Favorite Patagonia Shirt Ever
Fantastic shirt that is tough as nails. It holds up well in the PNW rain. I have a couple of these and one has shrunk quite a bit more than the other. The shirt is long enough to tuck in but not so long that it looks silly untucked. Placing my order for 2 more today!
Great Flannel Shirt
I like everything about this shirt. It can be worn tucked in or out. It's made from a soft and thick flannel that is warm, but not hot. Like all of the Patagonia products I have ever bought, the design is functional and the craftsmanship is excellent. The Medium fit is true and shrinkage is minimal.
Last Year Was Better
Like others have mentioned, the sizing was much better last year. I bought 3 of these shirts last winter and basically lived in them through the fall/winter/spring. This year, I was looking forward to buying 3 more. I had read online that the cut/sizing of the shirt had changed so I decided to purchase 1 shirt and make sure it fit properly before b... Read Moreuying additional. I'm 6ft 1in/195 lbs and last year a M fit perfect. This year, due to changes in sizing I decided a L was needed for sleeve length. Unfortunately, so much fabric was added through the chest area that the L is way too big. I really wish Patagonia would have kept the same measurements as last year....alas, I will not be ordering any more Fjord flannels this year as the sizing is just too "off"
Poor cut/size. Would fit an onion well
I love the "heft" and weight of this shirt, the style is great. What I can't figure out is the fit. I'm 6'5 and around 225. In XL this shirt's torso seems cut for someone 30-40 pounds heavier in the gut. The sleeves are 2-3 inches too short. I wish Patagonia would realize that tall people aren't generally fat. A l... Read Moreine of long or tall sizes would be ideal so that I could buy Larges instead of XLarges, but then the sleeves would really be too short. Sadly, I've given up on Patagonia sportswear. I know you can't please everyone, but they don't really even seem to be trying.
I hadn't worn a flannel shirt in almost a decade, but I'm making up for lost time with this one. Thick, but not too thick, and so very soft, it's become an essential component of my fall uniform. Patagonia sizing, with their various fits, can be a little tricky, but at 5'10" 150, the Small fits me perfectly. Typical excelle... Best Flannel Ever!
Ive been wearing flannel for close to 48 years now and these shirts are the most comfortable and durable I have ever owned. I have 6 of 'em in the closet and highly recommend them. As usual with Patagonia, they are more expensive up front, but last longer and work better in the long run which makes them a great value.
Super tuff awesome torso cover
A quality garment made of real flannel for you folks in the NW, or other fellers in a climate that calls for something warm and durable. I'm 5'-9" tall / 165lbs wet and the medium size fits darn good without being weird boxy baggy (short wide) and not to slim to show when I've consumed to many sandwiches.
I tried this shirt on last year and found the arms to be too long and the overall fit just kind of loose. This year, it fits me perfectly. I'm 6', 165 lbs, and I went with a small. It's soft, plenty warm, and has a cool style. Highly recommend it, but try it on first to make sure you get the right fit.
Arms too short, or body too baggy, take your pick.
I can't understand why Patagonia designs their long-sleeved shirts for heavy, shorter-armed people? After missing out on this shirt last year, I went down to the local Patagonia Store to check out the new arrivals. Last year a small in this shirt fit perfect (accounting for shrinkage, which the sales people have told me this shirt is very pro... Read Morene to). This year a Medium fit perfect on, but before washing. So I size up to a Large and it's enormous in the body, baggy in the arms, but at least right in arm length. My point is that I'm a pretty average sized Patagoniac (taller, athletic, i.e. active and not overweight), so why do they make all their casual clothes so baggy? It's not environmentally friendly to waste all that extra fabric! If they would just make the arms longer at least we could have the option of buying a size down if we wanted. I'm really disappointed I won't get to buy and wear this shirt this year. Even multiple Patagonia store employees have commented to me how unnecessarily baggy many of their clothes are. I tried the Pima Shirt and it's the same giant/sloppy thing, unless I size down to where the arms are tiny. I never write reviews for things I haven't purchased but feel this needs to be said and addressed.
I love the Fjord flannel shirt but the sizing style adopted last year is less than desirable! If you are like me and have to have them go to a store to try one on. The large(size I have ordered for years) I bought last year wore like a tent and the sleeves and hem were around my knees! This year I got a medium on-line and while the length is fine I... Poor sizing, thin material
Pretty disappointed. Sizing is bizarre, too baggy and long. Flannel material seems thin. Have to see how it wears, if I ever wear it. Don't care for the fit all that much. First Patagonia item I've purchased that I do not like. Bummer, but a first time for everything, right??
