Sturdy and well made

Got these for casual hiking and yard work. I have plenty of thin tech fabric hiking pants but wanted something a little thicker and more rugged, that would also be suitable for yard work in the fall. These are a good length on me (I usually look for a 31 or 32 inseam) and they fit well. Plenty of freedom of movement. The back waist adjustment is ha... Roomy- the back buckle is great for adjusting the waist.

Great Work Pants

These are great pants- they are nice and thick while still flexible due to being hemp. Much more flattering than other work pant styles. I like the lower back buckle for tightening the waist up a little bit also. I can even squeeze a pair of base layer underneath, which is great for Alaska fall/winter.

Love the material, not the cinch on the back

These pants are very comfy and I like the large front and back pockets. I do wish there were side pockets, and I don't like the metal buckle on the back. It digs into my spine, especially when driving.

Good pants, buckle broke within months

Decided on the tan color because the fit was different than the black, oddly. Good pants and the material is great. Great, but way too big

The quality of these pants is amazing, and the design is so cute but the waist was huuuge, like wider than the hips!! Based on other reviews of these running small I sized up to a 6. The legs fit great, but then the waist had a gap of about 3" (and I don't even have a super tiny waist or anything). When tightened with the strap they just ... Love the fabric and style.

It is soft and broken in, comfy right away. The fit through the waist is roomier than the Trip Pants. Perhaps they are styled to sit lower on the hips, not at the natural waist? I would recommend this product

I would recommend this product to a friend depending on their needs. I like the fit and the quality, but I do not care for some of the features of the pants. This is the best pants for working outdoors or hiking around! We have acreage and I live in these for all the work outdoors. They are comfortable, warm, and so tough. Adding more of these to my xmas wishlist :)

Love these pants!

I basically never want to wear any other pants again. I bought another pair in black so I could wear one pair while I wash the other pair. They are comfortable, practical, and durable. I bought a size up and am glad I did. I'm 5'7" and 150 lbs, and a 10 regular is great.

Flattering and tough

Like the fit and comfort, but features need improvement

I purchased two pairs over a year ago. I love the fit of these pants, satisfied with the durability, knee pad pockets and comfort, but disappointed in the practicality of the design. The cinch strap seems to be an added feature that is worthless. The cinch strap regularly loosens up and on one of my pairs the clamp broke in the first month. I just... Read More decided to cut the strap off and continue wearing the pants. Then the other pair the metal part of the clamp broke about a month ago. So, again I just did the same thing and cut it off. The second feature that I am disappointed in is the lack of the 5th pocket the side of the thigh. The fifth pocket is where I would normally carry my cell phone. This pocket seems to get the less abuse/exposure to hazards at work and is more secure than the other pocket locations. The other 4 pockets designs are excellent design and I love them, but for my line of work I am climbing over logs, guardrail, up and down steep hills and I find my self pivoting and scooting on my butt a bunch. The the rear pockets are not great for my phone. If I put my phone and certain tools in the front pockets it restricts mobility and when I carry heavy objects they rest in the location of the front pockets. Plus when you have to use the restroom, the phone needs to be removed from the back pocket so it does plop somewhere it shouldn't. I am going to try out the all season hemp pants, but the button and split in the pant leg looks like a dangerous catching/tripping hazard unless you have it tucked into tall boots. I am hoping with a few design tweaks, these pants will become far superior to other brands and well worth the price.

I I love these pants because I like the fit and the already broken-in feel. I like that they are not high waisted. I expect they will last a long time.

Heavy but tough pant

I purchased these pants for work on my farm. They are heavier than a Carhartt, and the fabric seems tougher too. After moving 4 ton of hay, there was little wear on the double front. Fit everywhere except waist

I had high hopes for these pants for working in the garden and vineyard. they fit well everywhere, with room to move, except the waist band. It had no stretch. Good work pants

I have worked in these pants for two years and I recently purchased a second pair. I recommend them to my friends often, because they are functional and make my butt look phat.

Great quality fabric, need to improve pockets

I love these pants for the tough fabric and quality construction. I clean chimneys for a living and my work clothing must hold up to rugged wear and lots of washings. Nearly perfect

I like many aspects of these pants- they are sturdy fabric, feel nice against the skin (ever so slightly scratchy, but not enough for me to notice for more than a minute after I put them on), move nicely when walking. I love the color, and their sustainability. I am about 5'5 and 120 pounds. I am a solid size 2, and usually fit into regular ... Read Morelength jeans but some brands I need to get their short length. I prefer more fitted pants with some stretch- baggy fabric makes me cranky. These pants are baggy at the bottom (they're boot cut, I think?). They are a little too long- hem rubs the floor when I wear them barefoot, but once I have shoes on they gather at the top of the shoe. The reason I decided not to return and go with the short length is because I don't like pants to slip up the ankle too far if I have to kneel or crouch in them. As a homesteader with sheep and plants, I am bending and stooping and forcing my body into lots of rather contortionist positions throughout the day trying to wrangle sheep, ha. The short length would slip up far too much for me. But I do wish these pants had a more slim fit at the bottom, just tapered in a bit more than they are. Also, while fitted perfectly around my bottom, hip, and thigh, the waist has an annoying gap that even a belt won't help. But the next size down would likely be too tight for use as work/farm pants, so I am going to just keep this size.

What do I LOVE about these pants (I have 2 pairs) ? The double knees help sustain the daily hours of hand weeding, as well as not require me to change to check bees, free-range the chickens, or dust off and jump in the truck to the feed or grocery store. Unlike other similar (but non-organic) brands, these pants arrive 'broken in' but don't feel 'worn in' if that makes sense. I am 5'5" (WITH rubber boots on!) and an athletic 120#, and the 0 fits comfortably, even after washing. I have the 'regular' length, and with a 30" inseam-body, and after washing, they are only a tiny bit too long, but I do think the short version would have been too short. I am 50-ish, and dislike high wasted pants, and really like how the pants sit naturally on my waist and not high under my ribs. I like the adjustable tab on the back, altho I still will usually wear a belt. The back pockets are deep, like the old 'stand up' short pockets, perfect for phone and seed packets, and small tools. What could these pants have to make me EXTRA-LOVE them? I still give these a 5-star but for extra credit I would suggest these have a hammer loop (not always for a hammer, as i usually have stuff on carabiners I like NOT to clip on a belt loop), and the slim pockets found on lower right thigh of the overalls would be most excellent. -- I will buy more of these for sure. I am a lifelong wearer of Patagonia, but now with a Certified Organic Farm of my own, supporting sustainability, and organic farming practices is even more important to me.

I don't understand why it's even there; there are belt loops, so I can wear a belt. It would also be really nice if there were some side pockets on the outside thighs for tools or pens. It's one of the few options for women's work pants, and that's great, but the pockets are so strange. I'd also like to lobby for an insulated version. I ordered a pair of these (in brown) to whack Chinese privet in amongst Smilax and Rubus thorns and while crawling around in the leaf litter. For a "pear shaped" body, this is a tough cut! I was excited to get these in the mail but now I'm not sure if I should keep them. I ordered a 10, which is generally my size. PERFECT

As an electrician doing industrial and commercial work in NYC am writing this because I never want to see these pants disappear from the market or be reshaped. To all the ladies complaining about the fit and size please stop. THESE ARE WORK PANTS I've been a 12s all my life and I purchased a 12s which fits perfectly. In the age of skinny slim ... Read Morejeans, I upsize a lot of pants because they fit everywhere except my hips, if you're more flat it makes sense that you would have to downsize two sizes on a relaxed fitting pant. So If you had to buy smaller sizes but they still FIT you, as in your butt fits in the pants and there are no gaps, it's NOT a problem, it is the result of company actually measuring women and not mannequins for their fit test (seriously that's how most company shape clothes). I don't want patagonia to downsize these pants because that means I can still buy size 14 for winter if I need to layer them up, like anyone that actually uses them for work will come winter time, cause we work outside. And again THESE ARE WORK PANTS they should be catering to women doing hauling and heavy lifting not sitting in an office, 90% of women's clothes do that already. Women in my line of work are underserved, and they develop quads, calves and glutes because it's physically impossible to do the job being a yogi size 2. I am so happy to have these pants after years of being a Patagonia jacket and bag consumer. I've historically settled for oversized cheap men's pants for work, the practical and necessary pockets are a must, but it feels soooo nice to not look like a sack of potatoes anymore (for the record if you are flat, the women's Carharts will work great for you). The gap control in the back is great, also the waist sits in a comfortable position (not so high it digs into you when you bend). The material is amazing, super durable, breathable, yet they feel lighter than plain canvas. If you're old enough to remember that satisfaction of breaking in new jeans (back when denim was thick enough it lasted you a few years) you're gonna love these. You'll get that best friend feel after a week or two, they move really well too. One of the reasons the material and fit are so important to me and in work is cause loose cloth are a hazard around power tools but stretch material will ignite into flames in a heartbeat, so I'm ecstatic to have these, will probably take them hiking and climbing too, they might be heavier but can take the beating (how about some hemp trail pants eh?) I do wish the pockets were a tiny bit bigger and a side mid knee sleeve for pencil or cell phones would be nice (they put in the men's jeans version, would so love that for woman please, the jeans too). I'm 5'5" 30" inseam 42" hip 32" waist sidebar: I only wish the work tops had taken in account the hips they obviously figured out we have. The shirts are long (as they should be for work) but too narrow for the hip and too wide for the waist

Awesome!

It is quite rare that I leave reviews, but after wearing these pants nearly every day since February for various activities, I feel like I have a pretty good idea about how they work. Read Moreregularly hike up and down steep canyons 3,000 feet deep off trail, complete with sharp rocks, sharp cacti, sharp vegetation, and any other terrible thing to throw at clothing and gear. There is even stuff called catclaw with a curved grabby point. I additionally, go climbing and caving in these environments too, just another thing lots of clothes cannot handle. Hiking in this environment regularly rips jeans and ripstop to shreds. Regular carhartts are the norm, but are quite heavy and have an awkward fit in my opinion. In 6 months of wearing these workpants, I haven't had one rip or tear. There is definitely some wear where those sharp plants have ripped a single thread in the weaving, but nothing more major than that. I have fallen on sharp limestone and these pants are like armor, no scrapes on me and no holes in my pants. Sharp needle like points like prickly pear spines will still go through the fabric, but does not seem to damage it. Caving requires lots of crawling on your knees and the double knee adds a nice but of extra protection even without kneepads. The amount of grip on rock using my knees or butt for caving or other awkward movements is slightly better than jeans. In the winter they were warm enough to not worry about long underwear above about 25 F (for me!), and here in summer it regularly gets up to 100 F. 100 is hot for any pair of pants, but these definitely breathe better than jeans or carhartts. They dry as fast as cotton dries, so when they get wet from that unexpected monsoonl thunderstorm, they are heavy and relatively slow to dry...but that is to be expected. The style is nice, I dress fairly androgynous, so I like the more baggy, square style. The pockets are excellent. The back pockets are a great shape and provide decent extra protection. I do wish the front pockets were larger...I know they are better than most women's clothing, but I have small hands and my hands still don't fully fit in them. Compared to men's clothing these pockets are still too small. I also like the cinch strap in the back. I almost always have a backpack on, whether it's a day pack or much more, and haven't noticed any discomfort. I have noticed that after wearing the pants a few days between washes they do stretch out a bit, and become loose, so it's nice to be able to easily tighten them. The buckle has ripped some upholstery though when I've sat down...not sure what to suggest about that. My only gripe with these is they run very large! I am 5'4, and 140. In men's pants I regularly wear a 30x30 in most brands. Using the fit calculator here, it said I should get about a size 8. I tried that and it was so big I sent it back. I now have a size 6, BUT would purchase a 4 in the future. Maybe I'm just used to buying men's sizes for work pants but needing to size down by two sizes seems a bit excessive. Overall, I would definitely reccomend these pants for any kind of work that puts wear and tear on your regular clothes. Definitely size down! I've been debating buying another pair for a while, and it's only a debate because these have held up so well, I'm not sure when I will NEED another pair.
