Excellent chorin/ around town pants

Big fan of these pants, the lightweight hemp is durable yet notable lighter and hangs better than the Forge version. The unique 'big ole back pocket' design is great for holding pretty much anything. Sizing is totally off

I gave these a 3 star only because the fabric weight and texture is really great. The sizing on these pants is ridiculous. I always wear a 38X32. I ordered this size the first time and they were super tight and super long. I gave them to my son, who normally wears 36X34. Then I ordered a 40X32...those were super huge and super long. Hi Greg, thank you for submitting this review. In general our work wear is designed with a relaxed fit, and these pants are designed to fit true to waist size but roomy through the legs. We're sorry to hear neither of these sizes worked for you! We're glad to see you're returning the last pair. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Service Team if you'd like to get specific measurements on any item so you can feel more confident of getting the best fit for you. I like the concept

I wanted to like these pants, for work and casual wear, but they just are not that comfortable. The hemp material is nice, its the fit that is lacking. The long size, which I expected to fit me, is too long and needs to be hemmed. Also, the double front makes them heavy on the hips, constantly needing to hike the up. Typical Patagonia product

...typically well thought out and made to last. Read Morejust a little better than the rest. These pants are typically superbly made - with every detail well thought out and executed. As a big fan of the original stand-up shorts, I dig the pocket layout. The fit is a little on the baggy side, but I'm closer to a 35 waist than 36, and they are "relaxed fit" so the waist is probably accurate. I've always worn 34" inseam, but these seem longer. I would love to see a phone pocket, and for all us aging boomers out there - another pocket for my reading glasses. And since I'm never without my pocket knife, I sew a small partition in my front pocket to hold my knife vertically. I have never been disappointed with any Patagonia product I've owned. In a time of cheap mass produced junk, it's good to know there are companies out there doing the right thing - for humans and the world!

Room for improvement

I wanted to love these pants; I did not return them to Patagonia but I was not fully satisfied with what I had hoped for. My one criticism would be resolved if these pants were offered into different variations, similar to the women's version... A regular and a trim cut. I am a pretty thin person, and these pants swallow me whole.

January 5, 2023

Great fit

Bought these for my tall thin son. Perfect fit. He was thrilled.

December 28, 2022

Very comfortable

These pants are very comfortable. They are tough, wear well. The double knee allows for the insertion of knee protection pads making working on your knees much more comfortable.

Nice but..

Hi, I was a little surprised when I received the pants to find 27% polyester in the blend when they are advertised as hemp pants. Usually I do not like polyester in my clothes. Nevertheless, I will wear them and hopefully enjoyed. Cheers

Comfortable, but durability is questionable

I love hemp as a textile for many reasons and loved these pants at first. I purchased two pairs and both have had flaws in their construction. I have not put these pants under any stress other than average daily use. I love every aspect of them except for the durability. They feel great and I really like the creative construction of the back pocket. It is much easier to access the back pockets with the way they are designed. These pants are not as reliable as my old work pants though. Patagonia I know that you have a repair program, so you dont have to tell me. The point is the pants should not need to be repaired after a month of use.

Ranch/Work Staple

These pants, quite possibly, are the best pants Ive worn!!! From fit to function they exceeded my expectations of Patagonia quality! The double knee comes in handy when working with one knee on the ground. The length was perfect for a tall cowboy.

very soft and comfortable

Im 65 and 230. I bought the 38 long and they fit really well. The back pockets are massive and easy to get into. The material is soft but after a few tugseasy to tell they are durable. The double knee layering ads both to the ruggedness while also making kneeling down more comfortable.

So far so good ...

Nice pair of pants for doing trailwork and casual enough for every-day use. The fit is fine. The fabric weight is lighter, but certainly not lightweight. The pockets are another story. I have been wearing them constantly since I got them. Ideally, I do not need the double knee, but extra padding does not hurt. The back/side pockets are excellent. I'd taken a pair of Iron Forge pants to Afghanistan in the winter, and with the exception of some fraying/ripping on one of the knife inserts, they were perfect. However, as the weather started to warm up, i longed for similar pants in a lighter fabric, so I ordered these in green. If anything, my love for these has surpassed my love for the I... Read Moreron Forges. I've submitted them to some pretty punishing use, both in the spring and early summer of Afghanistan, but on stateside hiking after I came back. They've held up well, and look way better/cleaner than they ought even when worn for 7-10 days at a time out in the dirt. The fabric is heavy enough to be durable and rough-wearing, but light enough that the heat doesn't get too oppressive in warm/hot weather. While I love the Iron Forges, if I had to choose only one pair of hempy Patagonia pants, I think it'd be these.

Waist runs small.

Maybe order a size or two up. Wear 33's in every other Patagonia pant to date and they fit well; ordered 33 longs for this model and they're more like a relative 31/32.

Fabric already starting to fail at stress points and issues with crotch design.

I purchased a pair of these in the green along with a pair of the of Iron Forge Hemp Canvas Cargo Pants (which are amazing). The deep drop in pockets are great as are the double knees. The colour and feel of the fabric is great, with the exception of the crotch; the seams rub and are uncomfortable to walk in. The left pocket knife clip gusset is al... Read Moreready frayed and coming apart despite the fact I rarely carry anything in that pocket, my knife lives in my right pocket. The fabric is also starting to come apart in the seam just below the fly. All this and I've only worn them casually (at my wife's request not to trash all my trousers by working in them, and they look so nice). I'm 6'3" and #205, purchased the 36L and they run bigger than the Iron Forge Hemp Canvas Cargo Pants in the same size. Promising, with some bugs to work out.
