I like the concept
I wanted to like these pants, for work and casual wear, but they just are not that comfortable. The hemp material is nice, its the fit that is lacking. These pants are typically superbly made - with every detail well thought out and executed. As a big fan of the original stand-up shorts, I dig the pocket layout.
The fit is a little on the baggy side, but I'm closer to a 35 waist than 36, and they are "relaxed fit" so the waist is probably accurate. I've always worn 34" inseam, but these seem longer.
I would love to see a phone pocket, and for all us aging boomers out there - another pocket for my reading glasses.
And since I'm never without my pocket knife, I sew a small partition in my front pocket to hold my knife vertically.
I have never been disappointed with any Patagonia product I've owned. In a time of cheap mass produced junk, it's good to know there are companies out there doing the right thing - for humans and the world!
I wanted to love these pants; I did not return them to Patagonia but I was not fully satisfied with what I had hoped for. My one criticism would be resolved if these pants were offered into different variations, similar to the women's version... A regular and a trim cut. I am a pretty thin person, and these pants swallow me whole.
These pants are very comfortable. They are tough, wear well. The double knee allows for the insertion of knee protection pads making working on your knees much more comfortable.

The product is excellent. Well made and built to last.
I love hemp as a textile for many reasons and loved these pants at first. I purchased two pairs and both have had flaws in their construction. In one pair the stitching on the back pocket has come undone and there is a tear that has formed on the back of the other pair. I have not put these pants under any stress other than average daily use. I love every aspect of them except for the durability. They feel great and I really like the creative construction of the back pocket. It is much easier to access the back pockets with the way they are designed. These pants are not as reliable as my old work pants though. Patagonia I know that you have a repair program, so you dont have to tell me. The point is the pants should not need to be repaired after a month of use.

I wear either a 38 or 40 pants depending on the brand and cut. I have 38in pants from Patagonia I've worn and washed for almost a decade that I can still fit in. Even worse, by the time I got them to 3 inches below my belly button, I was having to make decisions on placent of certain things. Weirdest, smallest cut pants ever!!!

Ranch/Work Staple
These pants, quite possibly, are the best pants Ive worn!!!
From fit to function they exceeded my expectations of Patagonia quality! The double knee comes in handy when working with one knee on the ground. The length was perfect for a tall cowboy.
Im 65 and 230. I bought the 38 long and they fit really well. The back pockets are massive and easy to get into. The material is soft but after a few tugseasy to tell they are durable. The double knee layering ads both to the ruggedness while also making kneeling down more comfortable.
Nice pair of pants for doing trailwork and casual enough for every-day use. The fit is fine. The fabric weight is lighter, but certainly not lightweight. The pockets are another story. The pants are styled after the venerable stand-up pants / shorts, and while the back pockets may be deep and cavernous, I'd appreciate an extra pocket for my wa... Read Morellet, and a better place for my phone. Other companies make more useful work pants. Past experience with the front pocket fabric is also poor: the front pockets usually die first and require patching when the rest of the pants is still in excellent shape. The fabric on these pants looks very similar to recent and past failures. Come on Patagonia, after all these years you should have figured it out.

The back pockets on these pants are very strange they look backwards when you hold them up but the pant is functional and comfortable but would prefer regular pockets.

light and durable feel
I have been wearing them constantly since I got them. Ideally, I do not need the double knee, but extra padding does not hurt. The back/side pockets are excellent. I might sew a little blockade in the right one to keep things from falling out. Only one thing has fallen out and I was laying back on my couch with my knees up.

They are not too warm and not too cool. block wind reasonably but still feel breathy. I do wear long johns under on single digit days but just as precaution. They do not look as tacky as I thought they would look and I feel presentable in casual to formal situations. The legs are straight but not wide fit, normal pant really.
I ordered 34 long which I can wear without a belt. They run long so I fold them up when I'm not wearing boots. I can usually squeeze into a 32 so these run a little small on width from common pants.
I will be buying another pair in tan.
After a few weekends in these pants I can't imagine wanting to wear anything else. Working on home renovation projects, these pants flex, protect, and support. The rear pocket design holds gloves, tools, notebooks, etc. well, intuitively, and provide easy access without allowing stuff to fall out.

The back pockets can comfortably accommodate all of my hand tools on the job site, plus I have not yet had the pants show any signs of heavy wear even with several weeks of hard use.
I was surprised how great these pants are. Very soft yet rugged. I have a feeling I might need another pair. The only weird thing is the back pockets. Theyre kinda big and deep. Not what Im used to.
Saw a review of these pants on YouTube and decided to purchase them as work pants. The hemp/cotton/polyester blend is super durable and stain resistant so far. I love the deep, offset back pockets. I've had carhart and dickie pants. They are either too stiff or not durable enough. Either way, they don't believe in the good practices of patagonia. I love the new pants.
Although these pant are really soft yet durable, the rear pocket depth and lack of any side (phone) pocket detract from my overall experience with them. If Patagonia put a more traditional back pocket and a side pocket, I would definitely give them a five star rating. Otherwise, they are great.
Im 62 and I bought a 34 long which is big for me, however, this is how I like my pants. They cuff nicely, seem durable, and are very comfortable. Something you can wear seemingly forever. I climb In these and they are big enough to provide a fine range of motion In the legs, but not so baggy that its obnoxious.

I'm on the job site every day in Georgia roofing. Hot and humid everyday. I sweat through the pants twice a day during the summer. The utility pockets and gusseted crotch are a must for work pants. I just wish they were a little lighter with a little more stretch.

I typically need to wear a 31 or 32 in Patagonia--these were a 32 (the non-double knee, 5 pocket version is solid 31, however). I'm 6'1" and went with the long version, which is on the money.
These are tough wear but good looking pants. Super happy to wear these to a music show or to build a fence. I’m a tall guy, so the fact that Patagonia’s pants are finally being made with a legit 34” inseam is a game changer.
I bought the pants in Rattan color and love them. They are very sturdy with big pockets. The back pockets are placed differently than any other pants I have but I like the big size and that the opening comes almost more towards the side.

These pants have ended a nearly life long journey for the best work pants. The price is comparable to other quality work pants but material, design and comfort are light years beyond any other pants I’ve tried. My only crystal would be the limited color options.
The texture of the Pants feel good. I had hoped they would be of a heavier material. However, the fabric weight was probably mention somewhere in the Patagonia website and I didn’t see the information.
the pants are too large in the waist even though I ordered the same size I wear in every other pant I've had in the last 40 years.
the seams along the gusseted crotch are not lined with soft cotton as the other waist seams are; therefore those seams rub me raw when walking or hiking. can't do it.

The quality is excellent and the waist size and inseam are spot on, but the overall fit is a bit too relaxed for my taste. I would like to see a more fitted version.
I'd taken a pair of Iron Forge pants to Afghanistan in the winter, and with the exception of some fraying/ripping on one of the knife inserts, they were perfect. However, as the weather started to warm up, i longed for similar pants in a lighter fabric, so I ordered these in green. If anything, my love for these has surpassed my love for the I... Read Moreron Forges. I've submitted them to some pretty punishing use, both in the spring and early summer of Afghanistan, but on stateside hiking after I came back. They've held up well, and look way better/cleaner than they ought even when worn for 7-10 days at a time out in the dirt. The fabric is heavy enough to be durable and rough-wearing, but light enough that the heat doesn't get too oppressive in warm/hot weather. While I love the Iron Forges, if I had to choose only one pair of hempy Patagonia pants, I think it'd be these.
Maybe order a size or two up. Wear 33's in every other Patagonia pant to date and they fit well; ordered 33 longs for this model and they're more like a relative 31/32.
