These shorts are lightweight with plenty of extra room in the hips and thighs that I am not used to in most Patagonia shorts. Easy on/off, no getting stuck on the hips. I have wide hips and muscular thighs that most pull-on shorts hang-up on. Would be really wide in the leg for people with skinnier legs.

These mediums were almost 2 more inches larger all around than the baggies. These shorts all stain very easily and Im not very easy on my clothes, especially for work. Best shorts ever!
I am absolutely obsessed with these shorts. Both for fit and comfort reasons. While I like my baggies, I have never been able to get a good fit on them. It seems like Patagonia tends to make bottoms for skinnier legs so if you have a good size butt or quads it makes the fit impossible! Alas - these amazing shorts! love these, but glad i tried them on before buying. i'm usually a medium in patagonia bottoms (8 in work pants), and the small size of these shorts fits perfectly. the fit is very similar to older pairs of baggies (from 2010-2014 ish), and i was so disappointed by the updated cut of the 5" baggies. we haven't had much shorts weather ... I would still recommend you buy because they are so so cute- but get one or two sizes smaller. I cant really wear mine because they just look huge on me.

Great casual cotton short - runs large
Like many of the other reviewers, I got these because I love the fit of baggies and was intrigued by this cotton option. I love the use of natural fibers and the overall look of the shorts (I got the natural color), but I do think the fit is a bit off. Love the yellow color, really wished I loved the shorts! I originally bought a medium and there was massive leg gaps and crotch poof! Better Than The Baggies
I battled with finding a pair of shorts LIKE the baggies but better for my body shape. These shorts run larger (I sized down) but has such a better shape and better material than the baggies. I own every color and do not regret it one bit.
I was hoping that these would be a good replacement for the 5" Baggies since Patagonia has changed the cut of those, but unfortunately these are not the same. The most awkward thing is that there's a weird poof of fabric on either side of the front vertical seam, which sort of looks like it's meant to accommodate male anatomy. It is ... Read Morereally not attractive on shorts meant for women. I tried rolling the waistband down, and that helps a bit, but then they're too low rise in the back if you have any sort of butt.
The other thing is that the leg openings are huge. I love the loose fit of the Baggies, but the leg openings on the Funhoggers are about 1.5 inches wider in diameter, which gives them a look reminiscent of culottes from the 80s. Not necessarily a bad thing, but when paired with the extra fabric in the front region, it makes them look pretty silly. I went with my usual size and the waist fits perfectly, so it's not just a sizing issue.
On the plus side, the print is really cute, the fabric feels sturdy, and the pockets are wonderfully deep (they actually go all the way down to the bottom hem on the legs). But going to stick with my old school Baggies for now and hope they last for many more years.

I cant imagine a body type these wouldn't look great on. I like my shorts to have a wider baggy leg butt area and a cinch waist. The pockets nailed it for me too. A necessity for sure if you're into comfort. Bought my first pair in the natural tone, will be buying all the colors, will not have buyer... Read Mores remorse. The construction feels legit, time will tell on that aspect. If you have tendencies to adjust length depending on outfit, the waist rolls down nicely with access to pockets still.
