The problem isn't the circumference, it's the height. It's way too big for a 5 year old boy (90th percentile height at last check-up). The hat pushes down on his ears so the tops off his ears stick straight out. There shouldn't be one size for all kids. There should be a smaller size. 10 year olds and 5 year olds have different ... Favorite hat
My son has 3 Patagonia hats now and they are his favorite! Love the color options and always fit true to size.
The quality of the hat is, of course, awesome. My issue is I bought this kids hat for myself because I have a smaller head but the depth of the hat was sized for adults, not kids! My husband put it on and it fit like his regular hat. My 8 year old daughter put it on and it went down over her ears, as well as covered part of mine when I put it on. V... Hey Kristen, thank you for the review. We're sorry to hear that it didn't work out with this hat. It looks like the circumference measures in at 21.654" on the fourth snap. The snaps should help and allow you to adjust to a smaller size if need be. I purchased 2 of the womens hats a few years ago and unfortunately they were still too big for my 21in circumference head. So glad to have these that fit! Definitely too big for our 3 year old (19in head) but probably great for older kids and larger kids heads.

We got this hat because we have a large headed toddler who was sad that his old hats didn't fit anymore. This has a good range of sizes and fits well without bunching up due to being on a tighter size. It is also very cute. Would definitely recommend these hats, this will fit him for years to come!

Ive been looking for a cute trucker hat for one of my babies, and this hat is perfect. The materials are great, it is adjustable, and its light enough where my 14 month old boy will keep it on.
This hat is a bit large for a kids hat. My 5 year old son has a giant head and I ordered a second one for myself. For both of us the hats are too "tall" but my son loved the design so we kept his. I have a tiny head and usually wear kids hats but this one would have come down over my ears so I sent it back.
I was skeptical at buying this at first for my 3 year old coz on the website it says its for big kids. But they fit perfectly on my little one and has some much room to grow. And guess whatI purchased three more of these hats. Perfect for giving gifts as well.
I Got this hat for my almost 4 year old son . We live in FL and he wears hats all the time when outside . We loved the fit and the style , however the hat stains A LOT from the sweat and can not be cleaned off . This has never happened before and to this extend . Cutest little hat
My toddler absolutely adores his hat. It will fit him well into his teenage years.
This hat was for my 17 year old nephews birthday. He asked for it specifically. It barely fits him on the last notch on the strap. Disappointing that it stated 1 size fits all.

Good fit for smaller head adult
Placed hat on head and fit perfectly. Realized next day was kids version so went back to exchange. The full size hats were too large and looked ridiculous. Smaller headed adults this is the right fit.
I got this hat for my seven year old. It fits perfect and he loves it. Love your company and all the things youre doing for climate change. Not to mention pioneering for more sustainable farming. Keep up the amazing work!

I love the design of these hats and they are very well constructed. However, this is a YOUTH size and it's still too large for my head. My hat size is 6 7/8. I know its adjustable but its too tall. Great quality
I got this hat for my 2 year old. It fits him really well. He has a bigger head. The hat is tough enough to withstand all of his outdoor activities. It keeps the sun out of his face. Hes been wearing it for a few weeks now and it still looks brand new. Its very sturdy and comfortable.
Slightly big on our 4 yr old, which is great because he'll be able to wear it for a few years to come! Great melon and light teal color combo; my son loves the manatee on the front, and I love how it's a unique color combo that matches many things.
Bought this hat for my little guy. Its worn when he goes on bike rides, walks or a day out. Goes with anything

I purchased this kid-sized hat for myself, as I have a very small head. It fits me (and my 9 and 8 year old daughters) great! Print is cute, colors are pretty, and it doesn't give me that awkward my-head-is-too-small look. Any adults with small-ish heads, this hat's for you!
After our spirited 1 year old lost a few ill-fitting caps we purchased the kids' trucker hat to keep the sun off his face. He hasn't lost it yet and it now accompanies him on all of his outings.
I purchased two of these hats for my daughter and end up wearing it as much as she does. She is 3 and I have a hard time getting her to stay still to reapply sun screen, so a hat that covers her face from the sun is a must. We use this on the daily as we are outside a lot. The quality is great and it looks adorable with everything.
LOVE the hat. No doubt. Bought this for my 2 yr old as it was a kids trucker hat but it’s definitely youth-adult sized. Luckily it’s adjustable and it will fit him adjusted down to the smallest size—-definitely leaves plenty of time for him to grow into it and wear it forever, basically.

I’m a 24 year old female and I like the more neutral designed hats, but the men’s hats are too big for my head, but the kids hat fit me like a glove. Highly recommend
This kids' hat is awesome. The only 'issue' is that while you can size the snap-back to fit a kid's head, the crown is pretty large so it looks big. It looks adorable on my son though!
Love the hat I got for my daughter- she gets compliments every time she wears it. More importantly she doesn’t fight me when I make her wear it to protect her from the CO sunshine!

The kid's hat I originally ordered was out of stock, and they went above and beyond to replace it with a similar one. The colors and design are so well done. Since it is adjustable it will last for years to come. It looks adorable on my toddler, but I would honestly wear it, too!

The crown is still a bit tall leaving ~1/2" or airspace when it above my ears since it makes my ears stick sideways when I try and get it down by them. Love these bill hats, very stylish, and functional as well. During summer months, we don't leave home without them. Adjustable fit is great for the growing kid. Very packable, we toss them in backpacks or tote bags. My boys wear them outside all day, so they must be comfortable.

The only differences I could find were a slightly narrower (.5 cm) bill, and the circumference of the kids one is about 3 cm shorter. I think I will end up keeping it anyway because it fits me and it's not worth it to ship it back. The hat itself is great, but it I just don't see how it can be called "kid sized".
