Patagonia Girls' Everyday Ready Jacket

December 31, 2021

Bought for our grandkids. They loved the look and kept them warm while sledding.

Our grandkids loved their new winter coats. They fit perfectly and kept them warm while sledding in the snow. Great to wear to school as well in cold weather.

Only for 50 degree weather

Sadly, Patagonia just doesn't make clothes for cold climates. I should have known. By Halloween, all the Patagonia jackets around here get put away, not to return until April. Come to think of it, I've never seen anyone wear a Patagonia jacket in winter, so I should have known better. For what it's worth, the jacket is well made, an... Read Mored the colors (borealis blue/lavender) are beautiful and sophisticated. Unfortunately, I was looking for something to handle typical daytime temps of 25-35, and that's just not what this company does. If you live in Maryland or DC or someplace like that, this is probably a good choice. Note that the jacket falls loosely from the body, and there's no snow skirt or other feature to keep cold air from coming up from the bottom. I took off stars more for the web listing than the jacket itself. There's something distasteful about listing something as "for snow" that can't possibly handle snow. And selling something for kids that is supposed to keep them warm, but will fail, is a bit ethically icky. It's fine if Patagonia simply doesn't want to be in certain markets - that's a business decision - but be honest about it so that people buy products that are suitable for their needs. Patagonia's a great company, they just missed with this one.

Hello Leigh, we appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry the jacket did not meet your expectations. You are welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) it. For references, a 100-gram thickness of synthetic insulation will provide reliable warmth under a waterproof shell for most individuals in temperatures around freezing, with proper layering. If a warmer waterproof option is preferred, the Girls' Tres 3-in-1 Parka would be more suitable. For snow sports, the the Girls' Snowbelle Jacket would also be a warmer waterproof option that includes a powder skirt to help seal out drafts.

Great jacket but not for deep winter.

Bought for my kid, exchanged for similarly priced 4 season coat. This jacket is great but felt too lightweight for winter.
