Patagonia is amazing! I had
Patagonia is amazing! I had purchased a very similar jacket about 4 or 5 years ago for my oldest kid, tiny holes started to form along the arm seem while my second kid was using it. I took it to Patagonia for repair, and it was determined the repair would change the fit of the arm width. They offered to replace the jacket at no cost. Amazing!! What... Read More other company does that?!?! This style does run a bit smaller than my original jacket, but it still works and I have a third kid who will get lots of use out of it too! Buy well & buy once!
Hack for hanger loop!
I bought this in red for my 8 year old and was dismayed that there was no longer a hanger loop. After a few days of struggling with hanging the jacket up by our door, I came up with a simple hack. I looped a ribbon through the tag and we now hang it up by the ribbon. This only works because the tag itself a loop/tubular and the jacket is very light... Read More. Please bring back the real loops though! But in the meantime, my little hack works for us and hopefully it can work for others who are reading this review.
Great Jacket for Our Son
We purchase a new down sweater jacket for our son every 2-3 years. They hold up beautifully, always look sharp, are great for layering and wash and dry well. Side note - his older jacket ripped on the playground and the repair department did a fantastic job mending the arm.
Nice Jacket But No Hanger Loop
This is a nice jacket as you would expect from Patagonia. However, the lack of a hanger loop is a glaring flaw. Now, dont get me wrong this omission sounds fairly innocuous, but what parent isnt trying to get their kid to clean up after themselves? It turns out that the combination of no hanger loop and a virtually frictionless material will defy n... Read Moreearly any effort of little hands to hang it on the mudroom wall hook. Its a good looking jacket that performs well just as long as you dont mind finding it on the floor.

Hi Ryan! Thank you for writing us a review on our Kid's Down Sweater. You bring up a great point regarding the lack of a hang loop. Feedback like this is what helps us to improve products for future seasons so we'll share this with our design team.
Bought this in a size 12 for my son who is 10 thinking he would have some room and be able to use it this year and next, but it ended up being smaller than I expected-- thankfully I bought red which my daughter can wear. My son had a 10 in a previous Patagonia kids down jacket and it seems to be bigger than this 12.
Amazing Classic Jacket....but
This is a wonderful jacket. They stand to the wear and tear of kids. It's cute, easy to zip, warm, great for car rides and car seats, etc. Unfortunately it has NO COAT LOOP for hanging it up (two seasons ago they did have coat loops), which is almost a deal breaker because at school its hard to keep it hung up without a hook. A new feature I ... Read Morelove is that there are elastic cinchers on the inside sides of the jacket which help to cinch up the jacket a bit if its too big. They also include a patch. But I would give up both of those new things to have the hanging coat loop back. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!

Great everyday kid jacket
I buy these jackets one size big every 2 years for my son. It then gets passed down to his younger brother. We live in these jackets. They are perfect for the car seat and to and from school. We live in MN and used to live in CO. These jackets really stand up to time. We are forever Patagonia customers. Esp now. Thanks Patagonia- we love you.
Mostly Love It
This is the third Down Sweater we have purchased for our son and we will probably continue to buy them. They are warm, light and hold up to being washed often. It's a great jacket. Just two things we were not crazy about with this one: 1) On all our other Patagonia jackets, they come with a loop to hang the jacket. This one did not for some re... Read Moreason. I hope they put that back. 2) We weren't crazy about the writing and animal print on the inside of the jacket. Would have preferred that to be a color or would have loved for the jacket to be reversible so he can change up the look every once in a while.
Great product but why no loop to hang up
My only complaint is that Patagonia has done away with the little loop that allows you to hang coats on a hook. This was a vital part of the older Patagonia jackets and allowed my children to hang their coats properly. Now, their best attempts end up on the floor. A significant oversight IMO.

Material seems very stiff
I have bought so many down jackets for my 3 kids from Patagonia and for some reason, this one seems so much stiffer than the previous years. My kids love to wear their jackets and my son did not want to wear this one and preferred his old jacket. I do not recall any of my kids having issues with them in the past.

Nice Warm Lightweight Coat
I bought this for my 10 year old son. We tried on XXL & it should fit him this year & next before he grows out of it. He has a similar version from an Old store in a size Large that he had outgrown, so to size up 2 sizes, it definitely runs small. He is 4,11 and 100 lbs, so he is tall for his age I think. It is nice but I wish it had a hood... Read More which would make it more practical. It is a nice weight for not super cold days in the winter, when a parka is too warm.
No longer has a loop to hang it up
The latest version of this jacket does not have a loop for your kids to hang up them up. It means that these jackets are spending their life on the floor at home and at school. Crazy oversight. Bring back the loop!

Love this jacket but where is the loop?!
I love this jacket for my daughter as it is lightweight, warm and can be put into her backpack with ease. This is our second one and Im disappointed that this new style has no loop to hang the jacket on. It keeps sliding off our coat room hook. It really bothers me that there isnt a convenient way to hang this now.

Perfect for a small woman
I'm 5'5" and weigh 98 pounds. A few years I discovered that extra large boys sizes fit me perfectly (also save me money). This is my second down sweater. I lived in the first one from September through May, first thing I put on in the morning, last thing off at night, in a drafty old house hard to heat above 62 degrees. Eventually fe... Read Moreathers begin to poke out and get on everything, so after four years of nearly every day wear and many washings, I got this lovely new one. Now we need Patagonia to make down sweater weight pants!
I bought this in Green for my 4 year old son because I have one and its so comfortable. I actually prefer to wear a t-shirt or sleeveless top because I love the way it feels. Very warm and like snugs to your body. In below freezing temperatures need a shell over it. Also love that its not too puffy. Love, love, love
Great as always
This is the 4th year we have purchased the Kids Down Sweater. It fits great, very versatile. I love the new additions to the jacket this year; the jacket can fold into a bag and that it comes with a worn wear patch! Great product that can withstand elementary school.
Where's the loop?
I have bought this jacket for my son in bigger and bigger sizes every year for the past 6 years, but this year I was super disappointed to see that they no longer put that little loop at the back of the jacket's neck that allows him to hang it up on a hook. Where did the loop go? My son's jacket now slides off the hooks we've got at ... Read Morehome for outerwear, and the hook he's got in his locker at school, ending up dirty on the floor. I can't imagine why they discontinued the loop; any active jacket I know has one, and it's especially important for kids. Please bring it back next year or else I'm going to have to buy a different brand, which would be sad.

Third Patagonia Puffer in 10 KID years
My son is almost 11 and he has had a total of three down sweaters (aka puffers) since the age of 18 months until now. Both the quality and the fit are such that they last for years - for a growing kid!! Its crazy. They are more expensive than some but three coats in ten years is pretty amazing for those fast-growing ages. Plus they are handed down ... Read Moreto his sister!! My only complaint is that there is no way to hang this one. It is so weird! We have to hang it on the collar area which of course falls down. Kind of a major miss if you ask me. Otherwise, were happy. Love the color. As far as sizing, he is a fairly small almost 11 year old and we could have easily gone with the small but pushed a bit for the medium to get a year or two out if it.
Best jacket ever
The down sweater is the best jacket I have ever owned. I bought it in wax red and is the prettiest shade of red I have ever seen! Im a college student and bought kids xxl, which is similar to adult medium. If anyone is looking for a packable, but warm jacket for college, get this jacket. Its the best purchase I have ever made!
Great kids down puffer for mid fall!
Our daughter is 6 years old and the XS fit well. We ordered the S first and while it could have worked by rolling the cuffs and thinking of it as baggy until she grew into it, we ultimately went with the best true fit for right now, which still leaves some room to grow and layer with a fleece underneath when it gets a bit colder. She really loves i... Read Moret - its soft and comfy and great quality.
