The Bottoms that Keep on Gripping (just beware the liner adhesive)
I just purchased my second pair of W's NanoGrip bikini bottoms. I have one in black, and one in light violet blue. These bottoms are magic. I have narrow hips and not much in the way of a backside, so I am usually hiking up my suit bottoms all day unless they have a waist-tie (think lifeguard bottoms)...but not with these! I'm 5' 3&q... Read Moreuot;, 125lb, and finally landed on the XS as the right fit. I feel like they definitely run a little large, as I'm usually a S, or 4-6, in other bottoms. My first pair has held up to multiple trips through the washing machine, salt and chlorine, and the color is still bright and no sign of wear. These stay put, through laps, water skiing, and toddler chasing. The reason I can't give them 5-stars however is two-fold. The amazing NanoGrip liner? It rolls out of the edges at the back along the buttocks. It's like the liner is just a little larger than the outer fabric, and there is nothing in the world that seems to keep the liner from peeking out around the back edges. Functionally, no impact. Visually? Pretty obvious when a grey liner is peeking out of a black bathing suit. It's a flaw I'm willing to accept for the great functional performance, but others might not. The second reason is the sanitary liner. I have purchased other non-NanoGrip bottoms from Patagonia, and they didn't have have the same liner issue. I think it's a problem born out of the grip of the NanoGrip, and the grip of the adhesive on the sanitary liner. It is devilishly difficult to remove. After removing the stick-in liner on my first pair and discovering that I just couldn't get the adhesive to come out, I contacted Customer Service. They were incredibly helpful, with several recommendations for how to remove the adhesive. It was still a time-intensive process, and took me a good 45 minutes of hot water, Dawn soap, and furious scraping and picking with my fingernails. I still purchased a second pair, knowing about the liner issue, because I love these bottoms so much. The second pair has the exact same liner/adhesive issue, but this time I was able to get it out in about 20 minutes. That time I still used hot water and Dawn, but instead of my nails, I utilized a plastic scraper I normally use for scraping out cast iron pans. I image any firm, thin-edged object would work, like a credit card. I think it would be amazing if Patagonia could come up with a better way to provide a sanitary cover, one which allowed the bottoms to be wash-and-wear, instead of scrape-and-soak-and-scrape-and-soak-and-scrape-and... If you're willing to put in the work, get these bottoms! No more accidental moonings.
Nice, but sizing seems off
I wear a S in EVERYTHING Patagonia- running shorts, ski pants, base layers... but had to size up to a L . M probably could have worked but they cut in a little and looked kinda awkward- not what i'm really going for in a swimsuit. I'm 130lbs and generally wear a 27 jeans. Fabric is nice, i like the idea of the nanogrip, but haven't s... Read Morewam in them yet so cannot comment on that aspect. Decent coverage in the seat.
Adhesive stuck on suit
I LOVE this suit, however, when i pulled off the "sanitary sticker" the adhesive remained on the suit. I tried to remove with rubbing alcohol, as directed, but it did not solve the problem. I love the suit, however, I am returning because I can't seem to remove the adhesive. I wish they would sell the suits without that sticker in th... Read Moreem. That would solve the problem.
We're sorry to hear the adhesive didn't fully come off. Please don't hesitate to contact our [Customer Service](https://www.patagonia.com/customer-service.html) team if you have any questions regarding our return process.
Not enough coverage
I love the Kupala top and have two previous versions of that bikini and I loved the top and bottom, both of which fit well. I don't understand why Patagonia no longer has a bottom with decent coverage (this bottom does not have enough for me and other bottoms have too much) to go with the Kupala top. I have tried the Sunamee bottom but they ar... Read Moree saggy and the seam moves around and sometimes shows. So unfortunately, I will be returning this and not buying a Patagonia suit this year. Note, if you're comfortable with less coverage, this bottom fits fine, but I don't like the style.
