A little big, but warm and stable!
I am new to fishing gear, and purchased these boots on sale in the smallest size available. I wear a 5.5 street shoe/hiking boot. These boots are a size 6 and I could have ordered a 5 (as recommended on the size chart), and still had plenty of room. I feel a little clunky walking around in them as they are a little big, even with a large sock and w... Read Moreaders, but they are dry and warm and I haven't had any issues with the cold wearing them all winter!
Drainage not sufficient
These have been great for everything in the water, only problem is the lack of drainage holes means when I get out the boots are heavy and I can literally dump water out of them after I take them off. My husbands boots have drainage holes and you can see the water coming out of his shoe as soon as he takes it off. They do take longer to dry than my... Read More husbands boots too. Other than that I love them!
Fit well and worked for me
So I will start out to say that I am not an avid fly fisher but I did wear these several times and they worked great. I wear a 7 1/2 shoe and I purchased the size 8 and it fit over my waders fine. They seemed grippy enough and they were comfortable enough for fishing the rivers.
Light until they’re wet...
Not happy with these. My third pair of wading boots, but first by Patagonia. Although they are very comfortable and grippy, they’re not “ultra light, and they’re only even relatively light until you get them wet. There’s no way for water to drain out once you step out of the water, so they stay full of water and very heavy. There isn’t... Read More enough mesh low enough on the sides for them to drain, and they accumulate silt and gravel like crazy. On a few occasions I’ve gotten out of the water and lain down on the streambank and put my legs in the air like a dead bug just to try to drain the water out of them before I hike to the next spot. They also take *days* to dry, even unlaced and in a well-ventilated outdoor area, and began to smell like wet dog after just a few trips. I wear an 8.5 shoe, but have a ladies 9-10 neoprene wader foot, and the size 9 is a good fit. Still, I miss my old, cheaper boots and will not be buying these again until they really overhaul the design.
