Alaska Needs You

I bought this in my down sizing stage of life to have one ultimate jacket that will stand up to year around Colorado weather when hiking, fly fishing, and tele skiing on the slopes and in the backcountry. This is the jacket I purchased and was exactly the right choice for good pocket space, bomb proof protection, and good looks apes anything. Match... I own an embarrassing amount of Patagonia gear (for a reason, it normally rocks), and I can unequivocally state that this is the worst piece of technical gear I have ever bought from them. The 2022 riversalt jacket was bomb proof, I could wear it in the shower and stay dry, the 2023 swiftcurrent jacket isn't even adequate for mixed rain and su... Read Moren, and if I didn't have other rain gear, this jacket would have ruined a multi-week AK trip. I know PFAS/polyfluorinated DWR coatings are not environmentally sustainable, but Patagonia REALLY missed the mark with this jacket, to the point that they are endangering users of it who might be expecting the normal level of performance I have come to associate with my other waterproof Patagonia gear. It's unfortunate because the hood, cuffs, collar, and cut are all improvements over the riversalt or SST, but if it's not waterproof (it's not--like normal cotton levels of not waterproof), then it's not fulfilling its most basic requirement. Patagonia should pull this product; 0/10 would recommend to anyone who actually plans on using it in adverse weather.
Thank you for this feedback, Stuart. We are absolutely sharing it with our design team so they can look into this further. We're glad to see you returned your jacket, since it clearly wasn't functioning properly.

So far so good
Worked like a champ on a day of heavy rain. Lightweight, comfortable. I love the cuff design and it's well made like all Patagonia products.
