We recently discovered that certain styles of the Capilene® Cool Daily and the Tropic Comfort product lines do not meet the 50+ UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating we claimed for them. They still offer solid UV protection—it’s just not as much as advertised. If you own one of these shirts, click below for more information.Learn More

Great Pants for Cold Water
I recently bought these for a fly fishing trip in Alaska to wear under my waders. So glad that I did as it rained the entire trip and kept me the perfect temperature! I'd fish with them under thee waders then wear them as my casual pant as we hung around camp. I'm 5'6", and run between a 4-6. I got a size small. The small fit we... Read Morell, but a little tight in the knees when I squat down to do some things. I wasn't able to try these on before- but I am happy with them! If you want to layer under them- go medium, definitely.
I got the Tough Puff Pants to wear under my waders for spring fishing but immediately realized that they are amazing to wear for everything. They look good enough to wear out to the grocery store and around town, warm under waders, and great for walking or sitting around the fire. The lining is silky smooth and not snug like most layering garments ... Read Moreand they feel amazing. I immediately ordered a second pair and tell everyone about them!
Warm and comfortable.
Bought these mainly for wearing under my waders fly fishing in the winter. Im one of those permanently cold people and I have no shame wearing 5 layers on the daily. I had hopes that I could pull double duty with these for both fishing and snowboarding on very cold days, but unfortunately they are too bulky to fit under my snow pant shell. They are... Read More fine and great even under my waders. They fit well, and are long enough. Very comfortable. My only and its a small gripe is that I wish they had a higher rise. I have a long torso, so that means I need that extra inch or two in the rise to make sure there is no cold breeze gap between my top and my pants. The rise for normally proportioned people, Im sure is fine. I bought a medium, and Im normally a size 8. They fit fine, though a tad bit restrictive when I squat or have to get out of the river at a high bank. The price makes me cringe a bit, but I know Im going to o get years or wear out of them, and Im ok knowing that 1% goes to the planet and Patagonia does good overall.
Okay I have the other Puff and Nano pants from Patagonia and like them both - they are the mens version. The Puff Mens pants I have in size small. They fit good but are too short for me (5'8"). The Nano Mens Pants with the crotch zipper fits good but aren't very flattering and I have a little extra room from waist to crotch (so I rol... Read Morel the waist and the drawstring is awesome). I was excited since these were actually for women. However, I tried both the Medium and the small and went with the small. The waist is still a little big but the adjustable built-in belt helps (just not extremely comfortable). They are not a slim as the Nano pants - they are puffier and less flattering and, the calves are tight. I do have muscular legs but not elephant calves or tree trunks. My ankles are a little bigger but not huge and definitely not cankles. I will wear these under my fishing waders but they wont be as comfortable as I hoped they would be. Prefer my other pants to these - but they are very warm. I'm 5'8" 137-38lbs wear size 6 bottoms and small tops with a 34B bust.
Thank you for the in depth review on our Women's Tough Puff Pants. The notes you gave us on fit will be passed on to our Quality Analyst Team for revision consideration. These are specifically made to be used with waders, however, you could also use the [Women's Nano-Air Pants](https://www.patagonia.com/product/womens-nano-air-pants/85110.html?dwvar_85110_color=BLK&cgid=root) which you might find to be a more flattering fit.
More like marshmallow puff!
I really wanted to like these pants for an under layer or casual outer layer for camping, hiking, x-country skiing but they are so puffy that I look like a giant marshmallow in them! They also have no stretch in the waistband to allow for additional layering. So bummed.
