I love these shorts so much I bought a second pair in a new color. These shorts are so comfortable to wear and the waist does not stretch out over the course of the day. They look nicer than athletic shorts but feel just as comfortable.
I took these bad boys hiking in the rain the other day, and they feel amazing! I did not have to worry about staining them like other shorts because they can take the hit. Read MorePatagonias other pants do so you have to be careful what size you order. I have a 35 inch hips and the xs is just a little roomy. I expect to gain weight soon and be back to 36 inches and think the shorts will work perfectly.
Amazingly comfortable shorts, don't ride up, very lightweight. I'm always afraid I'll leave the house without them because you hardly feel having them on. I am 5'9 and 150lbs and they fit perfectly and don't cut in. (and I do carry my weight around my bottom and thighs mainly ;)
I wear them for tennis, windsurfing, on the ... Read Morebeach and they dry quickly, wash well and still look good after a few washes. I live in the desert and I don't get sweaty in them as in shorts clinging to thighs. I also like the leg length as not too short and not too long. One of the many just perfect Patagonia products (and now please leave them as they are and don't start the redesigning and resizing on this one !)
I was hoping these shorts could work for backpacking as they have minimum seams around the hips where a backpack belt goes, but I found the fit below the waist to be too baggy and the pockets were droopy. I ordered both small and medium and small had the best fitting waist. I was just hoping for a better and less loose leg.

Fits well the whole day
I've been looking for shorts that fit well the whole day and look a more professional than the (also great) Patagonia Baggies. These shorts are perfect! Love these shorts. I have a hard time finding shorts that are comfy- I'm really picky. These are great for hiking, farming, kayaking/SUP. They are stretchy and dry fast, I love the pockets. The flat waist band is comfy and stays in place. They are long enough for me (I'm I have long legs). Would love another pair in a neutral color!
I am 53 and 122 pounds. I am athletic with larger hips and thighs. My waist is 26 inches, high hip is 32 and fullest hip is 38. I debated between the small and the medium but didnt want these to be saggy in the crotch so went with the small. They fit perfectly, with enough extra room to not feel tight. If I ordered a size up, I would probably need ... Read Morea belt and it would be a much looser style. They are a great weight for hot summers and the length doesnt make me feel matronly.
