Patagonia Men's Swiftcurrent? Wet Wade Wading Pants - Short

Ordered a short, legs seemed very long.

I normally wear a 30 inseam which is what the short pants were. I had to have them hemmed after they arrived. I absolutely love the fabric and wear them weekly. I would recommend these to anyone.

Fit restricts movement in river environment

PROS: The fabric choice is great. Durable, fast drying, self-adjusting waistband is a nice feature. CONS: Fit through the hips restricts movement. These pants are not even comfortable sitting in the car let alone rowing a drift boat all day or wet wading. These pants need at the minimum a gusseted crotch and a more generous cut. Front pockets are ... Read Morenot deep enough. What ever you carry in there will soon be at the bottom of the stream. Right side cargo pocket would be better served with a zippered closure rather than the flap. Same with right rear hip pocket. A slightly tapered fit at the hem would reduce drag in the water while wading. Makes a huge difference when spending an entire day in the water or wearing with waders. As a professional fly fishing guide, I wanted these pants to be a good durable, functional work pant. Durable, yes. Functional, no.

Too Baggie need tapered leg

I purchased the pants for wet wading. The pants are way to baggie for this purpose as you want to minimize the amount of cuff or leg you have to wrap around your ankle in the wading gators. Patagonia is usually spot on, but I think you missed on this one for my purposes.

Tight waist

Ive been a Patagonia believer for 40 yrs, and I still wear some items purchased back then. All that time Ive been a solid Medium. The wading pants however, and maybe the guidelines for what a Medium is, seem to have gotten tighter. The elastic bands inside the waist line area appear to address the difference in waist sizes but unfortunately the wai... Read Morest is still too tight. So where is the 34 waist? The guide diagram indicates its in the Large size, but choosing this makes the legs too long, and this is unacceptable. So, Ill probably see if just cutting the elastic bands will make them fit better.

Hi Paul, thank you for submitting this review. We're so sorry that the waist in the Mediums doesn't work for you! You're right that the Large size would be roomier, with a waist of about 36", but it sounds like that length wouldn't be workable. Please know you are always welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) anything that isn't going to meet your needs, and our Customer Service Team would be happy to help with any specific questions about measurements.
