These casual cropped pants are perfect for yoga, running, walking, or lounging. The name implies they would work for rock climbing but that doesn't seem practical. The fabric is too thin and could easily tear.
I have two pairs of these pants, in black and blue. They are loose fitting but flattering and extremely comfortable. Love the high waist and tapered legs. Great for traveling and airplanes. My only design suggestion would be to remove the small zipper pocket on the leg, it is too small to hold much and interrupts the elegant line of the pants.
I know these pants are meant for climbing, but they are also perfect pants for yoga. They are loose without being baggy, are soft and light to eliminate bunching during deep folds, reliably pull up to facilitate tree pose foot positioning, and have a super comfortable high waste that provides coverage for inversions. And they are so lovely! I teach... Read More yoga, and it is a rare class when I do not have an inquiry about these pants from a student. Nice work Patagonia!
I love these pants I bought a med. since I wanted them to be baggie. They are perfect. You can climb or hike in them but also where them on a casual day. Very cute! I receive quite a few compliments. Great to wear around instead of yoga pants.
I purchased these for a recent hiking trip, along with the pack out tights. It was nice to change into them in the evenings after a day of activities. Fit loosely, very soft fabric and a joy to put on after a day in tights. But after just wearing them around they have pilled up dramatically. Id say average wear and tear - my pack out tights on the ... Read Moreother hand look brand new. Hi Kristi, we're very sorry to hear that the Maipo Rock Crops didn't meet your expectations. Due to the knit appearance of the face fabric of this particular item, this pilling can be more noticeable on a Maipo Rock Crops. To prevent pilling, we recommend washing that item either by hand in cool to cold water, or separately in your washing machine on the gentle cycle. It's best to lay it flat to dry rather than place it in the dryer where the fabric can easily get abraded.
To remove pilling that has already occurred, a sweater shaver or sweater stone is an excellent tool and can help the garment look brand new again.

better than leggings
I love these so much I have three pair. They can either be super casual or I've been known to dress them up for work.
I love wearing these and was even able to buy a size down in a different color when they went on sale. Thats great for us curvy girls! Lots of compliments and friends have also ordered.
These have been my favorite "soft pants" since getting them for Christmas a few months ago.
That said, I haven't used them for any activities besides yoga, and they started to pill pretty dramatically after about two months of wear. I'm likely still going to buy another pair soon because I do like the fit and coziness, but thes... Hey Amanda, thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear about the excessive pilling! Pilling is usually caused with friction over time. If you think you might have a warranty issue instead of regular wear and tear, we invite you to send the pants in for a warranty evaluation. You can do this [in store](https://www.patagonia.com/store-locator/) or by using the return portal on our website.

Not durable
These pants are very soft and comfortable and have a complementing fit. However, they're not very durable. I wear it for everyday activities and gym climbing, and they started pilling after a month or so, which is disappointing since they're supposed to be rock pants.
Hi Chelsi, the Maipo Rock Crops have a tendency to pill due to the knit appearance of the face fabric of this particular item. To prevent pilling, we recommend washing that item either by hand in cool to cold water, or separately in your washing machine on the gentle cycle. It's best to lay it flat to dry rather than place it in the dryer where the fabric can easily get abraded.

Runs big, super comfortable and flattering
I had to size down in these pants. The cut and style is perfect for my body type. I bought them in 3 colors but will probably wear the black the most. The gray is quite blue-ish.
I purchased these pants thinking they would fit like the Happy Hike Studio pants but they fit smaller and did not look flattering. I liked the cropped look but did not like the stretchiness and how thin the material was. I returned them.
my favorite yoga pants this year (and last year). the waist area is soft and comfortable. it provides good stretch for yoga and the cropped length makes the pants out of the way when doing some of the more awkward poses. i have three of these and trying to restrain myself from buying more! i have not had the chance to climb with these, i'm sur... Super comfortable and nice looking. Great for all-kinds of activity, and travel (they pack well). Fabric is light weight and has a smooth, almost silky feel. Runs a tad large.
These are great pants; I bought a second pair! I don't like tight fitting clothes but don't want to wear sloppy pants. These are not tight and not sloppy. I love the loose fit.
If I could live in these pants 24/7 I would. They are so soft and smooth, you would think they were made of butter. Per a recommendation to go a size down from the suggested size online, I opted to go for a large and I am glad I did. It fits perfectly snug in the butt and hips but comfortably loose in the thighs and upper calf. Flattering fit and a... Read Morell day comfort.
These pants are probably good for ppl with long legs, but they were definitely not crop length for me. Really nice fabric. Like the high waist and the cuffs, but there is only one pocket! Love these pants! I bought a pair at the retail store then another color online. I think they would be great for climbing and hiking as well as casual wear however I am afraid to snag or tear them. So comfy!
These are super comphy capris that I use all the time. I bought both a large and medium to wear with t shirts or tunic tops Both for exercise and traveling. I bought 2 pairs of each since Patagonia doesn't make a lot of black pants
I am a big fan of the Kamala pant. These are even better. With the tapered leg this style is great for yoga and everyday casual stuff. I wear these in the morning for my daily walk and end up leaving them on. They are so comfortable, I hate to be without them to put them in the wash. I love these pants. I don't wear fitted leggings and these are perfect for walking, hiking or just casual wear. Very lightweight and super comfortable and worth the splurge. Lightweight and comfortable. I love the high waist and the looseness of the leg. These can pass for casual wear...they don't have the look of athletic wear so very versatile. Runs a bit large and are very stretchy so very forgiving.
I love athleisure and leggings are my go-to pant. I decided to give these a go and was not disappointed. I am between a small and medium in most things due to my cyclist legs and bum.
