Really like the sizing and cotton material of these pants. The pockets are deep and roomy. The front zippered pocket is perfect for the iPhone. I hope Patagonia comes out with additional colors of this pant. I especially like the added elastic sides which can flex in and out depending on the size of the waist selected.
Bought two pairs of these. Both 31/32. One pair is considerably shorter than the other. Other than that great pants. Lots of stretch, pockets are in a good place. Elastic waistband is ok.

Pant with extreme comfort
One of the most comfortable pants I have worn and the material is forgiving.
These pants are equally awesome climbing rocks as they are wearing casually on the street!
I love these pants! They are roomy enough to move when climbing rocks, thanks to the stretch in the fabric. They are light and feel nice.. softly cradling you against your skin as you move. I wear them out casually and people remark that they look cool, even if there's some chalk from climbing earlier! The sizing in true to size, I would recom... I have two pairs of these and the consistency is there, and it continues to hold up! Lastly, the pockets.. I find the pockets are just in the right place when ya need them!! Don't be afraid to wear them casually, you won't look out of place in Tribeca or at a beach in Vermont, or a hike in Interlaken! Truly :)
It's all good but bring back the OG Venga internal belt.
Please bring back the integrated belt with the button on the original Venga. These new ones are nice, but I really miss the simple belt. It is a feature that should be in all Patagonia pants. The new snap comes undone with the smallest tug, especially with a climbing harness. And the belt eliminated unsightly TMC all the time. Especially when climb... Read Moreing.
these are definitely not lightweight as marketed in the product description. The Venga Rock pants feel stiff and structured and heavy. Perhaps after a year of wearing and washing, the pants may feel like a good old pair of warn pants, but after several washes, I find the feel to be stiff and heavy. The shock cord in the cuffs are thin and you have ... Read Moreto basically have a huge loop to get them to cinch closed. I'm not one to want extraneous dangling things to get snagged or hung up on. The pants are looser fit than typical patagonia pants, which range from ultra slim to baggy like these. I wear 35-36 in other patagonia pants, but I feel a 33-34 would be appropriate in these pants. I like the stretchiness of the pants and the partial elasticated wastbands. Becasue the pants feel and are heavy weight material, I don't find them comfortable in warmer weather above 80s/26Cs.
I got these pants for skateboarding since I wanted something thats easy to move in, but abrasion resistant and ethically sourced. Turns out these pants work great for that, and truth be told are more comfortable than other pants I have used when skateboarding!
Venga vs Gritstone vs Cliffsides, bring back the gritstones!
Vengas, Gritstones, and Cliffsides are a series of 3 weights of cotton blend pants in recent years and I value each one. The vengas have way more stretch than the others and I wear a 34, while a 35 works best for me with the other two. A belt is helpful if you are active in them. My two pairs of vengas are about the best travel pants I own as they ... Read Moreroll up very compact, don't particularly wrinkle, yet still look and feel like traditional pants (and not totally casual loungewear). In a pinch I will wear them to my tech office job. The cut and the stretch at the waist also allows me to wear merino baselayer leggings as I cycle to work on cold days. Gritstones are noticeably heavier, and to my taste, they are also dressier; and yet a fantastic rock pant as well. They have some stretch, but far less than vengas. As noted in a parallel comparison review of cliffsides, these are my "bushwhacking" pants and the heaviest pant I own. It would be great to see the gritstone brought back! There is room in the Patagonia line for these three types/weights of cotton blend rock pants.
Got these pants purely for climbing and they fit the role well. Cuffs roll easily to a good height above the ankles. Fit is quite relaxed. Bought them for cooler, climbing days. Used them several times now. Very comfortable. Stretch with my legs. Never feel like they are restricting my moments.
These are just right for a cool hike or day of casual running around. Nice fit that is neither skinny or baggy. The stretch helps too if you had too much to eat the night before the hike. Due to the fit, theres no room for an under layer but I don't use them on cold hikes so it is a non-issue for me. I like them and would recommend them!
I've owned these since last spring, so for the better part of a year. I've really been quite happy for the most part with the functionality of these pants for climbing; they move great, and the cotton fabric is pretty abrasion-resistant which is good for use on real rock. I will say that the fabric looks really weathered. It's not wo... Read Morern, not abraded, not anything like that. But it faded a lot, and really quickly. At a glance, you'd think they were several years old.
I was reading through all the reviews to see if anyone talked about their inseam length, and I don't see that anyone has. I ordered these in their regular length, which is stated as a 32" inseam; I just looked back at my email receipt to confirm this. But they're so short they're practically capris. The hem sits at my lower shin, probably 3 or more inches above the top of my shoe. I couldn't swear one way or another whether they were like that out of the bag, or if maybe I shrunk them in the wash. But I wash all my clothes on cold/gentle, so even if I did shrink them, I don't feel like they should have shrunk that much. I wonder if I accidentally got sent the short inseam version? Like I said, functionally for climbing, they work AOK. But I wish, especially climbing outdoors in cold weather, that they were a bit longer.
Anyone else find them to be really oddly short?
Thank you for your review, Christopher. We double checked on the measurements for these pants and you're correct, they should have a 32" inseam across the board for the regular length, regardless of size. We'd be happy to double check and make sure you have the regular length version, we've emailed you to gather more information. Feels great and seems pretty
Feels great and seems pretty
durable. Would love it if the inseam was just a little longer on these. Feel like recently (L/M/S) sized pants are tailored to a shorter/wider build.
These are fantastic if you size down the elastic does nothing if you fit true to size. Overall very happy with these pants, especially the cotton content.
Great pants , very comfortable,
Recommend to try it before, i isusallly have 38,
But is to big, for me since is designed to fit perfect I will recommend to go one size smaller.
Got the pants for my boyfriend and he loves them. He's been climbing in them ever since. They are comfortable, sits good and in great fabric for climbing.
Not really an outdoor product. More casual social wear. Not enough freedom of movement in the upper part of the trouser for it to be a true outdoor recreation pant. I purchased it for that purpose but after I found its limitations rather quickly I just wear it to the office. It's also impossible for the fabric to lay flat after washing. And si... Read Morence it's mostly synthetic or at least the elasticity part I don't believe I can iron it. I probably would not purchase this again.
Hey Craig, thanks for the review. These pants were designed to be used while climbing: the gusseted crotch, darted knees and slight stretch are all meant to allow for freedom of movement while still maintaining durability. If you're feeling tightness in the upper part of the pants, we'd recommend sizing up. The care instructions are as follows: Machine Wash Warm, Do Not Bleach, Tumble Dry Low, Warm Iron; so ultimately you are welcome to iron if you'd like. Wish there was a way to snug up the waist
Love the pants, great fabric, great stretch. One improvement could be some way to snug up the waist a little, they sag on me unless I wear a belt.
Hi, I have owned many pairs of original Vanga pants and shorts. I love them. The material wasn't the longest-lasting. I typically get a year out of them before the material gets thin and ripped. The new version is ok. Maybe a little too baggy; I'm not excited with the elastic waist and am totally bummed that I have to wear a regular belt instead of the original integrated belt. Hey Peter, thank you for leaving us a review. These pants were redesigned in Spring '22 and part of that redesign was removing the OppoSet waist adjustment you mentioned, and replacing it with a partially elasticated waist. You might be able to find an older version of these pants on our Worn Wear website, or if you're into the idea of trying something new; you could check out our [Men's Altvia Alpine Pants - Regular](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-altvia-alpine-pants-regular/82960.html?dwvar_82960_color=BLK).

Good fabric but poor design relative to previous generations

Pleasant feel and stretch material
Pleasant feel and stretch material makes it comfortable and a breeze to move around
I just got these pants before my annual striper trip in Maine . These pants are extremely tough , these Maine rocks are tough on clothing. Materiel feel was great, the pants felt too heavy to me considering what they were replacing in reference to the out going Venga pants. The heavy materiel felt bunched up in the crotch area. Hey Jeff, we appreciate the feedback. The fabric on these pants went from a 5.4-oz blend of 98% organic cotton and 2% spandex plain weave - to a 6.3-oz blend of 73% organic cotton, 24% polyester, and 3% spandex plain weave. We also removed the OppoSet waistband that used to be the adjustment method and changed it to an adjustment that goes through the entire waistband. We're sorry to hear that you were not a fan of these changes. If you prefer the older design, we do carry lightly used gear from past seasons on our Worn Wear website. Check out the Vengas we have available [here](https://wornwear.patagonia.com/shop/search?q=venga).

Everyday pants
Super comfortables! I am 32 but knowing know I would've chosen a 31s.
A bit loose on my waist.
The length is perfect!!!
Full range of motion. Including raising my knee well above my waist to high step to a foot hold. Ever so slightly snug in the hips/ upper thigh. Though likely more a conversation to be had between me and the bag of m&m's I am looking at.
Always loved these pants. Just bought a pair of the new design in a 32. Upon trying them on they felt great. Went climbing in them and they expanded so much in the waist and kept sliding down. Not a fan of wearing a belt with a harness but had to this day. The old design with the cinch in the waist was perfect. These are just regular old pants with... Actually really into the fit/feel for these pants. The material has a nice stretch but still feels like good ol' fashioned durable cotton pants. Runs a little big compared to the old version these replaced.
