Too slim fit for me
I am 65, 5 ft 3 and weigh 160. I have a bit of a tummy. I love Patagonia but I find that all of the vests and jackets fit too snug in the torso for me to be happy with the way I look in them from the side. I definitely can wear a large but I want a garment that is loose enough through the torso to hide my extra. I have tried the regular fit and hon... Hey Eugenia, thank you for the review. We're sorry to hear that our sizing has been a struggle. This jacket is the perfect weight and fit to wear under a somewhat fitted ski parka. I'm 5'9" and slim, and it fits as if it were made for me. The fabric is stretchy so it doesn't restrict arm movement, but it doesn't get baggy. On the coldest days, I add a down sweater and wear a looser parka. I'd love to see this in ... Lightweight Fitted Warmth
Pros: lightweight; cuts the wind and is effective for warmth. Also love the pockets in the front. Great for walking/hiking on a cold day. Long length, which is great for taller gals. Cons: This jacket is cut like a base layer - a little snug around the hips/belly area for my particular body type which is slim, but somewhat curvy. Sizing up to an M ... I am 5 foot 7 inches, and weigh about 128 lbs., with narrow shoulders and rib cage and slightly wider hips. Great Jkt - fit ???
The gal pal loves the Jkt - but at 5-4 & 115 and NOT liking the slim fit, had to go up a size. For Mens = I tried a Ms (S) - and at 5-6 & 140 (ish) fit was OK in most areas, BUT because product design chose to use a Reg / inset sleeve, WAY TOO TIGHT under the armpit. Way too long!
I returned this. I am five-seven and I have a long torso, but this is so long in the body that it looked like a dress (ok, a really short dress, but still). Nice but I prefer the R1 Daily jacket
First the good: This jacket is good looking, well made, and (so important) has excellent torso length! I had my eye on it for a while, and snapped it up on sale, but sadly it didn't work for me. The fabric is thinner and lighter than the similarly textured R1 regulator fleece zip neck pullover. It felt thin, cold, and a bit plastic-y and bri... Read Morettle to me, possibly due to the DWR coating. Therefore it just didn't drape right on me. I bet this piece could work great as a light durable soft-shell, for springtime hikes. Also, as other reviews mentioned, it is cut more buxom-ly than other Patagonia tops, so that might be a bonus for some!
THE FIT IS PERFECTION
I have THE HARDEST time finding jackets that fit me. I have wide shoulders and a larger bust compared to my waist and hip size. Really Slim fit
Great piece, but why so tight? Yes it stretches but unless you love the shape of your body, especially wearing a layer or two this is too tight. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review, Wendy! Again, thank you so much for taking the time to send us this feedback!
I wanted to love this, however the fit was so strange. I own several jackets from patagonia but this one is extremely long. When zipped, it hit well below my hips on my legs, not a flattering look. Nice casual jacket
I was looking to replace a jacket from a different brand, upgrading to something better. This jacket works for what I wanted it for, which was a thin-ish layer to keep warm in the office. The ideal jacket
The ideal jacket in my opinion. The fit is excellent - fitted without being restricted. Love everything about this R1
Love everything about this R1 top! Its light weight to throw on for summer warmth in air condition good, good for layering in cold weather and in changing temps, great fit true to size, looks good and washes well. Everything you would expect from a Patagonia product!
I liked this jacket a lot. The fit is true to size even with broader shoulders as theres some stretch to the fabric. It runs a bit long in length but Im short. Alas! This is yet another Patagonia womens jacket that is cut to fit a man, not a womanmeaning no stretch for hips and was too big on the top, I am a size 6- not big OR curvy- and could barely get this zipped over my hips! I am usually an extra small in all Patagonia jackets. This one was extremely tight and the material was very extremely flimsy. Had to return it and got a nano jacket instead. Very disappointed with the material of this jacket.

Thin, warm, windbreaking
I love this jacket! It is not quite as cozy as the traditional R1's because the fabric is thinner, but it is a better wind breaker with the TechFace, and it packs smaller. Or if I had the option for petite it probably would have been a better fit.. Im returning and will order an medium (once one is available) other than fit, it was warm and love the color!!
Great all-around midlayer
A very nice technical midlayer! Plenty of room for arm and shoulder movements and even a lightweight vest underneath. Should be great for all 4 seasons here in northern New England!
Simple & light weight
This jacket is a great light weight layer for mild weather. I would have given it 5 stars but it got a few small snags after just a few wears. I thought it would be more durable.

Miracle fabric, thoughtful design
This is a light, amazingly stretchy layer that fights off morning chill or fog but doesnt get steamy. The team at Patagonia S.C. are great! I was buying the 5 Tech Face jacket for my workers. The size runs small. I usually wear a medium but for these I needed a large. I still need to exchange a xxlarge for a xlarge mens. One catch is we haven't worn them yet for work.
