I have a 3 year old nano puff and just purchased this years' model. There is at least 50% less fill and it is half as warm as the previous model. It works as a midlayer but is not suitable as an outer in below freezing conditions anymore. Do not expect this to be the "winter jacket" you remember.
Hi Eric, thank you for sharing your feedback with us on the current version of the Men's Nano Puff Hoody. We are sorry to hear you experienced a significant difference in the insulation from your previous model. The only change in our insulation in the Nano Puff in the last three years was in our 2020 model. We went from 55% to 100% recycled insulation and is now 100% post-consumer recycled, keeping more than 9 billion plastic bottles out of the landfill annually! The insulation has stayed at the 60 grams PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Eco weight. We have reached out to you directly as this may be a quality issue. Just Right on Most Occasions
This jacket is warmer than it looks when it needs to be, but not overly hot when you are in more moderate temps. I have found it to be a great piece if the temps are above freezing, or below layered with a fleece if you are trying to avoid a bulky insulated jacket. It is, for sure, my go to jacket for most occasions here in the southeast.
This is my first time wearing Patagonia jacket, the overall jacket's fit and quality are top notch but it is not functional at all. Hi there, thank you for taking the time to write a review. We're so sorry to hear that the Nano Puff Hoody didn't keep you warm enough. We do have warmer options available, and we suggest taking a look at the Micro Puff Hoody. The Micro Puff is generally considered warmer that the Nano Puff due to a few factors. First, the Micro Puff uses a higher fill power insulation, which means it has a greater ability to trap and retain heat. Additionally, the Micro Puff has a slightly thicker layer of insulation, providing more warmth. Keep in mind that personal preferences and individual body responses to temperature can vary, so it's always a good idea to consider your specific needs and preferences when choosing a jacket.
Not only is this a great fitting jacket, it is incredibly warm, lightweight and is not bulky at all. Purchased an XL (6-4", 210lbs.) and I still have room for a base layers.
First of all. I love this jacket. I wear it all the time. However I have noticed that as years went by Patagonia is having major sizing problems. I was always an S in Patagonia. Best Fit Ever
As always, Patagonia provided a stellar product, with a perfect fit. Finally a clothing company that shows sizes on their model photos to more easily gauge size needed. Color is awesome, and elastic wrist/waste bands are amazing.
Hooded Nano Puff number two for me. The last one lasted 10 years of 100 days per year of use. More durable fabric than the Hooded Micro Puff Jacket. Please do not change this jacket.

Great Jacket
Wore this on a river trip every day, perfect light jacket for a cool morning/evening around the campfire.
I am a relatively small/fit frame, 5'11'', 160lb. For me, I like athletic fit, and size S fits my shoulders and chest perfectly, but the waist is a little too tight. I won't go up to a larger size but I do wish the waist was 1-2'' larger for this.
The nanopuff is simple, practical, the zippers are very well made. The jacket works between from the low 40s to high 60s. It was a worthwhile investment and I wear it all the time.

Patagonia has been a favorite brand of mine for a decade now. My most recent interaction with the company, a customer service rep named Robin, and the repair department has only bolstered my feelings about Patagonia.

A lot of Patagonia jackets have been redesigned for bigger people and don't fit as trimly as is required for more active use. The new one is perhaps slightly more puffy but that could be because my old one is flattened from age. But if you need an all-weather all-purpose insulating layer, get this jacket. Perfect as currently designed. Hopefully Patagonia won't change it.

Just Right!
I love the fit and function of this jacket. It's light, warm, has plenty of pockets . I use it as a mid layer under a shell on blustery days and it's super warm.
Big fan on this jacket. It's the right weight for year round - sometimes on it's own and sometimes as a layer over or under. Also great for traveling as it takes up so little space for all the functionality it provides.
Overall I was excited to get this jacket. I run pretty warm and have been looking for a light windproof jacket that I could wear daily during the winter. Overall I just didnt expect these issues to start occurring until years of wearing the jacket. Not just 3-4 weeks.
If you are looking to absolutely buy one I would only recommend getting a black one. You wont see stains that easily this way, and the stitching coming undone wont be terribly visible either potentially. As my jacket color and thread color are 2 different colors.

Got it for the husband for casual wear and fishing trips in the winter. He loves it! He is 6 ft tall, 170 lbs, muscular build. Fits him well. Its light and super warm, rain and wind proof. Very happy with this purchase!
Only issue I see is with the stitching, I have 4 different nano puffs and they all have issues with square stitching getting snagged on things. My most recent one already has a few. I also recognize I put them through a lot more than most as I work on sailboats for a living.

I love this jacket, I wear it all the time either as an insulation layer when I'm working on the mountain or if I'm just around town. My only wish is that the meduim cut was wider across the shoulders and back to fit a more athletic build cause a large has too material in the body but fits my shoulders and back. Otherwise it is a great ja... Read Morecket!
I'm 180 and 6' and I like the way this fits. I can wear a wool long underwear top, and fleece vest, and this fits nicely on top. Toasty warm. I really like the bright blue color I got, the packability and the breathability of this jacket. I feel like I'm in my own temperatur regulated bubble. Terrible sizing for big guys
Im so disappointed with sizing for big guys like myself. Im 65 270lbs and I cant find a jacket that will fit me. 3xl is huge and 2xl is too small. Im not sure why theres a 6 inch difference between 2x and 3x??? Every other size difference is only 3 inches. Im going to have to return a jacket, a cool pullover jacket and a hoodie. Very disappointed
Hi Shawn, we're very sorry to hear about the trouble with our sizing for the Men's Nano Puff Hoody. We're always working to improve our gear, and feedback like this is crucial in knowing what is and isn’t working. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

Swiss army knife shell
I actually have the older pullover jacket with the kangaroo pocket- discontinued which is a bummer. Ive had this shell for 6-7 years now Its been to Europe and Asia. Makes the best airplane pillow! Ive used it for mtbing, fall/winter trail runs and is always on when I split board. I run hot so its heating qualities work well for me. Zipper is start... This is my third Nano Puff since the day they started making them. This jacket has taken me on month long thru hikes, overnight trail runs, treks in the Himalaya, and to the coffee shop. I had so much duct tape on my last one from bumps and bruises it sustained over the years, I broke down and bought a new one. This piece pretty much goes everywher... Read Moree with me. This jacket is almost perfect. With a base layer and shirt under this, Colorado can't throw a cold enough temperature at me. It's amazing how small and light this thing is. It always keeps me warm. I love the zip pockets. I love that it stuffs into itself which makes it great for travel or on a hike. The fit is close to the body and I don... Read More't feel like I'm wearing a heavy jacket.
Because it is soo light it has its drawbacks. If snagged, this material can rip. Be careful in the woods, I was four wheeling and I got snagged by a branch and ripped it a little. It patches well though. I would be careful with aggressive abrasion as well. Wouldn't feel comfortable rock climbing with it but I've never tried.
I wish the pockets were lined with a material of some sort. On days I don't have gloves the pockets aren't much of a sanctuary for my hands.
Still my favorite jacket.

Super warm worth the money
Best for skiing for a light layer so worth the money design is so good .
Splitboarding in the cold winters of Montana, this jack is a must have. When skinning up mtns layering is key and often times this jacket is my only layer while climbing. The hood helps when the wind is trying to cut through you. At the top before dropping in I Pair this with a bomber shell I am able to withstand the cold temps. On another note, wa... Read Mores resort riding with the fam and my wife forgot her shell. So I gave her mine and rode all day in this jacket, temps 28 degrees with chairlifts. Highly recommend this multipurpose hoody.
The nano puff hoody is one of the best jackets Ive purchased. I got a size large so I can layer underneath. If the weather is cool I can wear just a tee shirt with the jacket. If its cold out I can wear long sleeves, a sweater, or vest under and be very comfortable. I really like this jackets versatility in a wide range of temperatures and conditio... Read Morens. The jacket is excellent! I've worn this jacket in 10-degree weather with a long sleeve under it, and it kept me warm throughout my hike. I usually wear a size Large in Patagonia and all other brands, but I found this to fit slightly larger. It makes sense as it is not a slim-fit jacket. Honestly, it would be too snug if I were to size down.
My... Read More only gripe about the jacket is the stitching from the arms snag on the zippers of the pocket. I noticed after a few wears, loose strands of stitching in the middle part of the arms. I think the solution for that would be one, keep your pocket zippers zipped or two, an upgrade to the zippers to use a no-show design to prevent the snag. Minus the snagging the jacket performs as it should. The loose stitching doesn't compromise the intended purpose of the jacket and can be fixed by making a few sewing adjustments. Overall its a great jacket that's wind and weather resistant and great for everyday wear.
The company I work for purchased 10 of these jackets 3 years ago to celebrate the end of a project. The jacket is not very warm and I have quit wearing it at all because it is literally falling apart. I started sewing the spots where the fill would stick out but finally got to the point where it wasnt worth it. I would definitely not recommend this... Awesome top for BC skiing, start out cold and just drop in your pack as you warm.

The cut and design of this jacket didnt meet my expectations. In general the sizing aligned with other Patagonia products Ive bought (M), but it was tight in the chest, and the sleeves were too tight under the arms when I reached for anything. It felt like a budget brand jacket rather than the high quality activewear Ive bought from Patagonia previ... Read Moreously.
Great coat that is warmer than it appears. I stick in my trad climbing pack for belaying in cold conditions. I had a 2019 version that was destroyed and I just replaced it with a Barn Red version. Take note that this year (2021-22) there is some orange mixed in to the red. You can see it in the website photos. Highly recommended.

First Time Buyer
I purchased this jacket on my recent trip to Reno, NV as something that would help keep me warm in colder weather. The jacket is not bulky by any means and although I'm only about 5'9 and 155 lbs, the XL keeps me pretty cozy. Yes it is a little big and the L would probably have fit a bit better. But I do slightly prefer the bigger fit. Th...
