This is the technical fleece hoody we have all been patiently waiting for. It is durable and water resistant for those extra long adventures, but cozy and flexible. It will get great use!
I got to try out this piece on some unseasonably chilly and rainy evening/night hikes and I couldn't be more pleased with the instant warmth and cozy feel it provided. It shed the drizzle easily as I made my way down the mountain, warm and dry. I love the sleek hand pockets and their position out of the way of my pack. The drop in pocket behin... Read Mored the chest zippered pocket is a nice feature which fits my phone and keeps it handy. The fit is slim and very flattering, no bulk, but comfortably true to size. The jacket version doesn't have the chest pocket, but offers a roomier "regular fit" if that's preferred. Great fabric and finishing, 10/10 would recommend.
I really needed a jacket with a hood to protect me from the weather, but not too bulky, while I am outdoors hiking, up on the mountain, or out on the town in spring/fall. I thought about this purchase for a while, and I am so glad I did buy it, as it is exactly what I was looking for. I love the whole R1 line as it keeps me warm without being bulky... Read More and that is top priority for me. I like the solid quality feel of the outside of the jacket. Not the usual "swish" sound like with other types either. The R1 line is the "slim" type, so I get a size Large, even though I usually am a medium. They might be a little long for my 5' 6" frame, but I like the little extra room in the chest and waist area.
Patagonia THANK YOU for finally making a technical fleece that isnt ridiculously long. This is the jacket I have been waiting for for years. The weight is perfect. The sleeves are the perfect length. It is just the right length in the body. The fabric is sturdy. Cannot wait to see more colors come out. I am typically a xs or a small in Patagonia it... Read Moreems. I purchased a small in this and do not think the xs would have fit. The small is very fitted. Love this so much! I have worn it so many times since I got it.
I purchased this to replace a similar style that no longer fit! Honestly I love this one more than the old one! I am on the shorter, rounder side and often sleeves swallow up my hands! The sleeves of this jacket are the perfect fit! I love the partial elastic and the fitted silhouette! It just fits me like a glove and is super flattering but also f... Read Moreunctional! Great protection form the elements on warmer spring/summer days! Love it! May buy another!
I was wanting something with the warmth and breathability of the R1 air hoody and with some water repellency and wind resistant properties and this jacket answered the request! I love a hood and choose not to buy the tech jacket because of the lack of a hood. HOWEVER, the awesome customer service peeps let me know that this jacket was coming out, s... Read Moreo I waited and it was rewarded. I love the feel of this jacket, and the more smooth outer shell to not snag on things. I live in PA and we have a lot of rocks and boulders to climb, I feel this will take rubbing on those rocks nicely. I do feel it is warm with a base layer under for temps in the 30F/0C if you are doing high output activity (hiking / climbing). And perfect to wear around town as well with some light drizzle in 50F weather. I have a feeling this will be my go to for autumn, spring, and mild winter weather for a long time. The fit is nice. I have a larger chest and wider shoulders than most women, and this felt nicely and doesn't feel baggy (esp for those women who may be smaller). I do find that it runs true to size as well. The length of the arms are nice, not too long or short. Nice work Patagonia!
This is what you wanted the R1 TechFace to be. So glad the CrossStrata has been shortened from previous R-series Tech options! Hits the top of my pockets when standing and still stays more than an inch under the belly button when arms are raised. Cuffs are spot on, a bit longer on the back of the hands and tapered while still allowing room from my ... Read Morebulkier Garmin Fenix watch. Chest pocket is where it should always be for women...on the ribs, above the part of your chest that bounces. In fact, I forgot where my phone was after a two hour ski because the positioning is so wonderful. Side pockets are sleek yet generously swallow hands. Hood fits as desired: staying just under lower lips so heavier exertion activities don't leave your face or jacket covered in ice, sits above sunglasses and even with ball cap (no gaper gap!), ample movement to look over shoulders when fully zipped up while still allowing for a beanie and/or neck gaiter layered up for chillier days. I'm 5'2" 140 and would say it's an athletic but not truly slim cut in the Patagonia line up. I'm generally a small and am happy with how that fits in this application. All in all I'm thrilled the new era of soft shells has finally caught up to my expectations. Now, if this could inspire a pant for uphilling :)
