This comfortable, quick-drying polyester hoody wicks and provides sun protection in hot weather.

Chasing giant trevally on foot requires three things: serious gear, a stout heart and extra sun protection. Our Tropic Comfort Hoody II easily handles the sun with comfortable hands-to-ears coverage. The ultralight, super-comfortable polyester jersey fabric provides 20-UPF sun protection, wicks away perspiration and now features our iconic Fitz Roy Trout logo on the chest. It also floats over the skin with a soft, cotton-like feel so you can stay cool and focus on the fishing. The generous hood design fits over a baseball cap, while long sleeves and thumb holes cover hands. It’s the simple, one-piece sun solution for anglers who prefer not to deal with gloves, neck gaiters and broad-brim hats.
  • Made of super comfortable, ultralight polyester jersey fabric with 20-UPF sun protection
  • Classic, relaxed tee silhouette with generous hood designed to fit over a baseball cap
  • Thumb holes provide sun protection for the hands
  • Fitz Roy Trout heat transfer on left chest
  • 4.8-oz 100% polyester jersey, with 20-UPF sun protection
  • 181 g (6.4 oz)
  • Made in El Salvador.

Sun Protection

Lacking fur, feathers or scales, we humans have to think up clever ways to protect ourselves from the sun. Products with the UPF designation provide built-in sun protection that won’t wear off.

UPF stands for “Ultraviolet Protection Factor.” This value represents the fractional amount of the sun’s harmful UV rays that pass through a fabric. A rating of “25” indicates that only 1/25th , or 4% of the UV rays pass through the garment.

Patagonia products with rated UPF protection are tested independently to meet Australia/New Zealand or AATCC protocols. A rating of 15-24 earns a product a rating of “good”; a rating of 25-39 is "very good"; and a rating of 40-50+ is “excellent.” *

* When tested in accordance with Australian/New Zealand test methods AS/NZS 4399 or USA test methods AATCC 183/ASTM D6603/ASTM D6544.
