End-of-Life Wetsuit Program
“When your wetsuit is at the end of its life, it can now be converted into reclaimed carbon black (RCB). With this process, a retired Yulex® wetsuit becomes an ingredient that can be used to make new suits, and that cycle can repeat indefinitely. On top of that, you can use RCB to solution-dye the yarns used in the linings of the suit, or backpacks, or any synthetic fabric or trim that is black, really. To simplify, think of it like a cake. You can’t take an old, stale cake and make a new cake, but what if you can turn an old cake into flour and use it to bake a new cake? That is radical.” —Hub Hubbard, Patagonia Surf Product Line Manager
Bring your end-of-life Patagonia Yulex® wetsuit to your local Patagonia store or ship it directly to us for recycling. As a courtesy to our employees, please wash and thoroughly dry your suit before dropping it off or mailing it in.
