bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Weatherproof

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are completely waterproof, windproof, breathable and highly packable for backpacking, alpine climbing and backcountry skiing. They combine a water-repellent shell fabric with a waterproof/breathable membrane and a protective top coat barrier without needing a protective lining fabric. A raised print layer is applied to decreased layering friction and increase moisture management.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are coated with DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish that repels light rain and snow. In conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

All products bearing the H2No mark have been vigorously tested for durability in our 24 Killer Wash.

Men's Torrentshell Jacket is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 106.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I need This has the features I want, and is not loaded down with things I do not need. Light weight, pit zips, pockets, hood. Normal Patagonia quality. Good value (on sale :)) I bought a Houdini jacket, but exchanged for this. It is a little heavier, and has a few extra features - still very light weight packs down to a small package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The main reasons you should buy this: The main reasons you should buy this: price, packability, performance and look. You're not breaking the bank with this jacket, and yet, it works wonderfully. I've had it in torrential rain, international trips and on city tours. It packs down without much fight, making it easy to take with you even when the chance of rain is slim. What I wish this jacket had was inside pockets. Ideally, I'd have two inside pockets parallel to the outside pockets, along with a breast pocket for your phone, etc. Otherwise, it's a good looking jacket at a decent price that's also built to last. (That's good enough for me.) Would I buy this again, yep, I sure would. But hopefully I don't have to for a while, but I'd stick with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall Great Rain Jacket I am doing backpacking into cold wet conditions. You have to stay dry and this jacket is very breathable and waterproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality! Great jacket, beautiful color, has everything I need. BUT the wrist opening should have some elastic to it. It can be difficult to put on and take off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Zipper frustration will rain down on you The zipper is the worst design I have ever had. Instead of having a single film layer they have a double panel zipper cover. The zipper will get stuck at the neck every single time making you wish both 1. It wasn't raining 2. You went with another rain jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great city all-weather / biking shell Great all purpose shell - I combine with Patagonia down sweater for warmth in winter but also great for warmer weather in rain

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fit very different from previous model I wear this year-round (over fleece in winter) so it was time to replace the Torrentshell I bought in 2014. The new fit doesn't work at all-- old L fit perfectly, but new L is huge (but M won't fit over a fleece); substantial gap between current M and L sizes. Sadly will have to find a waterproof/packable elsewhere.
