Environmental Catalyst Program
The Environmental Catalyst Program provides high-value grants and other valuable brand resources to organizations advancing Patagonia’s top environmental priorities. The goal of this program is to fund areas of the US environmental movement where Patagonia can have a targeted and long-term impact.
Our Environmental Catalyst Program is a pillar of Patagonia’s one percent of sales grantmaking ecosystem, complementing the Retail Partnerships Program and the Grassroots Collaborative Program. Together, these three grantmaking programs support a suite of frontline and community-led nonprofits advancing Patagonia’s environmental priorities, built in partnerships and rooted in trust.
Grantees meet the requirements of Patagonia’s one percent of sales grantmaking program in addition to working on the following campaigns and initiatives:
Healthy Lands
- Defend America’s Arctic.
- Stop the expansion of the wood-pellet industry in the Southeast.
- Defend the Antiquities Act and monument rollback efforts.
Healthy Waters
- Defend the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness from copper mining.
- Breach the lower four Snake River dams.
- Stop the expansion of open-net pen aquaculture in Maine.
Climate Solutions
- Stop the development of new oil and gas pipelines in the Midwest and Appalachia.
- Halt the liquefied natural gas buildout happening in the Gulf Coast.
- Force the oil and gas industry to pay their fair share of climate impacts.
Agricultural Transformation
- Facilitate regenerative land transfer and ownership in California.
- Enact policies that incentivize the transition to regenerative agriculture in the Midwest.
Thriving Communities
- Increase sport access for BIPOC communities across the US.
- Foster leadership development for the next generation of frontline organizers working on key environmental issues in California, the Southeast and the Midwest.
