Usually when a sports car meets a truck, the results aren’t pretty. But in the case of our Black Hole™ Wheeled Duffel, the mash-up is a burly, legal airline carry-on duffel with precision handling. Tough and highly weather-resistant, this bomber bag protects your gear from the scuffs and scrapes of wayward journeys. Its zippered U-shaped lid—with two zippered internal mesh pockets on the underside to keep small items organized—offers quick and easy access to the main compartment. A zippered exterior pocket provides a secure and handy spot for your boarding pass, energy bar or paperback. The sturdy frame sheet protects the duffel from baggage-handler abuse and keeps your Black Hole™ upright, even when it’s loaded to the max. Oversized wheels deliver a smooth ride, whether you’re crossing the tarmac or traversing a cobblestone street. Carrying options include the main webbing handles (with snap closure), a two-position telescoping handle, or the two haul loops on either end. You can lash additional gear to the outside with the four corner-mounted daisy chains. Made from 15-oz 900-denier polyester ripstop (50% solution-dyed) with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Carol13om from Best travel bag ever! I love my Patagonia black hole duffle. Great size for carry on with plenty of room. Interior compression straps really help condense your gear/clothing and keep the bag streamlined. Sturdy handle & wheels make it easy to haul your other bag or backpack on top as well. Excellent bag!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hollyl from Great light weight durable travel bag I travel for business and needed a bag to fit the small regional jet overhead storage bin. This is the best bag I've had. It's light weight, the handles are in convenient locations, and fits in all the small regional jets storage bins. It kind of nearly fits on the EMB-145, but when lifted a couple of inches, the bin door will close. Would be perfect if the bags was 1" smaller width, only at the wheel location. Also would be nice to have another zip interior mesh pocket that is larger than the two small pockets located on the zip cover. The cinch straps keep the contents compressed and I place and are a great feature not available on other small roller bags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by James11 from Be the Envy of Everyone in the Airport... As airlines keep finding ways to charge us more money, I decided to finally invest in a solid piece of carry-on luggage. This is a difficult proposition for me, because I am a notorious "overpacker", so I honestly did not think I would be successful in my search. .... I was wrong. Enter the 40L Black Hole bag. This thing is tailor-made to fit the needs of demanding travelers everywhere. It is quite roomy, and every time I slide it into the overhead bins on an airplane, I think to myself: wow, Patagonia designed this thing on the absolute razor's edge of margins to still be able to fit into the bin! No matter how much I cram into this bag (easily three days' worth of stuff or more) it still manages to fit in the bin. Throw in the fact that it is made of extremely durable, tear-resistant, water-proof material (mine still looks perfect after dozens of flights), and it's a no-brainer. Oh, and if you're style-conscious... it's the best looking bag in the boarding line, trust me.
